Hello friends! Happy Wednesday! Another month has gone by, and I’m not lying guys, as soon as the calendar hit September 1 we were back to cloudy skies, cooler temperatures, and rain. That can only mean one thing: fall is approaching! I’m super happy about the weather turning cooler again, because that’s the sign that we needed for taking out the jackets, scarves, coats, and all the amazing accessories that we normally use in the fall from our closets. September is one of my favorite months of the year. It’s that time when the leaves on the trees start to turn yellow and red to eventually fall to the ground, making a beautiful scene all across the PWN. It’s also when New York Fashion Week takes place, which even though I’m not there in person this year, brings so many new trends and ideas throughout all the blogs and magazines and I can’t wait to see and read it all. It’s like if Christmas has arrived a bit earlier!
As I mentioned in the last post, my trip to Mexico was nothing short of amazing. Today I want to show you the first part of my Mexico City trip photos, which I have been super eager and excited to show to you all. While in the beautiful CDMX, we decided to visit the ancient city of Teotihuacan, which is just a 45 min drive north of Mexico City. These ruins were once home to the mexicas, almost two thousand years ago, and the name means “city of the gods”. The mexicas thrived in this area for more than 700 years, building during this period the majestic Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. Nowadays, one can walk the ancient Calzada de los Muertos, located between the two pyramids, just to be witness of hundreds of thousands of visitors who climb them every year to receive their dose of positive energy, especially during the spring equinox. It is the most popular archeological site for tourists in Mexico, even more than Chichen Itza and Tajin, and constitutes a real jewel of our past and our legacy.
To match the colorful, extraordinary patterns of the ancient pyramids, I decided to wear a very youthful combination of two different prints on my short-sleeve button down and my shorts. I chose a white shirt from EXPRESS along with some floral, brown print shorts from H&M. These shorts contrasted beautifully with the weathered, old stone steps of the pyramids, and the white shirt just gave the whole look a super fresh vibe, since it was well above 80 degrees when we visited and with a very high humidity. For the shoes, I opted to wear some leather sneakers from 21 Men and I was also wearing my favorite pair of shades from Burberry. Finally, I was wearing my Microsoft Band to track all my exercise from the day, which was insane! During my time in Mexico City, I averaged around 20,000 steps a day! Overall it was a great visit and towards the afternoon we were caught by drenching rain and thunderstorms so we had to leave before they closed. What do you guys think? It’s incredible how rich in culture Mexico City is; it’s one of the reasons why I believe it’s one of the best cities in the world. Next time, I’ll be showing you another historical site from a whole different era, just to contrast the difference a thousand years can make in the same city, so stay tuned. I’m also really excited because next week I’ll be traveling back to Mexico (I know right! I’ve been racking ALL the miles with these trips though) but this time I’m going on a recruiting trip to the city of Guadalajara. It’s been almost 10 years since I was there the last time, so I’m looking forward to visit the Perla Tapatia once more. ¡Hola amigos! ¡Feliz miércoles! Un mes más que se nos va y, no les miento, tan pronto el calendario dio el primero de septiembre, regresamos a los días nublados, frescos y con lluvia. Eso sólo puede significar una cosa: ¡el otoño se acerca! Estoy muy feliz de que empiece a refrescar una vez más, ya que es señal de que tenemos que sacar las chamarras, bufandas y abrigos del clóset, junto con los demás accesorios que solemos usar en otoño. Septiembre es uno de mis meses favoritos del año. Es ese tiempo en que las hojas de los árboles comienzan a tornarse amarillas y rojas antes de eventualmente caer al suelo, dándonos un paisaje hermosísimo en el Pacífico Noroeste. Es también en estas fechas cuando New York Fashion Week toma lugar, trayendo muchas ideas y tendencias a todos los blogs de moda y revistas y no puedo esperar por leerlo todo. ¡Es como si navidad hubiera llegado un poco antes!
Como les mencioné en mi post pasado, mi viaje a México estuvo simplemente increíble. Hoy les quiero enseñar la primara parte de mis fotografías en la Ciudad de México, que he estado ansioso por mostrarles a todos. Mientras estábamos en la hermosa CDMX, decidimos visitar la ciudad antigua de Teotihuacán, la cual se encuentra a tan sólo 45 minutos en carro al norte de la Ciudad de México. Estas ruinas fueron en algún tiempo hogar de los mexicas, hace casi 2 mil años, y su nombre significa “ciudad de los dioses”. Los mexicas se proliferaron en esta área por más de 700 años, construyendo durante este período las majestuosas Pirámides del Sol y la Luna. Hoy en día, uno puede dar el recorrido por la Calzada de los Muertos, localizada entre estas dos pirámides, para ser testigo de cientos de miles de turistas que las escalan cada año para recibir su buena dosis de energía positiva, especialmente en el equinoccio de primavera. Es el sitio arqueológico más popular para los turistas en todo México, aún más que Chichén Itzá y Tajín, y constituye una verdadera joya de nuestro pasado y nuestra herencia.
Para combinar con los coloridos y extraordinarios patrones de las antiguas pirámides, decidí ponerme un conjunto muy juvenil de dos diferentes estampados en mi camisa de manga corta y mis shorts. Escogí esta camisa blanca de EXPRESS junto con unos shorts cafés con detalles florales de H&M. Estos shorts contrastan de manera muy bonita con los escaldaños viejos y desgastados de las pirámides y, la camisa blanca le dio a todo el look una sensación muy fresca, ya que estábamos a más de 28 grados cuando visitamos y había mucha humedad. Para los zapatos, me puse estos tenis de piel de 21 Men y también usé mis lentes favoritos de Burberry. Finalmente, traía puesta mi Microsoft Band para llevar registro de mi ejercicio en el día a día, ¡el cuál fue demasiado! Durante mi estadía en la Ciudad de México, ¡caminé en promedio 20,000 pasos al día! En general fue una visita muy agradable y ya cuando se acercaba la tarde nos pescaron una lluvia torrencial y tormentas eléctricas así que tuvimos que irnos antes de que cerraran. ¿Qué opinan al respecto? ¿Qué lugares les hacen sentir recuerdos de las raíces y la herencia de un país a ustedes? Eso va a ser todo por hoy mis amigos. Espero que hayan aprendido algo interesante acerca de mi bello país el día de hoy. Es increíble lo rica que es la Ciudad de México en términos de cultura; es una de las razones por las que creo que es de las mejores ciudades del mundo. La próxima vez, les mostraré fotos de otro sitio histórico de una era completamente distinta, sólo para contrastar lo que una diferencia de miles de años le puede hacer a la misma ciudad, así que manténganse al pendiente. También estoy muy emocionado porque la siguiente semana viajaré de nuevo a México (ya sé lo que están pensando, pero al menos me están dando muchas millas con estos viajes) pero esta vez iré a Guadalajara en un viaje de reclutamiento. Hace ya 10 años que visité por última vez a esa ciudad, así que estoy contento por volver a la Perla Tapatía. Los dejo por ahora, no sin antes recordarles que se vistan con estilo y que dejen que los demás escuchen su voz.
