Pink Flamingos and Tulip Fields

Hi there my friends! Another month has gone by, and without really noticing the time passing, we’re already in May. May is the month when spring usually starts to kick in here in the PNW. Nothing really says Western Washington in the spring like a field full of tulips. It had been a while since the last time that I went to the Tulip Festival (two years actually). And even though I have been there before, there’s always a good feeling that you get from the never-ending sights of tulips at the Skagit Tulip Festival. That’s why when my friends decided that it would be a good idea to go this year, I didn’t hesitate to join the adventure and boy, where we in for a treat for ourselves, even though the weather was trying not to cooperate with our plans.

The Skagit Tulip Festival is a tradition that the city of Mount Vernon holds every year. Thousands of visitors and locals alike come to this beautiful spectacle of color and nature every year during the month of April, ready to walk among the tulip fields before they get cut and shipped all across the United States. Since Mother’s Day is just a few days away, this past weekend was the last one where the tulips are still in for display, so I was really happy that we decided to make the trip up north. We visited two different sites: Roozengaarde and Tulip Town. The first one features the big, one-color patches of the same type of tulip, and it’s one of my favorite sights in the state. The second one is characterized by mixed fields of different colors and types of flowers, which creates that rainbow effect that looks really good on camera. Both sites are really fun to visit and they have a cute little gift shop where you can get your own tulip souvenir, so if you have the time next year I would definitely recommend you to go.

For my fourth time at the Tulip Festival, I decided that I wanted to wear a fun, colorful shirt, so I chose this pink flamingos button-down from Sharply. Guys, if you haven’t shopped at Sharply yet you need to try it out. Their delivery service is super fast and efficient, and they serve a lot of styles and sizes online. Along with this Sharply shirt I decided to wear my olive green joggers from J. Crew and a blue raincoat from Penfield since it was raining really hard that day. That also led me to bring my Hunter rainboots, which were really helpful to walk among the fields and keep my feet dry, and since after the visit they were all dirty with mud it was also very easy to clean them. ¡Hola a todos! Un mes más ha concluido, y sin darnos cuenta nos encontramos ya en el mes de mayo. Mayo es el mes en que la primavera suele hacerse más presente aquí en el Pacífico Noroeste. Nada dice más oeste de Washington como lo es un campo lleno de tulipanes. Había transcurrido ya un buen rato desde la última vez que fui al Tulip Festival (dos años de hecho). Y aunque ya había ido un par de veces a ese lugar, siempre se siente una gran emoción al ver las interminables vistas de los tulipanes en el Skagit Tulip Festival. Es por eso que cuando mis amigos decidieron que sería una buena idea visitar esta atracción este año, no dudé ni un segundo en unirme a la experiencia, y sí que nos llevamos una muy grata sorpresa aún y con el clima tratando de no cooperar con nuestros planes.

El Skagit Tulip Festival es una tradición que la ciudad de Mount Vernon sostiene año con año. Miles de visitantes y residentes locales vienen a este hermoso espectáculo de color y naturaleza cada año durante el mes de abril, con el fin de caminar entre los campos de tulipanes antes de que estos sean cortados y distribuidos a lo largo de los Estados Unidos. Dado que el día de las madres está ya a tan sólo unos cuantos días, este último fin de semana fue el último en que los tulipanes se encontraban en exposición, así que me hizo muy feliz el haber decidido hacer el viaje hacia el norte. Visitamos dos diferentes locaciones: Roozengaarde y Tulip Town. El primero es el que tiene los campos enormes de un sólo color y un sólo tipo de tulipán, y es una de mis vistas predilectas en el estado. El segundo está caracterizado por mezclar en el mismo campo diferentes colores y tipos de flores, lo cual crea ese efecto de arco iris que se plasma tan bien en las fotografías. Ambos sitios son muy divertidos para visitar y tienen una pequeña y pintoresca tienda de regalos donde puedes adquirir tu propio souvenir de tulipanes, así que si tienen la oportunidad el año que entra les recomiendo ampliamente que vayan.

Para mi cuarta visita al Tulip Festival, decidí que quería ponerme una camisa que fuera divertida y colorida, así que escogí esta camisa de flamingos rosados de la marca Sharply. Eso también me orilló a traerme mis botas de lluvia Hunter, las cuales fueron extremadamente útiles para caminar en el campo y mantener mis pies secos, además de que al final del día terminaron llenas de lodo y fue muy fácil limpiarlas. ¿Cuál es su outfit favorito para esos días lluviosos y frescos en primavera?
