The Best Man

HELLO EVERYBODY! I’m back! Sorry that it took such a long time to create a new post, but I have been very busy with other projects, travel, and stuff happening at work that I haven’t really had the chance to blog. However, I’ve put everything in place and I’m back to start blogging again. The first thing I want to say is that I really appreciate your support throughout these 3 and a half years (I know right?! Seems like forever). It is your encouragement words along with my passion for fashion and style that has kept me going non-stop for such a long time, so thank you for that. The second thing I have to say is an announcement. I’ve accepted to become content editor and creator for the new Seattle Gents blog, which is called The Seattle Narrative. We’ve already started with a few posts, and you’ll see there the latest fashion tips, event recaps, video content, and even a podcast with regards to being stylish in the beautiful Emerald City. Make sure you check it out and become a follower ASAP!

Today I want to do a very special post in honor of one of my best friends and his fiancée, Pablo and Ilse. This is a very personal post, where you will see some of my best friends, the newlyweds, members of my family, etc. so please forgive the phone quality of the photos. A few weeks ago, I was invited to their wedding in the beautiful coastal town of Los Mochis in the Mexican Pacific Coast. Los Mochis is a port city in the state of Sinaloa, and when I was told this is where the wedding was going to take place I was really excited, since I had never been to this part of the country. When I got to Los Mochis I was greeted with a very warm, dry heat, a gorgeous central plaza with a Cathedral (which is where the wedding was to be held) and beautiful parks and sunsets. I was really excited to be here, because I had been asked by Pablo to be his best man. This meant that I was going to sign and be present in the signing of the legal documents in the legal ceremony, and also that I was going to give a speech the day of the wedding reception.

The first event, the legal ceremony, took place on top of the highest hill of another neighboring port city called Topolobampo. It was here where the legal documents got signed and when the judge proclaimed the marriage legal. For this beautiful venue, where the Pacific Ocean served as our landscape and you could see the tiny port down below, I decided to wear a casual, summer-wedding attire consisting of a pair of light stone pants from Topman and a baby blue button-down from Dolce and Gabbana (which Pablo had given to me as a gift a couple years ago and I thought it would be a nice detail to wear it to his wedding). For the accessories, I went for a green tie from Topman, my Salvatore Ferragamo black leather belt, and a pair of Burberry shades. The next day was the religious ceremony and the wedding reception. Here my friends and I helped Pablo get ready for the wedding (as an expert gent, I helped him do his bow tie as well) and we gathered at the Cathedral to witness the happy couple getting married. For this day, I decided to wear a full-on wedding look comprised of a blue suit from J. Crew, along with a Tommy Hilfiger checkered tie and a blue pocket square also from J. Crew. We danced till dawn and had a great time celebrating their new marriage. What do you folks think? Do you like both of my summer wedding looks? ¡HOLA A TODOS! ¡He vuelto! Perdón por haber tardado tanto tiempo en publicar otro post, pero es que la verdad es que he estado muy ocupado con otros proyectos, viajes y cosas del trabajo, así que no había tenido la oportunidad de escribir para el blog. Sin embargo, ya que todo se encuentra en su lugar estoy listo para empezar a bloggear una vez más. Lo primero que quiero decir es que realmente aprecio el apoyo que recibido de parte de ustedes durante estos 3 años y medio (¡lo sé! Suena a una eternidad). Son sus palabras de aliento junto con mi pasión por la moda y el estilo lo que me ha mantenido sin parar durante tanto tiempo, así que quisiera agradecérselos sobremanera. La segunda cosa que tengo que decir es un pequeño anuncio. He aceptado la posición como editor de contenido y creador para el nuevo blog de los Seattle Gents, The Seattle Narrative. Ya tenemos algunos posts publicados, y es ahí dónde podrán encontrar los mejores tips de moda, recapitulación de eventos, contenido en vídeo e inclusive un podcast todos relacionados con vestirse con estilo en la hermosa Ciudad Esmeralda. ¡Dense una vuelta por aquí y asegúrense de convertirse en seguidores!

El día de hoy quisiera hacer un post muy especial en honor a uno de mis grandes amigos y su novia, Pablo e Ilse. Este es un post mucho más personal, donde podrán ver algunas fotos de mis mejores amigos, de los recién casados, miembros de mi familia, etc. así que perdonen de antemano que la calidad de las fotos es de celular. Hace apenas unas semanas, fui invitado a su boda en un hermoso pueblo costero en el océano Pacífico llamado Los Mochis. Los Mochis es un puerto en el estado de Sinaloa, así que cuando me dijeron que aquí es donde la boda iba a suceder me emocioné bastante, dado que nunca había ido a esta parte del país. Cuando llegué a Los Mochis, me recibió un calor intenso y seco, una hermosa plaza central con una catedral (la cual daría lugar a la boda) y hermosos parques y atardeceres. Estaba extasiado de encontrarme aquí, ya que Pablo me había pedido que fuera su best man. Esto significa que iba a firmar y estar presente en la ceremonia civil, y además que daría un pequeño discurso en la recepción de la boda.

El primer evento, la ceremonia civil, tomó lugar en la cima de la colina más alta de otro puerto cercano llamado Topolobampo. Fue aquí donde los documentos legales fueron firmados y donde el juez proclamó al matrimonio como legal. Para esta hermosa vista, donde el océano Pacífico la hizo de fondo junto con el pequeño pueblo que se ve a la deriva, decidí ponerme una vestimenta casual, muy ad hoc al verano consistiendo de un par de pantalones en color piedra de Topman y una camisa en color azul claro de Dolce and Gabbana (la cual me la regaló Pablo hace algunos años y pensé que sería un bonito detalle ponérmela el día de su boda). Para los accesorios, opté por usar una corbata en color verde de Topman, mi cinto de piel negro Salvatore Ferragamo y un par de lentes de sol Burberry. El día siguiente, fue la ceremonia religiosa y la recepción de la boda. Aquí mis amigos y yo ayudamos a Pablo a arreglarse para la boda (y como soy un experto le ayudé a hacerse el moño del traje) y nos reunimos en la catedral para ser testigos de como la feliz pareja se unía en matrimonio. Para este día, decidí usar un look completo de boda que consiste en mi traje de J. Crew, junto con una corbata de cuadros Tommy Hilfiger y un pañuelo de J. Crew. Bailamos y festejamos hasta que nos amaneció y nos la pasamos muy bien celebrando el nuevo matrimonio. ¿Qué opinan amigos? ¿Les gustan estos dos looks para boda veraniega? Quisiera felicitar nuevamente a Pablo y a Ilse muy fuertemente y desearles mucha felicidad y muchas aventuras en esta nueva vida juntos que comienzan.
