Hey friends! Happy Wednesday! We’re a little over two weeks into June already, and the temperatures here in Seattle have gotten HOT. Just past week we hit 90F degrees for the first time this year (94F actually) and with all this sunshine and heat, I’m going to have to say that I’m ready for summer. It’s still a couple days away from officially starting, but the wait has been too long and the hype has been real. It’s time to put all those jackets and raincoats back in the trunks and give space to t-shirts, shorts, tank tops, and flip flops, because summer is here and hopefully it’s here to stay.
Today’s post is about a new brand that just opened their store in Bellevue Square a couple weeks ago. Rodd and Gunn is a brand from New Zealand, and as you might have expected, the Seattle Gents and I were invited to their grand opening. The space where this store is located is quite large and beautifully decorated. They brought some nice wood panels and tables straight from the island, as well as some artwork and crafts from the Maori tribes. The best part about this installation was, in my opinion, the giant flatscreen showing a realtime video outside the flagship store in Auckland. It’s super cool to be able to see such a distant part of the world and it creates the feeling of being right there.
We had some drinks and appetizers during this experience offered by our hosts, and we were able to check out the product line. I must say that I was quite impressed with how much I liked this brand. I liked it so much that I ended up buying a pair of swim trunks and a short-sleeve button-down. Finally, to close the evening we had a little chat with the store manager and shopping assistants, and we styled two people from the audience in Rodd and Gunn clothing. It was my turn to translate some of the knowledge I’ve acquired over years of blogging into actually styling someone rather than myself, so I must say that it was a daring but really satisfying experience. I was super happy to see that the guy both Rashad and I styled was quite pleased with the clothes we chose for him.
Well my friends, that’s it for now. I would recommend that if you leave in the Greater Seattle Area, or if there is a Rodd and Gunn store in your city, you pay them a visit and check out their unique style. It is a style that will definitely fit in really well with the summer season, so I’m sure you can find something cool you can wear in the upcoming months. I’m currently excited because I have an amazing collaboration coming up in the next post, and then I’ll be off to a two-week vacation in the Mediterranean. Not before attending all the Pride celebrations next weekend and also pre-celebrating the 4th of July since I’m going to be gone that day. ¡Hola amigos! ¡Feliz miércoles! Nos encontramos ya poco más de dos semanas en el mes de junio y, con ello, las temperaturas en Seattle se han puesto bastante CÁLIDAS. Tan sólo la semana pasada sobrepasamos los 33C por primera vez este año (35C de hecho) y con todo este sol y calor, debo de admitir que estoy listo para que llegue el verano. Aún nos faltan algunos días para que este comience oficialmente, pero la espera ha sido muy larga y nuestros ánimos están por los cielos. Es hora ya de poner esas chamarras y abrigos de vuelta en el baúl y dar lugar a que las camisetas sin manga, shorts y sandalias llenen nuestro clóset, porque el verano ya esta aquí y esperemos que esté aquí para quedarse.
Nuestro post del día de hoy es sobre una marca nueva que acaba de abrir su tienda en Bellevue Square tan sólo hace un par de semanas. Rodd and Gunn es una marca de Nueva Zelanda y, como era de esperarse, los Seattle Gents y yo fuimos invitados a su gran inauguración. El lugar en donde se ubica esta tienda es inmenso y está bastante bien decorado. Trajeron unos paneles de madera y mesas directamente desde la isla, así como algo de pintura y artesanías de las tribus Maori. Lo mejor de esta instalación es, en mi opinión, la pantalla gigante que muestra en tiempo real video de las afueras de la matriz en la ciudad de Auckland. Se siente increíble ver un lugar tan distance del mundo en tiempo real y te da la sensación de que estuvieras ahí mismo.
Nuestros anfitriones de la noche nos ofrecieron unas bebidas y aperitivos durante este evento, mientras que disfrutábamos al observar la línea de productos que ofrecen. Debo admitir que quedé bastante impresionado con lo mucho que me gustó esta marca. Me gustó tanto que terminé comprando un traje de baño y una camisa de botones de manga corta en el evento. Finalmente, para cerrar la noche tuvimos unas breves palabras de parte del gerente de la tienda y pudimos platicar con los asistentes, y además escogimos un nuevo atuendo para dos integrantes del público con ropa de Rodd and Gunn. Fue mi oportunidad de transmitir algunos de los conocimientos que he adquirido estos últimos años de blogging para vestir a alguien más, así que les comento que es una experiencia muy satisfactoria. Me alegró mucho el ver como a la persona que Rashad y yo vestimos realmente le gustaron las prendas que elegimos para él.
Bueno amigos, eso es todo por hoy. Les recomiendo ampliamente que si se encuentran en el área metropolitana de Seattle, o si llegan a vivir cerca de una tienda Rodd and Gunn, les ofrezcan una visita y vean su estilo único. Es un estilo que realmente va bien con esta temporada veraniega, así que estoy seguro de que encontrarán algo que les encantará para poder vestir en los próximos meses. Estoy muy emocionado además porque tengo una increíble colaboración con una marca preparándose para el siguiente post, y después me estaré subiendo a un avión para viajar por el Mediterráneo por dos semanas. No sin antes asistir a las festividades del Pride en Seattle la próxima semana y también pre-celebrar el 4 de julio, ya que no voy a estar aquí ese día. Los dejo por ahora, no sin antes recordarles que se vistan con estilo y que dejen que los demás escuchen su voz.
