Holiday Gifts for Him

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! A few days ago I got the suggestion from my friend Melinda to do a holiday gift guide for men for this upcoming holiday season. I loved the idea and today I’m glad to present the first post (of many hopefully) on Geek Q where I show you a few things that I definitely want to buy and that would be a perfect gift for Christmas this year. I haven’t bought any of these items yet, so I’m not going to show them on myself like I usually do. However, I understand that it can sometimes be tough to figure out what to give as a gift, especially when talking about men’s gifts because we tend to gravitate towards the typical tie or hardware appliance that might actually never be used. This list is intended to help you find the perfect gift based on what I like, but feel free to navigate through the pages below and see if you can find something else you like. I’ve separated the list in 3 sections:

Accessories

There’s really no possibility of going the wrong way with an accessory as a gift. First of all, they are way easier to pick than regular clothes because you don’t have to choose a size or worry too much about the fit. Plus, they are usually less expensive, and there’s a whole variety to choose from. For instance, scarves, gloves, and hats make a really good holiday gift, and you can see down below that J. Crew has quite a nice array of them. Something that I think is better than giving a tie (again, too much thought has to go in to pick the right color and pattern the person might like) is a tie bar, which are more simple, discrete, and look great for any formal occasion. Tie lapels (a not very used accessory but that elevates any suit to the next level) are also great options for holiday gifts. Finally, Etsy has some really nice bow ties and pocket squares, which are a great combination for that winter coat or jacket.

Grooming/Skin Care

If there’s one thing every guy has to go through every now and then that’s grooming and shaving/trimming. It’s very important to have a nice shave cream and a great razor/trimmer to avoid having red skin or acne issues. The following are just a few, but there are many shaving lotions/razor packages that already come in a bundle, and any guy would be able to use without issue. Club Monaco has some really nice kits with soaps, lotions, and scrubs to make sure your skin is on point every day, and I’m sure anyone would appreciate a nice skin product.

Miscellaneous

Finally, we have the miscellaneous category, which is basically, anything that would be handy or come in helpful in the daily routine. Mugs are a great example of a nice gift because we all need them for our morning coffee or that sip of tea and they come in multiple shapes, colors, forms, so there’s a lot of space here for being creative. Traveling kits, keychains, and lanyards also fall in this category, and there’s really no way of getting it wrong as long as it’s something simple, with a nice design and of quality. Leather keychains and lanyards look great and last for a long time. Another thing we all need is a cellphone case, and they are usually not that expensive. Just try to give something very neutral (such as a leather case or a plain, one-color case) to avoid giving something too personalized that the other person might not like. Finally, wax candles make a great gift as well and there are some neutral-odor that just help light up the house or apartment without actually imposing an aroma, which again, can be a pitfall if you don’t nail the person’s taste.

Well that’s it for now guys! As you can see, there’s plenty of room to be creative here and to give the perfect gift. My recommendation is always think of the person you’re giving this to and try to see what would be more useful to their daily routines, rather than trying to go with something too flashy or too out there that might not suit their personal style. ¡Hola a todos! ¡Feliz miércoles! Hace algunos días, recibí la sugerencia de parte de mi amiga Melinda de hacer una lista de regalos para hombre para la próxima temporada navideña. Me gustó mucho la idea y el día de hoy, les presento la primera guía (y espero que no sea la última) para obsequiar regalos en Geek Q, donde les muestro algunas cosas que definitivamente quiero comprar y que siento serían el regalo perfecto para esta Navidad. Aún no he comprado ninguno de estos artículos, así que hoy no se los mostraré en mi vestimenta como suelo hacer. Sin embargo, entiendo que a veces es difícil encontrar qué regalar, especialmente cuando se trata de un regalo para hombre, porque solemos inclinarnos a los mismos regalos de siempre: una típica corbata o alguna herramienta que quizá nunca termine por ser usada. Esta lista está hecha con el fin de ayudarles a encontrar el regalo perfecto basado en mis gustos, pero siéntanse libres de navegar a través de las siguientes páginas para ver si encuentran algo que les llame la atención. Separé la lista en 3 secciones:

Accesorios

En verdad no hay forma de equivocarse con un accesorio como regalo. Primero que nada, son más fáciles de escoger que la ropa regular porque no tiene uno que preocuparse por la talla o que le vaya a quedar a la otra persona a la medida. Además, suelen ser menos caros, y hay muchísima variedad de dónde escoger. Por ejemplo, las bufandas, las gorras y los guantes hacen de un estupendo regalo para navidad, y como pueden ver, J. Crew tiene un conjunto muy bueno de artículos de invierno. Algo que creo que es mejor que regalar una corbata (de nuevo, la corbata requiere de mucho pensamiento para elegir el color y el patrón correcto que le pueda gustar a la otra persona) es un pisacorbatas, los cuales son más simples y discretos y se ven bien en cualquier ocasión formal. Las flores de solapa (un accesorio no tan usado pero que eleva cualquier traje al siguiente nivel) también son una muy buena alternativa como regalo de Navidad. Por último, Etsy tiene unas combinaciones increíbles de moños y pañuelos, las cuáles son una excelente opción para elevar ese saco o chamarra este invierno.

Kits de Afeitar/Cremas para la piel

Si hay algo por lo que todos los hombres tenemos que pasar de vez en cuando es el cuidado de la barba y el rasurado. Es muy importante tener una crema de afeitar de buena calidad y un buen rastrillo o rasuradora para evitar irritación en la piel o problemas de acné. Las siguientes son sólo algunas recomendaciones, pero existen muchos paquetes de lociones de afeitar y rastrillos que ya vienen en conjunto, y estoy seguro que cualquiera les puede dar un buen uso sin problema alguno. Club Mónaco tiene unos kits muy completos de jabones, lociones y esponjas para asegurarte de que tu piel esté reluciente todos los días, y estoy seguro que cualquiera apreciaría que le regales un buen producto para la cara. 

Misceláneos

Por último, tenemos la categoría de misceláneos, donde básicamente cualquier cosa que sería útil en el día a día entraría en esta categoría. Las tazas son un excelente ejemplo de un buen regalo porque todos las necesitamos para ese café de la mañana o el trago de té en la tarde y vienen en múltiples colores, formas y tamaños, así que hay mucho espacio aquí para ser un poco creativo. Los kits para viajar, llaveros y marbetes también entran en esta categoría y realmente no hay forma de equivocarse aquí mientras sea algo sencillo, de buen diseño y de buena calidad. Los llaveros de piel y marbetes de piel se ven muy bien y duran bastante tiempo. Otra cosa que todos necesitamos es una funda para celular, y normalmente no son tan caras. Trata de regalar algo muy neutral (como por ejemplo una funda de piel o de un color sólido) para evitar dar algo demasiado personalizado que igual y no le gusta a la otra persona. Finalmente, las velas hacen de un muy buen regalo también mientras sean de olor neutro y que sólo ayuden a mantener la luz en la casa o departamento sin imponer un aroma, que de nuevo, puede ser un problema si no le atinas al gusto de la otra persona.

¡Bueno mis lectores eso es todo por hoy! Como pueden ver, hay mucho espacio para ser creativo con sus regalos y dar el regalo perfecto. Mi recomendación siempre es pensar en la persona a la que le vas a entregar el obsequio y tratar de ver cuál es la forma de hacerle más fácil su rutina del día a día, en vez de irte por algo muy apantallante o que marque un estilo que igual y no es el de esa persona. De nuevo, estas son sólo sugerencias pero naveguen un poco por las páginas que les puse arriba (J. Crew, Club Monaco, Etsy) y estoy seguro que encontrarán el regalo perfecto para él.
