Ire + Ice (Land)

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! Sorry for the long wait, as you may know from my social media I was away in Europe and Mexico these past 3 weeks, and I wasn’t able to create new content for the blog while away. However I’m back in Seattle and I’m ready to start the New Year with a blast! This past year has been wonderful to me in terms of blogger growth: I increased my followership by almost 20% (mainly thanks to the new FB page), had the most collaborations of any year-to-date thanks to the Seattle Gents, and went to two fashion shows and talked for the first time in a panel. This year, my goals are to continue that trend of growth, collaborations, and influence, but with one thing in mind. I always define every new year with a word, and with the past year being “influencing”, 2018 is going to be about “sharing”. I still don’t have an exact plan on how to do that, but I want to share my blogging knowledge with other bloggers. It might start as just giving advice on social media and on my blog on how to do things bloggers need to do (for example, a post on how to increase your followers, or how to gain SEO) but in the end I want to transfer that knowledge that I have mostly learned through experience to those who are just starting their journeys.

Today I want to share with you some of the pictures from my latest trip to Europe with my family. First of all, I have to say that I had an amazing time in the old continent with my parents and siblings and there couldn’t have been a more perfect way to spend both Christmas, which we celebrated in Paris, and New Year’s Eve, in the beautiful London. In total we went to 6 different countries: France, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, and Iceland. It was a pretty packed trip with lots of train rides, bus rides, tours, and even flights. However, if you want to experience the most things possible in a particular area you sometimes have to do it that way. This post in particular, is focused on two of the places that stuck with me the most: Ireland and Iceland. These two countries had been on my bucket list for years, and I finally had the change to visit both of them on the same trip. What they have in common is that they are both marvels of nature, and some of the views we had were truly breathtaking.

One of the things that really stood up to me about the land of the Irish is how much it reminded me of the Pacific Northwest. It was green everywhere, with lots of friendly people, and a beautiful mix of land and sea. One of my favorite spots in Ireland was the Cliffs of Moher, which is a chain of hills and cliffs just outside of the city of Galway in the western Ireland coast. This place was amazing guys! You can see how the landscape dramatically drops as it heads into the Atlantic Ocean, and you can feel the breeze of the ocean as the heavy winds lift the water that splashes from the strong waves down below. I managed to get a few shots from the main castle and the tallest cliff, but this is just a small portion from all there was to see. As for the beautiful and gorgeous Iceland, there’s nothing that can describe the awe I felt with all those natural landscapes. We took a tour around the Golden Circle, just east of Reykjavik, and found ourselves immersed in a national park that had frozen lakes and waterfalls, geysers, hot springs, and wildlife. The cherry on top of the cake was definitely being able to see the Northern Lights, which we were extremely lucky to see in a very cold winter night.

For my trip to Land’s End (another name for the Cliffs of Moher) I was wearing a layered look comprised of my new Superdry windstopper along with a puffy vest from J. Crew. The combination of these two is great because you can layer them up depending on how cold it is. Given that the Cliffs were so windy it was the perfect situation for wearing both, and they kept me warm the whole time. Underneath I was wearing my light pink hoodie from H&M and for the pants I went for these camo joggers also from H&M. Finally, for the shoe I opted for my Sperry Topsider cutwater chukkas, which are great for humid environments. As for the Iceland trip, here you can see me wearing the same Superdry windstopper but this time worn as an inner layer, and I wore my camel coat from Club Monaco on top; this was perfect for the below-freezing temperatures in the frozen tundra. For the pants I went for my corduroy black pants from Club Monaco, and I topped the look with my duck boots from J. Crew. What do you guys think of these two outfits? Well that’s it for me for now my friends. I’m glad to be back and I can assure you that this 2018 is going to be full of wonderful surprises. Some things I can tell you in advance are expect a lot of exclusive content and giveaways (I won’t reveal the details yet, so you have to keep posted). Another thing is that the Seattle Gents is going to keep growing, so watch out for more adventures with these fashionable folks. And in just a month from now I’m going to be in New York Fashion Week for the first time, so expect lots of photos and videos coming straight to you through my social media and the blog. I didn’t do a lot of new year resolutions this time, but I hope that the picture becomes clearer as the year progresses, because I’ve noticed that most of the really cool things just happen unexpectedly. So I’m ready to expect the unexpected this year. However, as always I want to remind you to be stylish, and to let your voice be heard. I’ll see you in a fortnight with more fashion posts and of course, more brand new content. Les pido una disculpa por la larga espera, ya que como sabrán por medio de mis redes sociales me encontraba en Europa y en México estas últimas 3 semanas y no había tenido el tiempo de generar nuevo contenido para el blog mientras estaba fuera. Sin embargo, me encuentro ya de regreso en Seattle, ¡y estoy listo para empezar el Año Nuevo de lleno! Este pasado año me fue muy bien en términos de crecimiento como blogger: aumenté mi cantidad de followers en casi un 20% (principalmente gracias a la nueva página de FB), tuve la mayor cantidad de colaboraciones que en cualquier otro año a la fecha gracias a los Seattle Gents y fui a dos shows de moda y hablé por primera vez en un panel. Este año, mis metas son continuar esa tendencia de crecimiento, colaboraciones e influencia, pero con una cosa en mente. Siempre defino cada año nuevo con una palabra, siendo la del año pasado “influenciar”, y el 2018 quiero definirlo con “compartir”. Todavía no tengo un plan exacto de cómo haré eso, pero quiero compartir mi conocimiento como blogger con otros bloggers. Puede empezar por simplemente dar consejos en mis redes sociales y en el blog de como hacer cosas que los bloggers tenemos que hacer (por ejemplo, un post sobre como incrementar tu cantidad de followers, o como obtener SEO) pero al final, quisiera transferir ese conocimiento que he adquirido principalmente por experiencia propia a aquellos que apenas empiezan su camino.

El día de hoy, me gustaría compartir con ustedes algunas de las fotografías de mi más reciente viaje a Europa con mi familia. Primero que nada, quisiera decir que me la pasé increíble en el viejo continente con mis papás y mis hermanos y que no hubiera podido pensar en una forma más perfecta de pasar tanto Navidad, la cual celebramos en París, como Año Nuevo, en la hermosa ciudad de Londres. En total fuimos a 6 países diferentes: Francia, Irlanda, Irlanda del Norte, Escocia, Inglaterra e Islandia. Fue un viaje bastante compacto lleno de viajes en tren, en autobús, tours guiados e inclusive algunos vuelos. No obstante, si en verdad quieres experimentar lo más que se pueda en un área en particular tienes que hacerlo de esa manera. Este post en específico se enfoca en dos de los lugares que se quedaron más grabados en mi memoria: Irlanda e Islandia. Estos dos países habían estado en mi lista por años y, finalmente tuve la oportunidad de visitar ambos en el mismo viaje. Lo que los dos tienen en común es que son unas maravillas naturales, y algunas de las vistas que tuvimos realmente te quitan el aliento.

Algo que resonó mucho conmigo sobre la tierra de los irlandeses es lo mucho que me recuerda al Pacífico Noroeste. Estaba lleno de verde por doquier, con muchas personas muy amigables y una bella combinación de paisajes de la tierra con el mar. Uno de mis lugares favoritos en Irlanda fueron los Acantilados de Moher, los cuales son una cadena de colinas y acantilados afuera de la ciudad de Galway en la costa oeste de Irlanda. ¡Este lugar está impresionante! Pueden ver como el panorama cambiaba dramáticamente al llegar la tierra al océano Atlántico y se podía sentir la brisa de este mismo cuando los fuertes vientos levantaban el agua que salpicaba de las bruscas olas debajo de nosotros. Logré tomar un par de fotos del castillo principal y del acantilado más alto, pero esto es sólo una pequeña porción de todo lo que abarcaba este lugar. En cuanto a la hermosa tierra de Islandia, no hay cómo describir lo maravillado que me sentí al ver esos paisajes naturales. Tomamos un tour alrededor del Círculo Dorado, al este de Reykjavik, y nos encontramos sumergidos en un parque nacional que tenía lagos y cascadas congeladas, geysers, aguas termales y mucha fauna silvestre. La cereza encima del pastel fue definitivamente lograr ver la aurora boreal, la cual fuimos extremadamente suertudos en poder ver en una oscura y fría noche de invierno.

Para mi viaje a la Finisterra (otro nombre para los Acantilados de Moher) me puse un look en capas que consistía en mi nueva chamarra Superdry con un chaleco afelpado de J. Crew. La combinación de estas dos piezas funcionó de maravilla ya que puedes ajustarlas de acuerdo a qué tanto frío hace. Ya que el viento soplaba con mucha fuerza en los Acantilados, estos fueron un lugar perfecto para vestir ambos, ya que me mantuve cálido todo el tiempo. Debajo me puse mi sudadera en color rosa claro de H&M y para los pantalones vestí mis joggers de camuflaje también de H&M. Finalmente para los zapatos opté por mis chukkas de agua de Sperry Topsider, las cuales son idóneas para climas húmedos. En cuanto al viaje a Islandia, aquí me pueden ver vistiendo la misma chamarra de Superdry pero esta vez como la capa interior, y me puse mi abrigo en color camello de Club Mónaco encima; esta combinación fue ideal para las temperaturas bajo cero que experimentamos en la tundra congelada. Para los pantalones, usé estos pantalones de pana en color negro de Club Mónaco y terminé el look con mis botas de pato de J. Crew. ¿Qué opinan de estos dos outfits? ¿Les dan ganas de visitar estos dos lugares? Quisiera agradecerle a mis hermanos por tomar estas fotografías, y a mi familia entera por hacer este viaje inolvidable conmigo.

Bueno esto va a ser todo por hoy amigos. Estoy muy feliz de estar ya de regreso y les puedo asegurar que este 2018 va a estar repleto de muchas sorpresas. Algunas de las cosas que les puedo ir adelantando es que va a haber mucho contenido exclusivo y regalos (aún no les voy a revelar los detales, van a tener que seguir el blog). Otra cosa es que los Seattle Gents seguirán creciendo, así que prepárense para más aventuras con estos fashionistas. Y en tan sólo un mes estaré visitando New York Fashion Week por primera vez, así que esperen muchas fotografías y videos directo para ustedes en mis redes sociales y aquí en el blog. Este año no hice muchos propósitos de año nuevo, pero espero que se aclaren un poco más las cosas conforme el año siga avanzando, ya que me he dado cuenta que las mejores cosas en la vida suceden sin que las esperes. Así que estoy listo para esperar lo inesperado este año. Sin embargo, quisiera recordarles que como siempre se vistan con estilo y que dejen que los demás escuchen su voz. Nos vemos en dos semanas con más posts de moda y por supuesto, nuevo contenido. ¡Empecemos este año a lo grande! ¡Nos vemos la próxima vez!
