An Unusual Place to Shoot

Hello all! Hector here. First and foremost I want to thank all of you for your great response to the last post. I was so thrilled to see how many of you actually took the time to visit some of my other fellow Fashion Bloggers Who Tech blogs, and the overall reception the group had was really positive. I must say that I’m also super excited to see the amazing things that we’ll be able to create as a group, and I’ll make sure to let you know about our fancy gatherings and exchange of ideas here in the blog. That’s something that I have really liked about my blogging experience over this year, how it has brought me closer together to so many people both here and back in Mexico, and even friends from all over the world. It’s just a great platform where the world gets connected to share their thoughts, and I’m happy to be part of it.

For today’s post, I wanted to show you a very special, fun photoshoot I did with my blog BFF Kim right before she left for her recruiting trip. It comes with perfect timing because precisely Kim is coming back this week, and I can’t wait to meet her! It’s been almost 3 weeks since we last got together for our regular meet-ups over ice cream or bubble tea, and I’ve been missing that time a lot. So this time we decided to shoot at the Microsoft campus library, because why not right? I mean, we’ve shot in the trees, by the stairwells, in many Microsoft buildings, but never at our own company library. There’s something really cool about this place, it’s so quiet and peaceful, that it inspires so many thoughts and ideas from the greatest minds. And there’s so much knowledge hanging on the walls, just a grab away waiting for you to discover it. This brought me back lots of memories from when I was a student, when we would hang at the library to study for an exam or work on a team project. Those were some pretty awesome days, and given my extra curious nature I’ve always been drawn to spend some extra time among the universe of knowledge that a library is.

How I came to wear this outfit for this photoshoot is quite interesting, because it was totally not planned. I was already wearing this to meet with Kim, and the moment she saw me in this cardigan and khakis combination she said I looked like a hip librarian. That’s when she came up with the idea of shooting at the library, and I must say that I loved this idea! It was going to be challenging though, since libraries are pretty quiet and we usually are just a bunch of goofballs when we take photos (of course, you only get to see the nice, fashion-blogger-posed photos here haha). Still, we were able to take some really nice pics and we had a great time together. One piece that I want to highlight here is the orange and pink plaid shirt I’m wearing. I got this shirt as a late birthday gift from my friend Pablo, and I feel it blends really well with my sense of style. I love the colors, and it looks amazing with just a cardigan or sweater and my favorite Sperry shoes. What do you guys feel? Is there any place you feel that really inspires your creative thought? As I mentioned in my last entry, this weekend I’ll be flying to Monterrey for my friend Daniel’s wedding. I’m really looking forward to this because I’ll be able to see my friends and family once again before the holidays. I’m still undecided about my Halloween costume. I think I’ve narrowed it to two ideas I have, but I still have to figure out some of the details to see which one would be the best. Nevertheless, I’ll let you know first before I actually wear the costume on Halloween night. Like always, remember to dress up to the occasion and to let your voice be heard. Hello all! ¡Hola a todos! Héctor reportando. Primeramente quisiera agradecerle a todos ustedes su increíble respuesta al último post. Me emocioné mucho al ver como muchos de ustedes se tomaron el tiempo para visitar algunos de los blogs de mis demás compañeros de Fashion Bloggers Who Tech, y que la recepción en general acerca del grupo fue muy positiva. También debo confesar que estoy muy emocionado de ver qué cosas creamos como grupo, y me encargaré de reportar con ustedes acerca de nuestros encuentros glamurosos e intercambio de ideas aquí en el blog. Eso es algo que me ha encantado sobre mi experiencia como blogger durante este poco más de un año, como me ha acercado tanto a personas aquí en Seattle y en México, e inclusive en todo el mundo. Es una excelente plataforma donde el mundo entero se conecta para compartir sus pensamientos, y me encanta ser parte de ella.

El día de hoy quiero enseñarles un photoshoot muy especial y divertido que realicé con mi mejor amiga blogger Kim justo antes de que se fuera de viaje de reclutamiento. Tiene un timing perfecto ya que precisamente Kim volverá de su viaje esta semana, y ¡no puedo esperar por reunirme con ella! Van ya casi 3 semanas desde la última vez que nos vimos en una de nuestras juntas regulares con helado o té para platicar, y he extrañado mucho ese tiempo. Pues esta vez decidimos tomar fotos en la biblioteca del campus de Microsoft, ¿por qué no verdad? Digo ya hemos tomado fotos en los árboles, cerca de las escaleras, en muchos edificios de Microsoft, pero nunca en nuestra propia biblioteca. Hay algo muy padre acerca de ese lugar, es tan calmado y pacífico que ha inspirado muchas ideas y pensamientos de las más grandes mentes aquí. Y hay tanto conocimiento en esas paredes que meramente está al alcance de la mano para ser descubierto. Esto me trajo muchos recuerdos de cuando era estudiante, esa época en que me juntaba en la biblioteca con mis amigos para estudiar para un examen o hacer un proyecto en equipo. Esos fueron días increíbles, y dada mi naturaleza extra curiosa siempre me he sentido atraído a pasar tiempo extra dentro del universo de conocimiento que es una biblioteca.

Cómo terminé con este outfit en esta sesión de fotos es bastante interesante, ya que fue totalmente no planeado. Ya estaba vistiendo de hecho este atuendo para reunirme con Kim, y fue en el momento en que me vio en este conjunto de cardigan con pantalones khakis que me dijo que parecía un bibliotecario hip. Fue ahí cuando se le ocurrió la idea de tomar fotos en la biblioteca y debo decir que me encantó la idea. Iba a ser difícil hacerlo, ya que las bibliotecas por lo general son muy calladas y nosotros hacemos bastante escándalo cuando tomamos fotos (obviamente aquí sólo les muestro aquellas fotos donde me veo bien y aparezco en pose de fashion blogger). No obstante, pudimos tomar fotos muy buenas y nos la pasamos muy bien juntos. Una pieza que quiero recalcar de este atuendo es la camisa de cuadros rosa con naranja que estoy vistiendo. Esta camisa me la regaló mi amigo Pablo como obsequio de cumpleaños tardío y como pueden ver, va muy bien con mi estilo. Me encantan los colores, y se ve bastante bien con tan sólo un cardigan o suéter y con mis zapatos Sperry favoritos. ¿Qué opinan? ¿Cuál es ese lugar que realmente les inspira a pensar de manera creativa? Bueno pues eso es todo por hoy. Espero que les haya gustado este post y que tengan un excelente fin de semana. Como les mencioné anteriormente, este fin estaré viajando a Monterrey para la boda de mi amigo Daniel. Estoy muy feliz ya que podré ver a mis amigos y familia una vez más antes de las vacaciones de invierno. Todavía no decido de qué me voy a vestir para Halloween. Creo que ya reduje las opciones a dos ideas que tengo, pero aún tengo que tomar en cuenta algunos detalles para ver cuál es el que se verá mejor. Aún así, ustedes serán los primeros en saber cuando me decida y se los diré por aquí antes de la noche de Halloween. Como siempre, recuerden vestirse bien ante la ocasión y dejar que los demás escuchen su voz. Nos vemos el miércoles con unas fotos de boda mexicana. ¡Hasta la próxima vez!
