Hello my readers! Today we’re back with our style posts, after a few weeks of traveling because of the Thanksgiving holidays, and I want to talk about one topic in particular which I think is very important and that I don’t address that often: dressing to work in a smart way. One of the main reasons why I decided to write this blog was to show people that you can be stylish with your everyday clothes that you wear to work daily, and that style goes beyond having clothes that are too flashy, or are from a certain brand, or that grab too much attention. However, when dressing for work one of the most important things is to dress in a smart way, be prepared for the different situations you might have to face, and of course, think of fit and proportions so you always look sharp.

One of the most important things about dressing smartly for work is to wear multiple layers. Especially this time of the year, when it could be really cold outside but the areas inside buildings can be extremely warm because of heaters, it is a must that your outfit comprises multiple layers that you can take on and off with ease. Think about this situation, you’re in a meeting close to your office, but then you have to go to a different meeting in another building. For that, you need to be able to run quickly by your office, grab a jacket and scarf, dress yourself while running down the stairs and walk to the next meeting. Heavy coats or jackets with a zipper are perfect for this situation, and adding a scarf will help you look a little more put together if you dress very quickly, and it will protect your neck from the quick change in temperatures.

Another very important aspect about dressing smartly to work is to use more neutral tones on your main elements, and let a few things pop out like a pattern on a shirt or your socks. You don’t want to be a huge attention grabber at work, mainly because you have other things to talk about with people, but it’s still nice to have some variety or pop of color in your look. In my case, I love using the same patterned shirts that I wear in the summer, and just make them a bit more appropriate for the weather by adding a sweater or a cardigan. This will also provide a lot of versatility to your wardrobe, since you can mix-and-match your sweaters with your button-downs and each outfit is unique, just make sure that they go well together in terms of patterns and colors. Lastly, make sure that you can combine these with a nice pair of good-fitting jeans or chinos so that you look sharp and comfortable.

El día de hoy estoy de regreso con mis posts de estilo, después de un par de semanas con posts de viaje debido al Día de Acción de Gracias y quiero hablarles sobre un tema en particular que me parece muy importante y que no toco tan a menudo: vestirse para el trabajo de forma inteligente. Una de las principales razones por las que decidí empezar a escribir este blog fue para mostrarle a la gente que uno puede vestirse con estilo en su atuendo del día a día para el trabajo y, que el estilo va más allá de tener ropa muy llamativa, o de cierta marca o que capturé demasiada atención. Sin embargo, cuando uno se viste para el trabajo una de las cosas más importantes es vestirse de forma inteligente, estar preparado para las diferentes situaciones a las que nos podemos enfrentar, y por supuesto, tener en cuenta que el ajuste y las proporciones sean las adecuadas para siempre vernos impecables.

Uno de los aspectos principales en vestirse inteligentemente para el trabajo es utilizar múltiples capas. Especialmente en esta época del año, cuando puede que haga mucho frío afuera pero las áreas interiores de los edificios están muy calientes por culpa de los calentadores, es necesario que tú outfit comprenda de varias capas que puedas quitarte y ponerte con facilidad. Piensa en este escenario, estás en una junta cerca de tu oficina, pero pronto tienes que ir a una junta en otro edificio. Para ello, necesitas poder ir corriendo rápido a tu oficina, tomar una chamarra y bufanda, vestirte mientras bajas las escaleras y caminar a la siguiente junta. Los abrigos gruesos y las chamarras con zipper son ideales para esta situación y, si añadimos una bufanda, te vas a ver más arreglado si te vistes muy rápidamente y va a protegerte del cambio de temperaturas.

Otro aspecto a considerar para vestirse de forma inteligente al trabajo es usar tonos más neutros en tus elementos principales del outfit, y dejar que un poco de color se asome en el patrón de tu camisa o de tus calcetines. No quieres ser esa persona que llama mucho la atención en el trabajo, principalmente porque va a haber muchas otras cosas de las que quieras hablar con la gente además de tu look, pero aún así se ve bien tener un poco de variedad. En mi caso, me gusta usar las mismas camisas con patrones que uso en verano y apropiarlas un poco al clima añadiendo un suéter o un cárdigan. Esto también le va a proveer de versatilidad a tu guardarropa, ya que puedes mezclar tus suéteres con tus camisas de botones y cada outfit es único, sólo asegúrate de que el suéter le vaya a la camisa en términos de patrones y colores. Por último, combina estos con un par de pantalones de mezclilla que te queden bien o con un par de chinos para que te veas cómodo y que se vea que le pusiste esfuerzo a elegirlos.
