We’re halfway through summer now, and it already started feeling like it here in the Pacific Northwest. For the past week and a half, we’ve been way over our seasonal average (which for Seattle right now it should be around 77F) and this is making this July one of the hottest in the Emerald City ever. Just thinking about how a month ago we were still struggling to get out of the 60s and gray skies, now it’s all 80+ and sunny all day long. The days are the longest this time of the year too, so it feels great to just spend time outside and enjoy the bashing sunshine.
A few weeks ago, the Gents and I were treated to a nice Saturday morning brunch at the local Seattle sports bar Quality Athletics. This restaurant/bar has been around for a few years already, and with a new redesigned menu, we got to try eats and sips by Chef Daniel Cox on their legendary patio by the outside fire-pits. The food was nothing short of delicious, ranging from grilled corn and an asparagus and arugula salad for appetizers, to pork ramen and hamburgers for the main entree, and finally, their famous al pastor fries. All of these were accompanied by a couple well-mixed drinks, beers, and a very nice business chat with the Gents.
To meet up for brunch on this warm Saturday morning I decided to wear a classic combination of a white button-down with a gray waistcoat (since Gareth Southgate, the English National Football Team coach, brought them back at the World Cup they’ve been one of my go-to’s this summer). I paired these with my favorite pink chambray shorts from Club Monaco to give that perfect summer vibe, and for the accessories I went for a bowtie from Topman and a gingham pocket square by J. Crew. For the shoes, I opted for my pair of brown loafers from Nordstrom, and finally some classic aviator shades topped the look. What do you guys think? Do you think I can sport the waistcoat as good as Gareth Southgate does? The World Cup is officially over (congratulations France on your win!) but you could still enjoy your favorite sports event here at Quality Athletics and no doubt you will have the best time. Also we will already be in the month of August, which is my birthday month (I feel so happy and so scared about turning 31 in almost a month from now) so expect some birthday surprises throughout my birthday month. Nos encontramos ya en la mitad del verano y sí que ha comenzado a dejarse sentir aquí en el Pacífico Noroeste. En la última semana y media, hemos estado muy por encima de nuestro promedio de esta temporada (que para Seattle ahorita debiera ser alrededor de los 25C) y está convirtiéndose este en uno de los meses de julio más calientes en la historia de la ciudad Esmeralda. De tan sólo pensar que hace un mes a duras penas lograba subir de 20C y cielos nublados, ahora a estar por encima de los 30C casi a diario y completamente despejado. Los días en esta parte del año son más largos, y se siente muy bien estar en el exterior disfrutando de los rayos de sol.
Hace algunas semanas, los Gents y yo fuimos invitados a un brunch sabatino en el bar deportivo local de Seattle Quality Athletics. Este restaurante/bar tiene ya un par de años en funcionamiento, y con nuevo y rediseñado menú, tuvimos la oportunidad de probar tanto comida como bebida proporcionada por el Chef Daniel Cox en su legendario patio exterior junto a las fogatas. La comida estuvo deliciosa, abarcando desde elote asado y ensalada de arúgula con espárragos como entrada, a un ramen de puerco y hamburguesas para el plato principal, y finalmente sus famosas papas al pastor. Todo esto acompañado de un par de bebidas mixtas, cervezas y una excelente plática de negocios con los otros Gents.
Para reunirme de brunch esa cálida mañana sabatina decidí ponerme una combinación clásica de camisa de botones blanca con un chaleco en color gris (desde que Gareth Southgate trajo el chaleco de vuelta en la Copa del Mundo dirigiendo a la selección de Inglaterra se ha convertido en uno de mis predilectos este verano). Escogí además ponerme un par de shorts de lino en color rosa de Club Monaco para darle ese perfecto toque veraniego y, para los accesorios, me puse un moño de Topman y un pañuelo de cuadros de J. Crew. Para los zapatos, opté por mi par de zapatos tipo mocasín de Nordstrom, y finalmente unos lentes estilo aviador para completar el look. ¿Qué opinan? ¿Creen que puedo lucir el chaleco tan bien como lo hace Gareth Southgate? La Copa Mundial ha concluido (¡felicidades a Francia por ser la ganadora!) pero aún pueden disfrutar de su evento deportivo predilecto aquí en Quality Athletics y sin duda se la van a pasar de lujo. Quisiera también agradecer a Antonio y a Avi por tomar estas excelentes fotografías de la comida y de los Gents.

Como saben, al temporada de la NFL está a la vuelta de la esquina, así que quizás este puede ser un buen lugar para ver alguno de los juegos de los Seahawks (y se encuentra justo al lado del estadio en Pioneer Square). La próxima vez les contaré todo acerca del evento Couture and Cars, el cual fue un total éxito. También nos encontraremos ya en el mes de agosto, mes en el cual cumplo años (estoy muy feliz y a la vez asustado de cumplir 31 años en aproximadamente un mes) así que esperen muchas sorpresas de cumpleaños durante todo el mes.
