Hello friends! How is everything? If there’s a topic that I haven’t really touched during my four and a half years as a Seattle blogger that would be Seattle’s nightlife culture. I think it was mainly because as with any other large cities, Seattle has a reputation of having a very commercial, homogenous nightlife. This may be true for nightclubs, but something that I have noticed lately is that local restaurants and bars in Seattle do offer a very wide range of experiences, food, drinks, and environments where you can have a good time after work for happy hour, or on a weekend night out with friends. The Seattle Gents and I have been trying out some of these places with unique, upscale experiences, and today I want to share with you 3 places in particular that really stuck a chord with me and I would deem as 3 great places to go out in Seattle.
The first one I want to introduce to you guys is the restaurant/bar 13 Coins on Pioneer Square. This monster of a bar (more than 3500 square feet between dining areas, bars, and even private event rooms) lies just a couple blocks away from the Seattle mecca of sports: Pioneer Square. They feature huge screens for watching any type of sporting event, a wide variety of tasty appetizers and a full menu even, and the best thing, they are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. That’s right friends! A 24/7 bar in Seattle! You don’t hear about that often, and of course they have to adhere to Washington State drinking laws (which prohibit the selling of alcohol after 2am). The Gents and I also had the privilege of meeting Paul, the general manager, and we were treated to an incredible dinner with some really exotic drinks (I would recommend the Fahrenheit 13, it is fireee!)
The second spot that we’ve visited in the past few weeks might be more suitable for those that prefer a more low-key, beer and tapas experience. I’m talking about Old Stove Brewing Co., a delightful brewery in our very own Pike Market Place. Something that you might not know yet about Seattle is that it is a craft beer epicenter. The Greater Seattle area is home to over 150 different brewing companies, and they all feature anything from lagers, to pale ales, to stouts, and Old Stove is not the exception. You can start with the local beer flight, which will give you up to 5 different homegrown beers to try. We got this for our own table and the range of flavors and beer types was quite pleasing. Along with that we got some appetizers, such as mussels, caramelized Brussels sprouts, and flatbreads. This is a great location for having happy hour after work if you are near Downtown, and the view is just spectacular.
Last but not least, we have an experience for those that really like to amp it up a notch in terms of style and more of a classic tone. Of course I’m talking about Hotel Sorrento in the Seattle neighborhood of First Hill. Hotel Sorrento is an early 20th-Century building with an Italian Renaissance flare, a beautiful Victorian garden, and a prohibition-era like bar called the Fireside. It has been passed on by multiple owners, but it is still a crown jewel in the beautiful Emerald City. The new management in this hotel is trying to create an upscale cocktail experience called Whiskey Wednesdays in a partnership with the Seattle Gents. The hotel has one of the finest selections of whiskeys from all across the world, and the Gents and I had the pleasure of inaugurating Whiskey Wednesdays in style, with our own, personalized drink menu inspired by some of the members. If you’re looking for a great rooftop view as well this is the place to go! It offers an incredible sight to most of Seattle, which can be great on a sunny day, like the one we had.

¡Hola amigos! ¿Cómo va todo? Si hay un tema que realmente no he tocado durante mis cuatro años y medio como blogger de la ciudad de Seattle es la vida nocturna de esta ciudad. Creo que eso se debe, principalmente, a que como cualquier otra ciudad grande, Seattle tiene la reputación de tener una vida nocturna algo comercial y homogénea. Esto puede ser verdad para los antros, pero algo que he notado últimamente es que los restaurantes locales y bares en Seattle sí ofrecen una amplia variedad de experiencias, estilos de comida, bebidas y ambientes donde uno puede pasar un rato muy agradable después del trabajo para happy hour, o de salida en fin de semana con amigos. Los Seattle Gents y yo hemos estado probando algunos de estos lugares con experiencias únicas y de mayor nivel, y el día de hoy quisiera platicarles acerca de 3 lugares en particular que realmente se me quedaron grabados y que los recomendaría como 3 lugares increíbles para salir en Seattle.
El primer lugar al que los quisiera introducir es al restaurante/bar 13 Coins en Pioneer Square. Este monstruo de bar (más de 3,500 pies cuadrados de superficie entre área para cenar, bares e inclusive salones para eventos privados) yace a tan sólo un par de cuadras de la meca del deporte en Seattle: Pioneer Square. Dentro del lugar se encuentran pantallas gigantes ideales para disfrutar de cualquier evento deportivo, una gran variedad de ricos aperitivos y un menú bastante extenso y, lo mejor de todo, es que se encuentra abierto las 24 horas del día los 7 días de la semana. ¡Así es amigos! ¡Un bar 24/7 en la ciudad de Seattle! Normalmente no escuchamos de lugares así, y por supuesto tienen que adherirse a las leyes del estado de Washington respecto a la venta de alcohol (el cual está prohibido después de las 2 de la mañana). Los Gents y yo tuvimos el privilegio de conocer a Paul, el gerente del lugar, y fuimos recibidos con una impresionante cena y un par de bebidas bastante exóticas y deliciosas (les recomiendo ampliamente el Fahrenheit 13, ¡es fuego puro!)
El segundo establecimiento que hemos visitado en estas últimas semanas puede ser de mayor agrado para gente que prefiere un ambiente más relajado, algo así como cervezas y pequeñas tapas. Me refiero por supuesto a Old Stove Brewing Co., una auténtica cervecería en nuestro querido Pike Market. Algo que probablemente no sepan sobre Seattle es que es un epicentro para cervezas artesanales. La zona metropolitana de Seattle contiene alrededor de 150 diferentes cervecerías locales, y estas fermentan todo tipo de cervezas desde lagers, a pale ales, a stouts, y Old Stove no es la excepción. Pueden comenzar con el muestreo de cervezas locales, el cual les presentará hasta 5 diferentes cervezas hechas en casa para probar. Pedimos este para nuestra mesa y el rango de sabores y tipos de cervezas fue bastante placentero. Junto con ello decidimos pedir algunas de las tapas, como son mejillones, coles de Bruselas caramelizadas y flatbreads. Esta es una gran ubicación para ir de happy hour después del trabajo si trabajan cerca de Downtown y la vista es simplemente espectacular.
Ya por último, tenemos una experiencia para aquellos que realmente quieren algo más elevado para poder vestirse con estilo y un tono más clásico. Por supuesto estoy hablando del Hotel Sorrento en la colonia de Seattle denominada First Hill. Hotel Sorrento es una construcción de principios del siglo XX con un toque de renacentismo italiano, un hermoso jardín victoriano y un bar al estilo de la era de la prohibición llamado Fireside. Ha pasado por múltiples generaciones de dueños, pero hoy en día se mantiene como una joya en la corona de la hermosa Ciudad Esmeralda. La nueva gerencia de este hotel está intentando crear una experiencia de cócteles de alto nivel llamada Whiskey Wednesdays en conjunto con los Seattle Gents. El hotel cuenta con una de las más finas selecciones de whiskeys de todas partes del mundo, y los Gents y yo tuvimos el placer de inaugurar Whiskey Wednesdays con estilo, con nuestro propio menú de bebidas personalizado inspirado en algunos de los miembros del grupo. Si están buscando, además, una vista desde una azotea ¡este es el lugar para ir! Ofrece una vista increíble de gran parte de la ciudad de Seattle, lo cual puede ser muy agradable en un día soleado, tal como el que nos tocó a nosotros.
Eso va a ser todo por hoy mis amigos. Ahí tienen, tres diferentes experiencias para salir de noche para la gente que vive en el área de Seattle. Quisiera agradecer a todos y cada uno de nuestros hostesses, meseros, bartenders, cocineros y gerentes que hemos conocido en estas semanas, y quisiera invitarlos a todos a que los visiten en su lugar favorito. ¡Les aseguro que no se van a arrepentir! También quisiera mandar un gran saludo a todos los Seattle Gents que han hecho esto posible y a los fotógrafos en cada uno de los eventos. ¡Realmente nos hicieron lucir bien! Y hablando de vida nocturna, este fin de semana estaré viajando a la ciudad de Las Vegas por primera vez en mi vida, ¡así que estoy muy emocionado por ese viaje!
