Summer is finally here guys! After the long wait (especially here in Seattle where a little sunshine and warmth were long due) summer has come and with it comes all the summer favorites we like and love. This is a great opportunity to put away all those heavy jackets and coats that won’t be needed for a while, and revamp your closet with fresh, new summer attire. As I’ve been saying for a while now, this season the most popular colors are lighter and more neutral than in previous years. This is a trend that I keep seeing and that will probably stay current for a while. Of course that doesn’t mean you can’t wear some pop of color in your outfits, it is in fact, a great way of making that colorful shirt or shorts shine even more. And simple and minimalistic shapes and forms are also hitting back with a punch, with the 90s being one of the biggest influences in this summer’s trends.
From a while now, you might remember a collaboration I did with local Seattle brand YaJoe, where I showed you their most popular piece, the Mach pant, which has become quite useful for me in this wait for summertime. Well, today I partner with YaJoe once again, but this time I want to show you their latest spring/summer collection for the 2016 season. This post features 3 different moods that are perfect for summer, and you can get any of these pieces now through their online website. My relationship and fondness to this brand has grown a lot over the past months. It all started when I met lead designer Aaron and graphics/content manager Eliam at one of the Seattle Fashion Industry Networking events, and we instantly had the feeling and the idea of collaborating more profoundly. They invited me to their influencers research study group, which is where I realized how committed they are to their customers and their brand, which I fell in love with. Their attention to detailed design and functionality is what makes most of these pieces really special, and today I feel proud to present you with some of my favorites from their newest collection.
The first summer outfit I want to talk about is this orange and sand striped t-shirt, rightly named Ada Striped tee, and blue 8″ Bit shorts combination I’m wearing on the first set of photos. This outfit would be perfect for say, hanging out at the beach with friends or going for an afternoon stroll around the park. I love the colors on the t-shirt, they’re so current and vibrant, and the fabric is super light and very fresh. As I’ve said before, one of the main ideas around these clothes is functionality. This can be seen in the phone side pockets, which are carefully placed so you can access your phone while seated, and the smart clip, which can be useful for clipping your sunglasses or your work badge. I decided to pair this outfit with my Sperry Topsiders to give it an even more beachy look, and the leather belt is a very nice finishing touch.
My next outfit is something a bit more casual, but equally fresh and summer-ready, comprised of a light blue short-sleeve button-down, the Aw-Shirt, on a cement pair of Bit shorts. This outfit, which I decided to style with a straw hat to give it a slight sophisticated touch, is perfect for that city goer, and gives this a very touristy vibe. Once again the fabric of this shirt is exquisite, feeling very relaxed and well-ventilated for one of those hot, summer days. The color scheme is lighter than the previous one, but the combination of these colors works almost like magic, which is what makes it a can’t miss for your closet. Also I must mention that these shorts are very comfortable and versatile, so they would go well with t-shirt, button-down, or polo shirt and will always look and feel great on you. Last but not least, we have the orange and white faux button-up, the Arcus, along with some cement Mech pants v1.1. This combo creates a very chill, golfer kinda look and is perfect for that typical summer day when the wind blows a bit and you still need a light jacket. I paired this combination with two different jackets, a darker one and a lighter one in color. They are both ultra comfortable, made of a special fabric called Feel-Cool, and are relaxed in fit and in style. I styled this outfit with my navy blue hat from Topman and white sneakers, ready to hit the golf course anytime. What do you think? ¡El verano finalmente llegó! Después de una larga espera (especialmente aquí en Seattle donde un poco de sol y calor ya nos hacían mucha falta) el verano está aquí y con él vienen muchas de las prendas de verano favoritas que todos amamos. Esta es una gran oportunidad para guardar todas esas chamarras gruesas y abrigos que no se van a necesitar por un rato y renovar tu clóset con ropa nueva, fresca y veraniega. Como les venía diciendo desde hace varios posts, esta temporada los colores más claros y neutros están más de moda que en años pasados. Esta es una tendencia que sigo viendo y que probablemente seguirá vigente por un buen rato. Eso, claro, no significa que no puedas agregar algo de color a tu outfit, de hecho, es una excelente forma de hacer que una camisa o unos shorts coloridos brillen todavía más. Y las formas más simples y minimalistas están volviendo a pegar fuertemente, siendo los 90s una de las más grandes influencias en las tendencias veraniegas.
Quizá recuerden ya de hace un buen rato, una colaboración que hice con la marca local de Seattle YaJoe, en donde les mostré su pieza más popular, el pantalón Mach, el cual me ha sido muy útil en esta espera por la llegada del verano. Bueno, el día de hoy me junté una vez más con mis amigos de YaJoe y les traigo sus piezas más significativas de su más nueva colección para la primavera-verano del 2016. Este post les presentará 3 outfits en circunstancias diferentes que son perfectos para esta temporada, y pueden conseguir cualquiera de estas piezas desde este momento en su página web. Mi relación y cariño por esta marca ha crecido bastante en los últimos meses. Todo comenzó cuando conocí a Aaron, diseñador en jefe y a Eliam, administrador de contenidos y gráficos, en uno de los eventos de networking de la industria de la moda aquí en Seattle y, al instante, sentimos el impulso de colaborar más profundamente. Me invitaron a uno de sus estudios de mercado con otros clientes, que es donde me di cuenta de lo comprometidos que están con sus compradores y su marca, algo que me ha encantado. También es su atención al diseño detallado y a la funcionalidad lo que hace de estas piezas unas muy especiales y el día de hoy me siento orgulloso en poder presentarles algunas de mis favoritas de su más reciente colección.
El primer outfit de verano que les voy a enseñar es esta camiseta de rayas en color naranja y arena, correctamente llamada Ada Striped Tee, en combinación con estos shorts de 8″ llamados Bit que estoy vistiendo en el primer set de fotos. Este look estaría perfecto para ir, por ejemplo, un día a la playa con amigos o para caminar tranquilamente por el parque durante el atardecer. Me encantan los colores de la camiseta, son tan vibrantes y están muy de moda, y la tela de la que esta hecha es súper ligera y bastante fresca. Como ya les había comentado, una de las ideas principales detrás de estos diseños es la funcionalidad. Esto lo podemos ver en los bolsillos laterales para el celular, los cuales fueron puestos ahí pensando en que puedas sacarlo mientras estás sentado y el smart clip, que sirve para colgar tus lentes de sol o tu badge del trabajo. Decidí complementar este outfit con mis Sperry Topsiders para darle todavía un look más playero y el cinto de piel también ayuda a darle un muy buen toque.
El siguiente atuendo es algo todavía más casual, pero igualmente fresco y listo para vestirse en verano, que consiste en una camisa de manga corta de botones en color azul claro, la Aw-Shirt, con un par de shorts color cemento Bit. Este outfit, el cual decidí adornar con un sombrero para darle un toque sofisticado, es perfecto para esa persona que vive en la ciudad y da una sensación como de turista. Una vez más, la tela de esta camisa es exquisita, se siente súper relajada y muy bien ventilada para esos días de calor más extremo. La paleta de colores es un poco más clara que la anterior, pero la combinación de estos dos colores funciona casi como por arte de magia, por lo que no les pueden hacer falta en sus guardarropas. También debo comentar que estos shorts son extremadamente cómodos y versátiles, le van bien a una camiseta, una camisa de botones o una camiseta polo y siempre se verán y sentirán súper bien en ellos. Ya por último les presento esta camiseta de botones escondidos, la Arcus, con un par de pantalones Mech v1.1 en color cemento. Esta combinación crea un look muy chill, como de golfista y es perfecto para ese típico día en verano donde sopla el viento y se requiere de una chamarra ligera. Combiné este atuendo con dos chamarras distintas, una en color oscuro y una en un tono más claro. Las dos son muy cómodas de usar, hechas de una tela especial llamada Feel-Cool y tienen un ajuste muy relax y a la moda. Para los accesorios me puse mi gorra azul marino de Topman y unos tenis blancos, listo para ir al club de golf en cualquier momento.
