Hi friends! How’s everyone doing? So in my last post, I talked about my New Year’s resolutions. Then you guys might have seen the subsequent post on Instagram for #transformationTuesday where I shared some of my fitness goals and apps I’m using to track my progress. Well, I’m happy to say that as of this week, I’ve gained 2 lbs of muscle, and for the first time in my life I’m over the 150 lbs mark in total weight. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I started working out and switched my diet, but even though the gains are small, I feel completely different right now. I have more strength, I am eating almost twice as much as when I started, and I’m doing almost 25% more weight in all of my exercises. I think that this is all about retaking those good habits, and I’m pretty sure that if I continue on the same trend, I’m going to start getting some more evident, physical results. Of course, that comes with hard work, but I’m willing to put that extra effort in.
Switching gears now, today on the blog I want to talk about a photoshoot I did with the Seattle Gents for the Seattle Gents Kicks Collection blog post on the Seattle Gents blog. You may have already read that post (which was in fact written and planned by me) so today, instead of talking about shoes, I want to talk about the rest of my outfit. Seattle has a very constant weather around 9 out of the 12 months of the year (mainly, our seasons are summer and the rest of the year). It tends to go anywhere from rainy, to cloudy, to windy, back to cloudy, and seldom do we get something outside of that pattern. The signature look of the Pacific Northwest is a jacket with a hood, of course, some weatherproof pants, long sleeves or sweatshirt, and some all-weather shoes. This is the mark of our city, as ingrained to us as the so called Seattle Freeze itself, but what’s makes us one of the main cities that fashion designers look up to when designing all-weather clothes is its versatility: we can adapt.
For my shoot with the Gents, I decided to replicate this signature Seattle Freeze style but with a twist, wearing some staple colors and non-Pacific Northwest brands. Here you can see me wearing my olive green parka from Divided by H&M, along with a navy striped long-sleeve shirt from J. Crew and a pair of weather-proof pants from Jeremiah Clothing. For the accessories, I have my Skagen Denmark smartwatch, and my Persol sunglasses. Finally, for the shoes I opted for a black suede sneaker from Adidas. We shot these amazing pictures in the beautiful neighborhood of Capitol Hill thanks to the help of Rickjohn Dodge, who was our photographer, and me and the Gents had a great time seeing iconic places such as the Broadway sign in front of Rite Aid, the red brick wall behind Julia’s, and some industrial spaces that are near closure. Well that’s going to be it for today. I have some pretty good news for you guys! You might remember that last year I went to New York Fashion Week in February, so well… wait for it… this year I’m going again! I’m super excited for seeing some new shows and new designers this year, and in comparison to last year, I’ll only be attending The Shows, which is where I had the most fun. I’ll tell you more about who I’m seeing and what I’ll be doing in the next post. I also have news regarding the Seattle Gents. We’ve finally announced the Seattle Gents Membership, which by the means of a monthly, quarterly, or yearly fee, will expose you to tons of events, brand sponsorships, discounts, and more in the Seattle area. I’m super excited of being a part of this group and I feel that this is the right step for us. Also, there will be a lot of opportunities to collaborate, which will be great. Our first event is actually next week, where we will be having a Fashion and Tech Panel at the ATLAS. I hope to see many of you guys there and please become part of this membership, I’m sure you’ll love it! ¡Hola amigos! ¿Cómo les está yendo a todos? En mi post anterior, les platicaba acerca de mis propósitos de Año Nuevo. Después, quizás algunos de ustedes vieron el post subsecuente en mi Instagram para #transformationTuesday donde les compartí algunas de mis metas y las aplicaciones que estoy utilizando para seguir mi progreso. Bueno, estoy feliz en informarles que hasta esta semana, he ganado aproximadamente 1 kg de músculo, y por primera vez en mi vida logré cruzar la barrera de los 68 kg de peso total. Han pasado ya casi 3 semanas desde que empecé a hacer ejercicio y a cambiar mi dieta, y aunque las ganancias parecen ser pequeñas, me siento como una persona completamente diferente en este momento. Tengo más fuerza, estoy comiendo casi el doble de lo que comía cuando empecé, y he subido la resistencia de casi todos mis ejercicios en un 25%. Creo que lo principal fue retomar esos buenos hábitos, y estoy seguro de que si sigo por ese buen camino, voy a empezar a ver más resultados más evidentes físicamente. Por supuesto, todo eso viene a base de un gran esfuerzo, pero estoy dispuesto a hacerlo para lograr mi cometido.
Cambiando un poco de tema, el día de hoy en el blog quisiera hablar acerca del photoshoot que hice con los Seattle Gents para el Seattle Gents Kicks Collection en el blog de los Seattle Gents. Algunos de ustedes quizá ya leyeron ese post (que por cierto, fue escrito y planeado por mí) así que hoy, en vez de hablar acerca del calzado, quisiera hablar sore el resto de mi outfit. Seattle tiene un clima muy constante por 9 de los 12 meses del año (principalmente, nuestras estaciones son el verano y el resto del año). Tiende a pasar de ser un día lluvioso, a luego nublado, a luego un poco de viento, y finalmente más nublado, y fuera de lo común nos logramos salir de ese patrón. El look insignia del Pacífico Noroeste es una chamarra con un gorro, por supuesto, pantalones para todo tipo de clima, manga larga o sudadera, y zapatos que aguanten la lluvia. Esto es una marca de nuestra ciudad, arraigada en cada uno de nosotros tanto como el Seattle Freeze mismo, y es algo que nos hace una de las ciudades a las que los diseñadores de moda voltean a ver con mayor frecuencia para diseñar ropa para todo tipo de clima gracias a su versatilidad.
Para mi sesión con los Gents, decidí replicar este look insignia del Seattle Freeze pero con un pequeño giro, utilizando algunos colores y marcas que no son tan comunes en el Pacífico Noroeste. Aquí me pueden ver utilizando mi parka en color verde olivo de Divided, una marca de H&M, junto con una camiseta de marino con mangas largas de J. Crew y un par de pantalones a prueba de agua de Jeremiah Clothing. Para los accesorios, me fui por mi smartwatch de Skagen Denmark junto con mis lentes de sol Persol. Finalmente, para el calzado opté por utilizar unos tennis en gamuza color negro de Adidas. Tomamos estas increíbles fotografías en la hermosa colonia Capitol Hill con la ayuda de Rickjohn Dodge, quien fue nuestro fotógrafo, y los Gents y yo tuvimos una grata tarde visitando algunos lugares icónicos de la ciudad como son el letrero de la calle Broadway frente a un Rite Aid, la pared de ladrillos roja detrás de Julia’s, y algunos espacios industriales que están por cerrar. ¿Qué opinan amigos? ¿Les gusta este look insignia de Seattle? Bueno amigos eso va a ser todo por hoy. ¡Les tengo grandes noticias! Recordarán que el año pasado asistí a New York Fashion Week en febrero, y pues… esperen… ¡este año estaré asistiendo una vez más! Estoy muy emocionado de poder ver algunos de los shows y diseñadores nuevos de este año, y en comparación al año pasado, este año sólo iré a los eventos de The Shows, que creo fue donde más me divertí y me la pasé bien. Les platicaré un poco más sobre los diseñadores que voy a ver y que voy a hacer en el siguiente post. También les tengo gratas noticias con respecto a los Seattle Gents. Finalmente, hemos anunciado la membresía de los Seattle Gents, la cual con un módico costo mensual, por trimestre, o al año, los expondrá a eventos, patrocinios de marcas, descuentos, y demás en el área de Seattle. Estoy muy feliz de poder ser parte de esta comunidad y siento que es el paso indicado para que esta siga creciendo. Además va a haber muchas oportunidades de colaborar, lo cual va a estar increíble. Nuestro primer evento es de hecho la próxima semana, donde tendremos un panel sobre la Moda y la Tecnología en el edificio ATLAS. ¡Espero que varios de ustedes nos puedan acompañar!
