Hi folks! Happy First day of Summer! Yesterday was the summer solstice, and even though it was 60 degrees and raining in Seattle, the weekend is looking so much better ahead. I’m also super excited for the warmer weather and for wearing shorts and tank tops very soon. So, last weekend was Father’s Day, both here in the USA and in Mexico, and if you’re like me, you might have still to get your dad a gift (maybe because he might be living far away and therefore because of shipping, you still have time to send a Father’s Day gift). In reality, it’s never too late, nor too early, to get a gift for your dad, whether it’s Father’s Day, his birthday, or any other especial occasion, so today, I bring you the most complete guide of not-too-late Father’s Day gifts that you could get for your dad or to any guy you know actually, from nowhere else than from local Seattle brand Filson Co.
I’ve grouped my suggestions in three different categories: bags, clothes, and accessories. The first section is going to be about bags, because whether you’re going on a vacation, or a camping trip, or just for your every day work things, we as guys always need some stylish bags to put our stuff in, and Filson has got us covered. For instance, this all-purpose duffle pack is the perfect, two-in-one bag for either carrying your gym stuff or your soccer practice clothes as a duffle, and doubles up as a backpack for that camping trip or hike. The fabric it’s made of is lightweight, tear-resistant nylon, perfect to endure the elements of the weather no matter where dad takes it. It also has multiple pockets, which comes in handy when needing that extra space. The second bag I’m going to recommend is the small Pullman, which is designed to fit perfectly under that Pullman cart or under an airplane seat. It’s so spacious that it could be your only bag for a carry-on only flight, and features a removable leather strap for easy holding. Finally, the original briefcase is the perfect addition to your workbag inventory, with space for a 15″ laptop, eight pockets for organization, and an adjustable leather strap. Any of these three bags would definitely make dad feel super special!
For clothing, Filson also has multiple items perfect for dad, such as the lightweight Jac-shirt. This functional, spring work jacket is perfect for dads that like to spend some time outdoors and need to feel warm and protect themselves from the weather. It comes in two different colors, and the flannel-lined handwarmer pockets are the perfect touch for those cold nights in the wilderness. Another great piece for your father this day is the ultra-light vest. Whether worn on the trail or as a layering piece, this garment will make sure that dad is prepared for the outdoors anytime, and the removable streamlined build can either be worn on its own or as a tandem. Last but not least, the short sleeve button down is perfect for spending a day near the river. With the plaid design and it’s different colors, this multifuncional piece would be a great add to dad’s closet, and the comfort is just wonderful (I’ve tried one of these and they feel amazing).
Finally we have the accessories, which are my favorite type of gift because you don’t need to know the exact size, and they tend to be more helpful and affordable than other items. For this Father’s day, I’d recommend the saddle-grade Bridle belt. It’s a must-have in any wardrobe to have a leather belt, and this brown-and-gold or silver-and-black addition would be perfect to combine with any type of outfit. The look and feel of this leather is incredible, and I’d recommend that you also get your dad’s name monogrammed so that it feels more special. Another thing that can never go wrong is a wallet, and this snap wallet from Filson can fit cash, change, receipts, and more. It comes in leather as well, so the look and finish is very high-quality and the nylon thread adds a lot of durability. Last but not least, we have the pocket card case, which could be useful for those dads that don’t like to carry the big wallet around and just need a credit card and some cash in hand. It is also made in Bridle leather and it comes with a reusable Moleskin bag. I think dad would be happy to have any of these items, but if you are not convinced with any of these I’d suggest you visit their website or even their store if you happen to be in Seattle, I’m sure they have something for your needs.
Well, that’s going to be it for the day my friends. I hope that the gift guide was helpful, and sorry for the lateness but it’s never late to give dad a gift. Also tell your dads that you love them, since any day is good for that as well. Next two weekends are fully packed with fun, being Pride this first weekend and then the 4th of July weekend. For Pride I’ll be doing lots of activities here in Seattle and marching with Microsoft at the parade for the second year in a row, so I’m very excited. As for the 4th of July weekend, I’m going to Lake Chelan with a couple of friends to enjoy some sunny, hot weather by the lake. We also have a boat trip scheduled, so I’m super stoked about it. Also, there’s an event coming next week with the Seattle Gents. I’ll post more details about that on my social media. Now remember to be stylish at all times and to let your voice be heard. See you next time with more fashion posts. Till next time!
