Hello er’body! This is the first post of 2016 and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I’m back in the Pacific Northwest, and I have to say, even though I loved the sun and warmth I was able to experience in Mexico, I missed Seattle so much. I missed the rain, the cooler weather (don’t get me wrong, I love warm weather but 95F on Christmas Eve in Monterrey was too much to handle even for me), and I missed the snowy mountains and green landscapes of Upper Left USA which have no comparison in my opinion. It was really good though that I was able to have so much quality time with my family and friends these past few weeks. I loved spending very important dates and traditions with them, and I always feel welcome when I get to go back home. However, it was time for me to come back to my everyday life and after a most-deserved break I feel ready to take on the new challenges that come with a new year.
Previously, I mentioned one of my new year resolutions was to increase my influence in the fashion industry through my blog. Today I want to share some of my other personal goals this year. One of these is getting back to reading by joining an online book club, since sometimes just reading technical stuff at work isn’t the best for my creativity and it would be good to share my thoughts with people that have the same passion. I also want to change the way I keep myself in shape by joining a team or entering a sports class, which will make me feel more motivated so I don’t eventually stop going, and will help me meet more people outside my regular group of friends and coworkers. Another one of my goals is to use my car less this year, both by walking more and using public transportation whenever possible, since we all drive a lot (especially to get to work and our environment is suffering the consequences). And finally, I want to focus my style a bit more, because 2015 was a great year to explore different trends but my closet is starting to get too big, and I need to get better at mixing and matching to be able to keep a leaner, more optimized wardrobe. Moving on to today’s outfit, I want to briefly talk about the clothes I’m wearing here. These are some of my Black Friday finds (yes, I know I’ve been talking about these for a while and they still hadn’t made an appearance on the blog yet). What I really like about this look is how representative it is of the Pacific Northwest style, which is something I’ve learned to appreciate and love over my years living here. You got your iconic plaid shirt paired with a cardigan, along with some olive green chinos which have become my favorite pants to wear after I got them at J. Crew with a 40% discount. Something that couldn’t be omitted were the all-weather boots, or duck boots because of their shape, that I also bought at J. Crew and finally the gloves without fingers for the PNW cold. As you can see, my resolutions are a bit ambitious for 2016 but I think that they will have a very positive impact in my life, since it’s always good to set challenges for us to become a better version of ourselves. As I said, I’m really happy to be back home and I’m ready to start the new year with the best mentality. ¡Hola a todos! Este es oficialmente el primer post del 2016 y les puedo decir que no podría estar más emocionado por esto. Me encuentro ya de regreso en el Pacífico Noroeste, y debo admitir que aunque me encantó disfrutar del sol y el calor que me tocó experimentar en México, extrañé mucho a Seattle. Extrañé la lluvia, el clima fresco (no me malinterpreten, me encanta el clima cálido pero estar a 35C en Noche Buena en Monterrey fue demasiado incluso para mí) y extrañé las montañas nevadas y los paisajes verdes de la parte superior izquierda de Estados Unidos, que en mi opinión, no tienen comparación. Fue muy bueno, sin embargo, el poder pasar tanto tiempo de calidad con mi familia y amigos estas pasadas semanas. Me encantó estar con ellos en estas fechas y vivir nuestras tradiciones más importantes juntos, ya que siempre me siento muy bien recibido cuando vuelvo a casa. No obstante, ya me tocaba volver a mi vida cotidiana y después de un muy merecido descanso estoy listo para enfrentar los nuevos retos que vienen en este año que comienza.
Previamente, mencioné que uno de mis própositos para este nuevo año sería incrementar mi influencia en la industria de la moda a través de mi blog. El día de hoy les quiero compartir otros de mis retos personales para el año. Uno de estos es volver a hacer de un hábito la lectura por medio de un club de lectores en línea, ya que muchas veces leer cosas técnicas en el trabajo no es lo mejor para mi creatividad y me gustaría poder compartir mis pensamientos con personas que tengan la misma pasión que yo. También me gustaría cambiar la manera de mantenerme en forma inscribiéndome a un equipo o una clase deportiva, pues creo que me hará sentir más motivado para que no lo deje de hacer eventualmente, y me ayudará a conocer más personas fuera de mi grupo social o de trabajo. Otra de mis metas es utilizar menos el carro, tanto caminando más y utilizando el transporte público, ya que manejamos mucho (especialmente al trabajo y nuestro ambiente está sufriendo las consecuencias). Y por último, quisiera enfocar mi estilo un poco más, pues el 2015 fue un gran año para explorar muchas tendencias pero mi clóset empezó a salirse de control, y necesito mejorar mis habilidades de combinar ropa para mantener un guardarropa más reducido y óptimo. ¿Qué me dicen ustedes? ¿Cuáles son algunos de sus propósitos de año nuevo?
Volviendo al outfit del día de hoy, quisiera hablar un poco acerca de la ropa que me encuentro vistiendo aquí. Estas son algunas de mis compras de Black Friday (lo sé, vengo hablando por un tiempo de estas y aún no aparecían en el blog). Lo que realmente me gusta de este atuendo es lo representativo que es del estilo que caracteriza al Pacifíco Noroeste, uno que con el tiempo viviendo aquí he aprendido a apreciar y a querer mucho. Tienen su camisa icónica de cuadritos junto con un cárdigan, además de unos pantalones chinos color verde olivo que se han vuelto mis predilectos después de encontrarlos en J. Crew con un 40% de descuento. Algo que no puede faltar son las botas de lluvia, o de pato por su forma, que también conseguí en J. Crew y por último los guantes sin dedos para cubrirme del frío del Noroeste. ¿Qué opinan acerca del estilo Pacífico Noroeste? ¿Les gusta? Como pueden observar, mis propósitos son un poco ambiciosos para el 2016 pero siento que tendrán un impacto muy positivo en mi vida, ya que siempre es bueno ponernos retos que nos ayudarán a convertirnos en una mejor versión de nosotros mismos. Como les platiqué, estoy muy contento de haber vuelto a casa y ya estoy listo para empezar el año con la mejor mentalidad posible. Espero que me traiga muchos momentos dignos de recordar y que ojalá pueda seguir compartiendo muchos de estos con ustedes mis lectores, pues aprecio su apoyo infinito como no tienen idea.
