Hello my friends! Before I delve into today’s blogpost, there is one thing I want to mention: HAPPY 5TH ANNIVERSARY GEEK Q!!! That’s right, that small blog/social media/personal diary project that started back in late 2014 just as a hobby for me and which has fully developed into almost a second job is turning 5 years old, and I couldn’t be happier and prouder of what we’ve been through all these years. As you may remember, I started the blog as a way to communicate my ideas and creativity in terms of style and fashion, particularly in the tech industry, but now it is almost a complete lifestyle guide ranging from fashion, to branding and collaborations, and the beautiful relationships that I have fostered during that time. Of course, this is all possible because of people like you, that take the time to read what I have to say, and comment and share with me your experiences both here and on social media. I’m infinitely thankful for that opportunity and I hope that we can continue exploring this journey together; just to see how far we can both go, and keep on realizing those dreams like the one I had 5 years ago of being a blogger.
Now coming back to today’s post, as you all know winter is just around the corner. Just like the infamous phrase from the acclaimed television series Game of Thrones, which has by now been carved into everybody’s minds forever, says, “winter is coming”. The Gents and I decided to collaborate with Steve from The Social Cut, an LA-based barbershop and grooming café in a Seattle Gents winter special: 5 different winter looks for the upcoming season. Something that I’ve really liked about our group since the very beginning, and it keeps being true today, is how diverse and multi-cultural it is. This gets reflected in our personal styles, and here you can see, once again, that we have something going on for every type of guy: from the very urban, to the classic, to the casual, and the dapper, there’s something in each one of these looks that represents us. This is the power of style, it can tell a story with no words, and in this case, our clothes tell our stories.
On this occasion, I wanted to bring in layers and patterns that might not be the most typical of winter, but that could still work out especially in the transition to colder weather. That’s why I decided to wear a Fair Isle sweater from Pull and Bear along with a pair of tan chinos from Club Monaco. For the accessories, I opted for a light gray scarf from H&M and the big, green overcoat is from Topman. Finally I wore my J. Crew brown leather boots to complete the whole look. Something that I really like about this look is that it is extremeley versatile, one can easily change the sweater for a cardigan, or the chinos for some fitted jeans, or even the overcoat, and it would still work well for this period in-between seasons. I have a few holiday parties coming up (including our own Seattle Gents Holiday Event with Bonobos which will be hosted by myself and John from the Seattle Gents). I’ll post more info about that event through Instagram stories, so make sure you keep posted. I’m really excited because it’s been a while since I’ve hosted an event (probably not since the J. Crew Fall event last year) so come and join us for some fashion tips and mingling before the year ends. I want to remind you all to be stylish and to let your voice be heard. ¡Hola amigos míos! Antes de adentrarme en el post del día de hoy, hay una pequeña cosa que quiero mencionar: ¡¡¡FELIZ 5TO ANIVERSARIO GEEK Q!!! Así es, ese pequeño blog/proyecto de redes sociales/diario personal que comenzó a finales del 2014 como un hobby para mí y que se ha convertido casi en un trabajo de medio tiempo está cumpliendo 5 años y, no podría estar más feliz ni más orgulloso de todo lo que hemos vivido juntos en estos años. Como recordarán, empecé el blog como una manera de comunicar mis ideas y mi creatividad acerca del estilo y la moda, particularmente en la industria de la tecnología, pero ahora es casi una guía completa de como vivir un estilo de vida elevado abarcando desde moda, a trabajar con marcas y colaboraciones y a las hermosas amistades que he podido formar durante este tiempo. Por supuesto, esto es posible gracias a gente como tú, que se toma el tiempo de leer lo que tengo que decir y de comentar y compartir conmigo esas experiencias tanto aquí como en redes sociales. Estoy infinitamente agradecido porque me hayas dado esa oportunidad y espero que podamos continuar explorando este camino juntos; el ver que tan lejos podemos llegar, y seguir convirtiendo esos sueños en realidad tal y como el sueño que tuve hace 5 años de ser un blogger.
Ahora volviendo al blogpost del día de hoy, como sabrán el invierno se encuentra ya a la vuelta de la esquina. Así como la famosa frase del aclamado show de televisión Game of Thrones, la cual está grabada en nuestras mentes por siempre, dice: “el invierno se acerca”. Los Gents y yo decidimos colaborar con Steve de The Social Cut, una barbería y café de cuidad personal basada en LA, en un especial de invierno de los Seattle Gents: 5 looks diferentes para esta temporada invernal. Algo que siempre me ha gustado desde un principio acerca de nuestro grupo, y lo cual sigue siendo cierto hoy en día, es lo diverso y multi-cultural que este es. Esto se ve reflejado en nuestros estilos personales, y aquí se puede observar una vez más, que tenemos algo para todo tipo de estilo: desde lo urbano, hasta lo clásico, lo casual y lo formal, hay algo en cada uno de estos looks que nos representa. Este es el poder del estilo, puede contar una historia sin palabras, y en este caso, nuestra ropa cuenta nuestra historia.
En esta ocasión, quería portar capas y patrones que quizás no son las más típicas del invierno, pero que aún así podrían funcionar especialmente en la transición hacia clima más fresco. Es por eso que decidí ponerme un suéter de las Islas del Norte de Pull and Bear junto con unos chinos en color café claro de Club Monaco. Para los accesorios, opté por una bufanda en color gris claro de H&M y el abrigo en color verde oscuro es de Topman. Finalmente me puse mis botas de cuero color café de J. Crew para completar el look. Algo que realmente me gusta de este atuendo es que es extremadamente versátil, uno puede cambiar el suéter por un cardigan, o los chinos por un par de jeans ajustados, o inclusive el abrigo, y esta combinación se vería bien para este período de entretiempos. ¿Ustedes qué opinan? ¿Ven algo aquí que alguno de estos excelentes Gents está portando que les gusta? Tengo un par de fiestas de Navidad estas semanas (incluyendo nuestra propia fiesta de Navidad de los Seattle Gents junto con Bonobos y que será presidida por un servidor). Voy a subir más información sobre el evento en mis Instagram stories en estos días, así que manténganse al pendiente. Estoy muy emocionado ya que hace tiempo que no auspiciaba un evento (probablemente desde el evento con J. Crew en otoño del año pasado) así que acompáñennos para escuchar algunos tips de moda y convivir antes de que termine este año. Les quiero recordar también que se vistan con estilo y que dejen que los demás escuchen su voz. ¡Estoy en ansias por ver lo que los siguientes 5 años tienen en pie para nosotros! ¡Hasta la próxima!
