Recharging for Fall

Hello everyone! Did you miss me? After a small break from blogging, which was triggered by a way busier-than-normal schedule during my trip to Mexico, I’m glad to say that I’m back in the PNW and I’m back with my regular blog posts. I must first let you know that I had a wonderful time in Monterrey and I’m so happy that I was able to see my family and friends for the second time this year. It was also a great trip to reconnect with many people in my life, and that’s why instead of blogging last week I invested my time in seeing as many people as possible. Sometimes it just feels good to take a small period of time from your daily routine to recharge and then come back with more energy, which is exactly what I did. I must mention that it wasn’t only me who changed during this period of time; even the weather is different and the seasons are turning once more. I’m super excited about this, since after a very long summer here in Seattle, I was longing for fall and it seems to have arrived a bit earlier this year.

Fall is my favorite season of the whole year, especially here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s that time of the year when you start to see the leaves changing color, mornings and nights getting cooler, and of course, the time when you can mix and match the most varied, versatile outfits of the whole year. One of the things that you must keep in mind for the upcoming season is dressing in layers. If you add a few layers to your outfit, you’ll add more dimension to it, and you’ll be prepared to be inside or outside without having any trouble with the weather. It will also help you be a bit more creative with the way you style your look, since you’ll have more options as to what to wear with what (with or without a jacket, sweaters, raincoat, different types of shoes, fall accessories, etc.)

Today I want to talk about a very special fall garment: the sportcoat or blazer. Here you can see me rocking a blue cotton sportcoat with a regular pair of skinny jeans. Look how it raises the whole look, which could have been pretty casual, to a whole different level. This one I found in J Crew on sale a few months ago. I was saving it for the fall season to start, and I must say it didn’t disappoint me at all. You can mix this with any type of button-down, in this case a plaid purple shirt, and your favorite pair of colorful socks and shoes to finish the look. Even the sunnies with the skyline of Seattle look amazing with this coat. What do you think? Are you excited about the upcoming fall season? This week is the first anniversary of when I started my previous blog (which eventually evolved into this one) and I must say that during my whole life I have never felt as close to the people around me and as satisfied about a personal project as when I started my blog. It’s incredible how blogging provides a platform to express yourself in the most creative ways, and to share with the rest of the world a tiny piece of you. It has also helped me foster new friendships from the large number of bloggers I’ve met over the past year, and it has brought very interesting conversations and connections with the people I already knew. For that I will always be grateful and none would be possible if it weren’t for you. Remember to be stylish all the time and to let your voice be heard. ¡Hola a todos! ¿Me extrañaron? Después de tomarme un pequeño break del blogging, el cual fue causado por un itinerario un poco más atareado de lo normal durante mi viaje a México, estoy muy contento de contarles que estoy de regreso en el PNW y que estoy de vuelta con mis posts en el blog de cada miércoles. Debo primero hacer hincapié en que me la pasé increíblemente bien en Monterrey y que estoy muy feliz de haber visto a mi familia y a mis amigos por segunda ocasión en este año. También fue una excelente oportunidad para reconectarme con muchas personas en mi vida, y es por eso que en vez de estar bloggeando, la semana pasada la invertí en ver tanta gente como me fuera posible. A veces se siente bien tomar un período corto de descanso en nuestra rutina cotidiana para recargar las baterías y regresar con mucha más energía, lo cual es justamente lo que hice. Cabe mencionar que yo no fui el único que cambió durante este transcurso; hasta el clima está diferente y la transición de estaciones comienza una vez más. Esto me tiene muy emocionado, ya que tras un verano largo aquí en Seattle, estaba esperando a que llegara el otoño y parece que este año llegó con un poco de anticipación.

El otoño es mi temporada favorita de todo el año, especialmente aquí en el Pacífico Noroeste. Es esa época del año en que empiezas a notar cómo las hojas de los árboles cambian de color, las mañanas y las noches se vuelven más frescas y por supuesto, es la época en que puedes mezclar los outfits más variados y versátiles del año entero. Una de las cosas que tienes que mantener en mente durante la próxima temporada es el vestir en capas. Si agregas un par de capas a tu outfit, estarás agregando más dimensiones a este, y así estarás preparado para cualquier situación interior o exterior sin preocuparte por el clima. También te ayudará a ser más creativo en la forma en que arreglas tu look, ya que tendrás más opciones de qué vestir con qué (utilizar o no una chamarra, suéteres, rompevientos, diferentes tipos de calzado, accesorios de otoño, etc.)

El día de hoy les quiero platicar acerca de una prenda elemental en el clóset de otoño: el saco sport o blazer. Aquí pueden verme vistiendo un blazer azul con un par de pantalones de mezclilla entubados. Vean como levanta a todo el look, el cual pasó de ser algo meramente casual a algo de otro nivel. Este saco lo encontré en J Crew en rebaja hace algunos meses. Estaba guardándolo para la temporada otoñal, y debo decirles que no me decepcionó en lo absoluto. Puedes ponerte este saco con cualquier tipo de camisa de botones, en este caso una camisa de cuadritos morada, y con tu par favorito de calcetines de colores y zapatos sport para completar el look. Hasta los lentes de sol con el skyline de la ciudad de Seattle se ven increíbles junto con este blazer. ¿Qué opinan? ¿Están emocionados porque empiece la temporada de otoño? Esta semana es el primer aniversario de cuando comencé mi blog anterior (el cual eventualmente evolucionó para convertirse en este) y debo decirles que en toda mi vida jamás me había sentido tan cercano a la gente alrededor mío ni tan satisfecho con un proyecto personal como cuando empecé con mi blog. Es increíble como el blogging provee una plataforma para expresarte de la manera más creativa posible, y como te permite compartir con el resto del mundo una pequeña parte de ti. También me ha ayudado a formar nuevas amistades entre la gran cantidad de bloggers que he conocido en el pasado año, y me ha traído muy interesantes conversaciones y conexiones con las personas que ya conocía. Por esto y más les estaré eternamente agradecido ya que nada de esto sería posible de no ser por ustedes. Recuerden vestirse siempre a la moda y dejar que los demás escuchen su voz por la forma en la que visten. Nos vemos muy pronto con un nuevo post y con muchas más sorpresas. ¡Hasta la próxima!
