Seattle Polo Party X Seattle Gents

Before starting out today’s very special fashion post, I just want to say one thing: happy birthday to me! I’m finally 30, and after being back in my hometown, the city of Monterrey, for that special day with my family and friends, I can only say that I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by so many people that love me. I have to be honest, turning 30 was something that had really scared me for a while without knowing why; I think that it was mostly based on the passing of time. Needless to say I feel no different today than I did a week ago. However becoming 30 years old just seemed like this huge milestone, in which yeah I have accomplished some of the goals I had set for myself in my 20s but there’s still so much more that I want to get done. I’ve come to realize though that there’s no rush, and there’s still plenty of time to accomplish these. I’m just going to enjoy every day to the maximum, keep in contact with the people that love me and tell them I love them back, and continue setting new goals and getting them done, of course having the most fun along the way.

Now moving on to today’s fashion post, I want to talk about a really cool event that my friends, the Seattle Gents and I, got invited to a couple of weeks ago, called the Seattle Polo Party. I have to say, before going to this event I didn’t know much about polo in general, even though I love sports and I love watching them on TV. This was the one that I had no experience with at all, and that every time I saw it on TV I would just change the channel. So I was really excited to go to my first polo match, and it was a great opportunity to hang out with my squad and meet some other bloggers. We drove to the Seattle Polo Club in Enumclaw, WA, where the beautiful Mount Rainier served as our backdrop and the sky was only partly cloudy, compared to the smoky, hazy Seattle. Overall we had an amazing time, we ate some fried chicken, had a few summer drinks, and enjoyed a complete polo tournament. Props to Seattle Polo Party for organizing such a fun event, and as always it’s so good to hang out with the guys in style. Look at how much fun we had!

For my field day out with the gents, I decided to go for a very classy, summer look. Since we were not going to be in the city, I had to go for a more outdoorsy vibe that would still look good but also suit the location and event. I didn’t know what people would wear, but I was inspired by other classic outdoor events such as the Kentucky Derby to find the right outfit, which consisted of a combination of a navy blue stretch cotton blazer with harbor pink chinos from J. Crew (of course, J. Crew was the best option to dress for a polo event). One thing that really had to be on point were the accessories, so I went for a straw hat also from J. Crew, a purple pocket square from Club Monaco, and a red bow tie from H&M. For the shoes, I wore my 1601 loafers from Nordstrom and I topped the look with my Burberry sunglasses. What do you guys think? Isn’t it nice to go to summer events outside of the city where people are dressed so nicely from time to time? I want to thank both Antonio Smith and Ben Murphy for taking the photos at this event. They turned out great!

I hope you liked this post, and going back to turning 30, I can only say that I’m extremely pleased with how my 20s turned out so I’m really looking forward to what the next decade has in store for me. Upcoming is Labor Day weekend, and since I just got back from Monterrey (my flight back was canceled twice because of the hurricane and I couldn’t leave till yesterday) I think I’m just going to spend it at home, doing some house chores and resting a lot. My trip to Mexico was amazing, but it was also very busy and I was flying everywhere, so I need that rest to be able to keep going with my September activities. There’s many cool things happening next month, from Bellevue Fashion Week, which I’ll be attending for the first time, to multiple fashion events at the brand new W Hotel in Bellevue, to more collaborations, and of course more fashion posts, so just keep in touch and you’ll find everything here on the blog. As always, I remind you to be stylish and to let your voice be heard. Antes de empezar el post de moda del día de hoy, quisiera decir una cosa nada más: ¡feliz cumpleaños a mí! Finalmente cumplí los 30 y, después de haber regresado de mi viaje a mi ciudad natal, la ciudad de Monterrey, para pasar ese día tan especial con mi familia y amigos, sólo puedo decir que me siento enormemente bendecido de estar rodeado de tanta gente que me quiere. Tengo que ser honesto, cumplir 30 años fue algo que me tenía algo nervioso por un rato sin saber el por qué. Creo que mi miedo se basaba más que nada en el paso del tiempo; no tengo que decir que me siento exactamente igual hoy que como me sentía hace una semana. Siempre parecía que era una marca más en el camino en el que sí, he cumplido bastantes de mis metas que tenía para mis años 20s, pero aún hay tanto que quiero hacer. Ahora entiendo que no hay tanta prisa, y que tengo muchísimo tiempo para cumplir esas metas. Sólo voy a disfrutar cada día al máximo, mantenerme en contacto con la gente que me quiere y decirles que los quiero y continuar poniéndome nuevas metas y cumplirlas; siempre divirtiéndome lo más que pueda en el trayecto.

Continuando con el post del día, quisiera platicarles acerca de un evento al que mis amigos los Seattle Gents y yo fuimos invitados hace un par de semanas, la Seattle Polo Party. Tengo que admitir, antes de ir a este evento no sabía mucho acerca del polo en general, aún y siendo un amante de los deportes y de verlos en la televisión. Este era el deporte en el que no tenía experiencia alguna, y que cada vez que lo veía en la tele le cambiaba de canal. Así que estaba muy emocionado para ir a mi primer partido de polo y fue una excelente oportunidad para pasar un buen rato con mi squad y conocer a otros bloggers. Manejamos al Seattle Polo Club en Enumclaw, WA, donde el majestuoso Mount Rainier nos servía como escenario y el cielo estaba parcialmente despejado, comparado con lo nublado y neblinoso que estaba Seattle. En general nos la pasamos muy bien, comimos un poco de pollo frito, tomamos bebidas veraniegas y disfrutamos de un torneo de polo completo. ¡Mis felicitaciones a Seattle Polo Party por organizar un evento tan divertido!

Para mi día en el campo con los gents, decidí vestir un look muy clásico de verano. Dado que no íbamos a estar en la ciudad, tuve que experimentar con una vibra un poco más campirana pero que también se viera bien. No sabía exactamente qué iba a vestir la gente, pero me inspiré en otros eventos clásicos al aire libre como el Kentucky Derby para encontrar el outfit adecuado, que consistió en una combinación de saco azul marino con un par de chinos color rosa de J. Crew (por supuesto J. Crew fue la mejor opción para vestirme para un juego de polo). Una cosa que realmente tenía que destacar eran los accesorios, así que me fui por un sombrero de paja también de J. Crew, un pañuelo color morado de Club Monaco y un moño en color rojo de H&M. Para los zapatos, opté por usar mis mocasines 1601 de Nordstrom y completé el atuendo con mis lentes de sol Burberry. ¿Qué opinan amigos? ¿A poco no se siente increíble cuando puedes ir a eventos veraniegos al exterior fuera de la ciudad en donde la gente se viste tan bien? Quisiera agradecer tanto a Antonio Smith como a Ben Murphy por tomar las fotografías en este evento. ¡Se ven impresionantes!

¡Eso va a ser todo por hoy, mis amigos! Espero que les haya agradado este post, y volviendo al punto de haber cumplido 30, sólo puedo decir que estoy extremadamente complacido de cómo viví mis 20s y estoy muy emocionado por ver lo que la siguiente década tiene en puerta para mí. Este fin de semana es Labor Day weekend, y dado que voy regresando de mi viaje a Monterrey (mi viaje de regreso se canceló dos veces por el huracán y no pude volver hasta el día de ayer) creo que lo voy a pasar en casa, haciendo algunas labores del hogar y descansando mucho. Mi viaje a México estuvo increíble, pero también estuvo muy ajetreado y estaba volando por todos lados, así que necesito descansar para continuar con mis actividades del mes de septiembre. Se vienen cosas muy buenas para el siguiente mes, desde Bellevue Fashion Week, al cual asistiré por vez primera, a múltiples eventos de moda en el nuevo hotel W en Bellevue, más colaboraciones y por supuesto más posts de moda y estilo, así que manténganse al pendiente ya que encontrarán todo eso y más en el blog.
