Beckett & Robb x Seattle Gents

Hello folks! How’s everyone doing? Last week, the Seattle Gents gathered once again in a very special collaboration with Beckett & Robb, a tailored custom suit maker that is revolutionizing the way in which couture menswear is made. We met up at their downtown Seattle flagship store, and were served to a nice mix of drinks, music, and of course, fashion. We also got to try out some supplies from The Art of Shaving. In my case, I got the signature beard wash and conditioners made from peppermint oil. It was really awesome to see much higher involvement from the menswear fashion community this time; the turnout was great and we overall had an amazing time together.

During this event, we were pleased to meet Beckett & Robb’s co-founder Derek Bleazard, who in a very casual way, gave us a small talk about how he started the company and what he has learned along the way. Leaving your day job and starting a new business from scratch is something that definitely sounds daring and exciting, and it was great to see what challenges he has faced during this transition. We were also joined by Scott Parker-Anderson, who’s the manager of the downtown Seattle location, and we got to know a little bit of the process behind making these amazing bespoke suits.

For my meet up with the Seattle Gents, I decided to wear my custom two-piece gray-patterned suit that I got a few weeks ago precisely from Beckett & Robb. It all started about a month and a half ago, when I made an appointment at their downtown store to get my measurements and design the suit. It was my first time buying a custom suit, and Scott, who manages the Seattle location, made sure that my first time designing a suit was pleasant and memorable. From choosing the fabric, to choosing the suit’s style, number of buttons, type of lapels, cuffs, inside layer fabric, among other tiny details, Scott guided me through the complete design of a suit, and after getting the measurements the suit went off to be cut and assembled in Europe.

About 5 weeks after that meeting, I got an email message saying that my suit had arrived. I must mention that during all this time I was being notified of which part of the process my suit was undergoing, from cutting, to pressing, to final adjustments, etc. I was always up to date with my suit’s status! I was extremely satisfied once I was able to see the finalized result, and I’d definitely do this another time because it was so much fun. I paired my custom suit with a stone textured tie from Topman and a double pocket square combination from Club Monaco. For the shoes, I went for my brown Chelsea boots from Aldo and a tie bar to top off the look. What do you guys think? Considering getting one of these for yourself as well? There are plenty of Beckett & Robb locations so I suggest you look for one of them online and see if you can make it to one, I definitely recommend it.

¡Hola amigos! ¿Cómo están? La semana pasada, los Seattle Gents nos reunimos una vez más para una especial colaboración con Beckett & Robb, una tienda de trajes hechos a la medida que está revolucionando la forma en que la ropa formal de hombre se hace y diseña. Nos vimos en su tienda insignia en el centro de Seattle y, fuimos bienvenidos con una mezcla de bebidas, música y sobre todo, mucha moda. Tuvimos la oportunidad además de probar algunas muestras de The Art of Shaving. En mi caso, pude obtener muestras de sus ya conocidos aceites y acondicionadores para barba hechos con aceite de yerbabuena. Fue increíble el ver a la comunidad de la moda masculina tan involucrada para este evento; asistió bastante gente y en general nos la pasamos muy bien juntos.

Durante este evento, contamos con la grata presencia del co-fundador de Beckett & Robb Derek Bleazard, quien de manera muy casual nos dio una charla acerca de cómo empezó esta compañía y que aprendizajes a tenido sobre la marcha. Dejar atrás un trabajo diario y corporativo para emprender un nuevo negocio desde cero definitivamente suena retador y emocionante y, fue muy grato que nos compartiera los obstáculos por los que pasó para llegar a esta transición. También en el evento se encontraba Scott Parker-Anderson, quien es el administrador y dueño de la locación en Seattle y, pudimos aprender un poco más acerca del proceso y la creación de estos ejemplares y únicos trajes.

Para mi reunión con los Seattle Gents, decidí vestir precisamente este traje gris con patrón de cuadros de dos piezas que compré en Beckett & Robb hace algunas semanas. Todo empezó hace alrededor de mes y medio, cuando hice una cita en línea para asistir a la tienda del centro de Seattle para tomar mis medidas y diseñar un traje. Era mi primera vez comprando un traje hecho a la medida y Scott, quien administra la tienda de Seattle, se aseguró de que mi primera vez diseñando un traje fuera placentera y memorable. Desde elegir el tipo de tela, el estilo del traje, el número de botones, el tipo de solapa, de mancuernas, del forro interior, y otros pequeños detalles, Scott me guio por el proceso completo de diseñar un traje y, tras ser tomadas mis medidas, estas fueron enviadas a Europa para que el traje fuera cortado y armado en el viejo continente.

Unas 5 semanas después de esa cita, obtuve un correo electrónico diciendo que mi traje ya había llegado. Debo comentar que durante todo el trayecto se me fue notificando de en qué parte del proceso se encontraba mi traje, desde cortado, planchado, ajustes finales, etc. ¡Siempre me mantuvieron al tanto del estado de mi pedido! Cuando llegó el traje yo estaba completamente satisfecho con los resultados y, definitivamente lo volvería a hacer porque fue muy divertido. Combiné mi traje a la medida con una corbata color piedra texturizada de Topman y dos pañuelos de diferentes colores de Club Monaco. Para los zapatos, me puse mis botas estilo Chelsea de Aldo y para terminar el look le puse un pisa corbatas. ¿Qué opinan amigos? ¿Están considerando mandar hacerse un traje a la medida? Hay varias tiendas de Beckett & Robb en Estados Unidos, así que les sugiero buscar en línea si les queda cerca alguna de ellas, ya que se los recomiendo ampliamente.
