His & Hers (Tulip Fields)

Hey folks! I’m back in Seattle and it feels so good to be home after a great weekend at Coachella. This year was a blatant success at the Southern California festival and I can’t wait to share my pics and videos with you very soon. To my surprise, Seattle received me with the warmest day of the year so far on Monday, and warmest day in April ever for the city of Seattle. The temperature was 86 degrees, which might not be too much but hey even in summer we sometimes don’t get above 80 that often, so for that early in the year it is pretty impressing. More impressing is that just a few days before that we were in the 50s with rain, it’s very interesting to see how drastically the weather changes here in the Pacific Northwest in the spring.

As I mentioned a few posts ago, my blog BFF and partner in crime Kim from HelloKimWin and I have been preparing a very pleasant surprise for you. Without much farther ado, here it is, our photoshoot from the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival this year. Kim and I got really lucky on this morning adventure since there was almost no one there but us, so we were able to take a lot of great photos with some of our new camera equipment. Kim got a new camera from Dara, and gosh does it do the job well! The photos from that camera come out so good that they are blog-ready the moment you take them. As for myself, I got a new tripod, which we could use to take photos of us together without having to ask a random stranger to snap a pic for us. Yay for technology (although I must admit that it was quite funny setting the camera to timer mode and then having to run through tulip rows to get to where Kim was).

For this edition of the His and Hers series, Kim and I decided to travel up north to the Skagit Valley for the already well-known tulip festival. This is Kim’s eight year in a row going to the tulips and taking photos, and I must say I feel super honored to be able to be featured in this year’s photoshoot for the first time with her. For this special occasion Kim is wearing a beautiful combination of striped crop top with striped skirt from Forever 21. I love how Kim mixed the patterns between vertical and horizontal lines because it gives it a very nice contrast and the shape is very flattering. On top of this she wore a trench coat (which I believe should become a thing because it looks so good on a dress/skirt!) As for the shoes she went for rain boots, since the fields can be a little muddy sometimes. I love the vintage vibe of this look and how all the different lengths between crop top, skirt, and trench come together really well. Kim looks dreamy and she really blossomed in the tulip fields.

As for myself I decided to go for a festive, spring look comprised of a floral short-sleeve shirt with a pair of polka-dotted bow tie and suspenders. I wanted to give a fun, fresh vibe but with some sophistication which I also enhanced by wearing a navy peacoat on top. For the pants I went for a light pink, broken chino which looks amazing in the pink and red tulips. There is no belt this time because the suspenders do the job that belts do regularly, which is keep your pants in place. Finally for the shoes I also opted for a pair of rain boots, since I didn’t want to ruin some nice shoes in the mud, but besides that I think that they went along really well with the whole look to make it a little less formal and more casual. What do you guys think? I believe this is the best work we’ve done so far for the His and Hers series and I’m super excited about turning up the notch for next posts given this point of comparison.

As you can see, we had lots of fun together and I can’t wait to share more photos of this series with you all. For now that’s going to be all, but there are a few cool things coming soon to the blog. I am currently working on two brand collaborations which will be making an appearance on the blog in a few weeks, along with of course, my Coachella pics, and one extra fashion event I will be covering next weekend. ¡Hola amigos! Me encuentro de regreso en Seattle y se siente muy bien estar de vuelta en casa después de un fin de semana increíble en Coachella. Este año el festival del sur de California fue un éxito rotundo y ya quiero compartirles mis fotos y videos del festival muy pronto. Para mi sorpresa, Seattle me recibió con mucho calor el lunes que llegué, de hecho no sólo es el día más cálido que hemos tenido este año, sino que fue el día más cálido en el mes de abril en la historia de Seattle. La temperatura fue 31 grados, lo cual igual y no parece tanto pero aún en verano muchas veces no alcanzamos a superar los 27 grados tan seguido, y menos tan pronto en el año como ahora. Lo más impresionante es que tan sólo hace apenas unos días estaba a 10 grados y con lluvia; es interestante ver lo drásticos que son los cambios de clima aquí en el Pacífico Noroeste en primavera.

Como les mencioné hace algunas semanas, mi mejor amiga blogger y compañera de aventuras Kim de HelloKimWin y yo les hemos venido preparando una sorpresa y me siento muy feliz en presentárselas hoy, nuestro photoshoot anual en el festival de tulipanes de Skagit Valley. Kim y yo realmente nos vimos con suerte esa mañana en que nos aventuramos a ir al festival ya que casi no había nadie ahí más que nosotros, así que tuvimos la oportunidad de tomar muchas fotos buenísimas con nuestro nuevo equipo de fotografía. Kim le compró una cámara nueva a Dara, y sí que rindió frutos esta inversión; las fotografías que salen de esa cámara ya están listas para subirse al blog sin ningún tipo de edición. Por mi parte, me compré un nuevo tripie que pudimos utilizar para tomar fotos de los dos juntos sin tener que pedirle a un extraño que lo haga por nosotros. ¡Yey por la tecnología! (Aunque debo admitir que me sentí chistoso al estar poniendo la cámara en modo timer para después correr rápidamente a donde estaba Kim para posar para la foto).

En esta edición de la serie Él y Ella, Kim y yo decidimos viajar al norte al Skagit Valley para visitar el ya conocido festival de los tulipanes. Este es el octavo año consecutivo que Kim va a este festival para tomar fotografías, y debo decir que me siento muy honrado en haber podido compartir esta experiencia con ella por vez primera. Para esta ocasión especial Kim está vistiendo una hermosa combinación de camiseta corta con falda de rayas de Forever 21. Me encanta como Kim mezcló los patrones entre las líneas verticales y horizontales en estas piezas porque le dan un contraste muy agradable y la forma que le da es muy favorable. Sobre éstas vistió una gabardina (lo cual creo que debe de convertirse en una moda porque se ve increíble sobre un vestido o falda) y para el calzado utilizó botas de lluvia, ya que puede haber un poco de lodo en los campos de tulipanes. Me encanta la onda tipo vintage que tiene este look y como las diferentes longitudes de la blusa, la falda y la gabardina se combinan de muy buena manera. Kim se ve de ensueño y realmente floreció en los campos de tulipanes.

En mi caso yo decidí irme por un look festivo y primaveral, conformado por supuesto por una camisa de botones de manga corta con estampado en flores y un par de tirantes y moños con estampado de puntitos. Quería darle un sentimiento un poco más fresco y divertido pero con algo de sofisticación, lo cual logré resaltar un poco más con un abrigo color azul marino. Para los pantalones, opté por estos chinos color rosa claro que se ven increíbles junto a los campos de flores rosas y rojas. No me puse cinto en esta ocasión porque los tirantes hacen el trabajo esta vez que suele hacer el cinto: poner a los pantalones en su lugar. Por último, me fui con botas de lluvia igualmente, ya que no quería arruinar un par de zapatos buenos en el lodo, además de que siento que ayudan a la cohesión con Kim y a darle ese toque menos formal y más casual al look completo. ¿Ustedes qué opinan? Creo que hasta ahora este es el mejor trabajo que Kim y yo hemos hecho juntos para la serie Él y Ella y ahora podemos tomar esto como referencia para colaboraciones futuras para hacer algo todavía mejor.

Como pueden ver, nos la pasamos muy bien esa mañana y ya quiero compartirles más fotos de esta serie pero primero las tenemos que tomar. Por ahora eso será todo, pero les tengo varias sorpresas preparadas para el blog en las próximas semanas. Actualmente estoy trabajando con dos marcas para hacer colaboraciones en el blog muy próximamente, además de por supuesto, mis fotos del festival de Coachella, y un evento de moda más que estaré cubriendo el fin de semana. Así que hay mucho contenido nuevo y fresco que está por llegar al blog, junto con más de la serie Él y Ella que no se pueden perder. Como siempre, les recuerdo vestirse con estilo y dejar que los demás escuchen su voz. Nos vemos la próxima semana con más estilo y con más fotografías. ¡Hasta el próximo miércoles!
