A Wedding in Paradise

Hello my readers! I’m back from my travels in Mexico, and I must say, how much did I miss my home country! From the beautiful, sandy beaches in the paradise that is Cabo San Lucas, to the incredible cultural heritage that is Teotihuacan in the outskirts of Mexico City, to the delicious food and the warm, friendly embrace from its people, there’s no doubt that Mexico is a very rich, beautiful country. It’s rich in culture, diversity, natural gems, and in history, and every time I get to go back I discover something new and wonderful about it. This time, I traveled to Los Cabos to share and witness the marriage of two really good friends of mine, Ivan and Alex, in the golden, radiant beach resort of Pueblo Bonito Pacifica. The ceremony was nothing short of perfect. The two grooms walked down the aisle in their best, stone-colored suits through a cheering crowd with their families, friends, and relatives, to declare their love for each other and join their lives forever.

For this very special occasion, I decided to wear a very fresh, beach-inspired outfit since, in contrast to a regular wedding, in a beach wedding one must wear something that’s not too formal, breathable, and of course, colorful. My outfit consisted of an Irish cotton-linen shirt in pink paired with some essential khaki chinos, both from J. Crew. For the shoes, I went for these beautiful red leather sandals from Aldo, which are extremely comfortable mainly because they don’t have a finger division, like most flip flops do, and finally I topped the look with my favorite pair of sunglasses from Topman. The outfit ended up looking great, and I was able to enjoy the wedding without feeling too hot. What do you think? Have any of you been to a beach wedding before? Those photos will be making their appearance in the blog very soon. I must also say that turning 29 this past Friday was an eye-opening experience. I’m so impressed by how different my life is every year, but if there’s one constant it’s that I’m always surrounded by a wonderful group of family and friends and that the love I feel for them just increases year after year. I feel really blessed to be able to add another year to the books and I’m going to make this year, the last of my twenties, my best year yet. ¡Hola mis lectores! Me encuentro de vuelta después de mi viaje a México y, debo admitir, ¡cuánto extrañaba a mi país de origen! Desde las bellas playas de arena en el paraíso que es Cabo San Lucas, al increíble legado cultural que es Teotihuacán en las afueras de la Ciudad de México, a la deliciosa comida y el cálido y amigable abrazo de su gente, no hay duda de que México es un país hermoso y rico. Es rico en cultura, diversidad, joyas naturales y en historia y, cada vez que tengo la oportunidad de regresar, descubro algo nuevo y sorprendete acerca de él. Esta vez, volé a Los Cabos para presenciar la unión en matrimonio de dos grandes amigos míos, Iván y Alex, en el radiante hotel Pueblo Bonito Pacífica. Nada le faltó a la ceremonia para ser perfecta. Los novios caminaron hacia el altar en sus mejores trajes color piedra y andando entre una multitud que gritaba de felicidad, conformada por sus familiares, amigos y conocidos, se declararon su amor mutuo y decidieron unir sus vidas para siempre.

Para esta ocasión tan especial, decidí vestir un atuendo muy fresco, inspirado en la playa, ya que en contraste con una boda tradicional, en una boda en la playa uno debe vestir algo no tan formal, que permita que el cuerpo respire, y sobre todo, más colorido. Mi outfit consistió en una camisa de lino y algodón irlandesa en tono rosa claro emparejada con unos pantalones chinos color khaki muy esenciales, ambos de J. Crew. Para el calzado, opté por un par de sandalias de piel en tono rojizo de Aldo, las cuales resultaron ser extremadamente cómodas principalmente porque no tienen la división del dedo, como la mayoría de las chanclas lo tienen y, finalmente, terminé el look con mi par favorito de lentes de sol de Topman. El atuendo se terminó viendo espectacular y, además, pude disfrutar de la boda sin sentir mucho el calor. ¿Qué opinan? ¿Alguno de ustedes ha ido a una boda en la playa antes? Quisiera agradecer a mi roommate por haber tomado estas fotos antes de la ceremonia en los bellos pasillos de nuestro lujoso hotel.

¡Eso va a ser todo por hoy! En los siguientes posts pueden esperar más fotografías de mis outfits durante mi viaje a México (después de la boda me fui a la Ciudad de México a celebrar mi cumpleaños con algunos de mis mejores amigos). Esas fotos harán su aparición en el blog muy próximamente. Debo decir que el haber cumplido 29 años este viernes pasado fue una experiencia que me abrió los ojos. Estoy muy impresionado por ver lo mucho que cambia mi vida año con año, pero si es que hay algo constante en ella, es que siempre estoy rodeado de un maravilloso grupo de familiares y amigos y que el amor que siento por ellos sólo se hace más grande. Me siento muy afortunado y agradecido de poder añadir un año más al libro de mi vida y me ocuparé en hacer de este, el último año de mis veintes, el mejor hasta ahora. Los dejo por ahora, no sin antes recordarles que se vistan con estilo y que dejen que los demás escuchen su voz.
