Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! Not so very often do we get big snow events here in Seattle, and this past weekend we got between 3-7 inches of snow in the central Puget Sound region. To many people that live in the Northeast or Midwest that’s probably not news worthy, but here in the Emerald City, that means that we’re treated to some very slippery hills, abandoned cars on roads, halted public transportation, and beautiful winter wonderland city scenes. That type of event only happens around once every 5 years, so it was a must that during such an epic winter event I went outside and took some pictures in the blustery, Northwestern cold air.
This time, we went to the Washington Park Arboretum to admire what Mother Nature gave us in a very late start to winter. You see, we had just been through one of the warmest and driest Januarys in Seattle history, and just like clockwork, as we hit February the wind patterns changed and the snow machine was turned on. I’m so lucky for living in such a beautiful city that when it snows becomes so pretty; it’s almost as if time itself stops, and the city is paralyzed just to let you admire its beauty. There’s nothing like the Emerald City covered in snow.
For my stroll in the arboretum I decided I needed to wear very thick, warm clothes. Here you can see me wearing my Andrew Marc parka, which I haven’t even touched this winter, along with a gray sweater and black wool pants from Club Monaco. For the accessories, I wore my infinity scarf from H&M, and finally for the shoes I opted for using my snowboots from Pajar, a Canadian brand that specializes in winter weather boots. This outfit allowed me to keep my warmth and enjoy the marvelous snowy trees of Washington Park Arboretum. What do you guys think? Do you like this winter weather look? ¡Hola a todos! ¡Feliz miércoles! No muy a menudo tenemos nevadas importantes aquí en la ciudad de Seattle y, este fin de semana, recibimos entre 8-18 cms de nieve en la región central del Puget Sound. Para mucha gente que vive en el Noreste o Medio Oeste de los Estados Unidos puede que eso no sea de mucha relevancia, pero aquí en la Ciudad Esmeralda, eso significa que veremos muchas colinas resbalosas, carros abandonados en las calles, un sistema de transporte público completamente parado y hermosas escenas invernales en la ciudad. Ese tipo de eventos sólo suceden una vez casi 5 años en promedio, así que era de esperarse que con una tormenta de nieve tan masiva y épica iba a aventurarme a tomar fotos en el frío y congelante viento del Noroeste.
En esta ocasión, fuimos al arboretum de Washington Park para admirar lo que la Madre Naturaleza nos había regalado en este muy tardío inicio del invierno. Verán, acabábamos de salir de uno de los eneros más cálidos y secos de la historia de Seattle y, como manecillas del reloj, tan sólo entró febrero y los patrones de viento empezaron a cambiar y la máquina de nieve fue encendida. Me siento muy afortunado de vivir en una ciudad tan bella que se vuelve todavía más hermosa cuando nieva; es casi como si el tiempo mismo se detuviera y la ciudad se paraliza para permitirte admirar esa belleza. No hay nada como la Ciudad Esmeralda cubierta de nieve.
Para mi caminata por el arboretum decidí que tenía que ponerme ropa gruesa y cálida. Aquí me pueden ver vistiendo mi parka de Andrew Marc, la cual ni siquiera había tocado en este invierno, junto con un suéter y unos pantalones negros de lana de Club Monaco. Como accesorio, me puse mi bufanda circular de H&M, y finalmente para el calzado opté por usar mis botas de nieve de Pajar, una marca canadiense que se especializa en botas invernales. Este outfit me ayudó a mantener mi calor interior para poder disfrutar de los maravillosos árboles nevados del Arboretum en Washington Park. ¿Qué opinan amigos? ¿Les gusta este look invernal? Quisiera agradecer a mi roommate Carlos por tomar estas fotos y por capturar la escenografía que lo deja a uno sin aliento.
