Return of the Topcoat

Hi guys! Before I dive into today’s post, I want to deeply acknowledge and thank you all for the many congratulation messages I received last week over the first anniversary of Geek Q. Yours truly, I promise that as long as I count with your support and you keep making this blog what it is today, I will continue striving to provide the best content and the best ideas just for you. There are many opportunities that I still have to grow and become a better writer and a better blogger, but with you by my side I will give it all to keep on the momentum and keep on learning. That’s one of the things I like the most about this project, there’s so much room for letting my creativity fly and delving into areas that I’m not really an expert, but I’m super passionate about and I know many of you also are. So thanks for growing with me and for being the best audience I could ask for.

Today, I bring you a set of pics I took a few weeks ago during one of my 1:1 time with BFFerboo Kim, who’s been in Hawaii for the past week but she’s already back and I can’t explain with words how happy and excited I am to reunite with her again for one of our aforementioned photoshoots. This particular day we decided to shoot in the streets of Redmond, which we have already seen it provides a pretty awesome view during the fall with the yellow leaves on trees and the ones that have already fallen. We started out near our workplace, but we got caught by the rain middle of the shoot and we had to suspend this for a few minutes. That’s when we decided to go out for lunch at an amazing Indian buffet here in Redmond called Kanishka. Finally, we were able to finish our photoshoot when the rain receded a bit, and we shot near Redmond Town Center. All and all this was a very happy afternoon and we had a blast eating Indian food and talking about life like we always do.

The element I want to highlight in this session is the return of the topcoat. Last year, I used this baby when traveling to Detroit and New York, because we had a pretty mild winter here in Seattle. This year, however, November came with a punch and we’ve already experienced more than 10 days at or below freezing, which is quite uncommon here in the city. This coat though has helped me keep warm under very cold temperatures, and I really like how stylish it looks. It goes well with almost anything. Here for instance, I decided to pair it with a sweater from J.Crew and an infinity scarf which I haven’t used as well since my trip to NYC. For the bottom part I went with my olive green joggers, and finally I completed the look with my weather boots, which survived last year’s winter and are still in shape for surviving this one as well. What’s your take on this? I felt so good in this coat that I even popped the collar a bit to look more fresh. Thank you boo for the incredible fall wonderland photos!

Well with that I leave you guys. The long weekend was super good for me to recharge batteries and be extra prepared for the final stretch of the year. Just 3 more weeks and I’ll be traveling down to Mexico to spend the holidays with my family. Thanksgiving was incredible, and I still have it pending but I’ll soon get back to you with my Black Friday shopping post. I found so many cool things and I can’t wait to show them to you, plus the discount part was the best of it. Next week, I have prepared a list of Holiday gifts for him, something which was suggested to me by a really good friend of mine and I hope you all find helpful (thanks Melinda for the idea!) ¡Hola a todos! Antes de empezar con el post de hoy, quisiera agradecerles una vez más de la manera más profunda a todos los que me enviaron mensajes de felicitación la semana pasada por el primer aniversario de Geek Q. Sinceramente, les prometo que mientras cuente con su apoyo y sigan haciendo de este blog lo que es hoy en día, seguiré esforzándome para proveerles el mejor contenido y las mejores ideas. Hay muchas áreas de oportunidad donde aún puedo crecer y convertirme en un mejor escritor y un mejor blogger, pero con ustedes a mi lado haré todo lo posible para mantener este moméntum y seguir aprendiendo. Esa es una de las cosas que más me gusta sobre este proyecto, que hay tanto espacio para dejar que mi creatividad fluya y que puedo adentrarme en áreas donde no necesariamente soy un experto, pero por las cuales siento una enorme pasión como se que muchos de ustedes comparten conmigo. Así que de nuevo muchísimas gracias por crecer conmigo y por ser la mejor audiencia que podría pedir.

Hoy les traigo un conjunto de fotografías que tomamos hace unas semanas mi mejor amiga bloggera Kim y yo en nuestro tiempo 1-a-1, quien se encontraba en Hawaii la semana pasada pero ya volvió y no puedo explicar con palabras lo emocionado que estoy por reunirme con ella una vez más para nuestras ya mencionadas sesiones de fotos. Este día en particular decidimos tomar fotos en las calles de Redmond, lugar que ya hemos visto provee un ambiente bastante pintoresco y hermoso en otoño con las hojas amarillas en los árboles y las que ya se cayeron también. Empezamos a fotografiar cerca de donde trabajamos, pero nos alcanzó la lluvia a mitad de la sesión y tuvimos que suspenderla por algunos minutos. Fue entonces que decidimos ir a comer a un buffet de comida india aquí en Redmond llamado Kanishka y estuvo delicioso. Finalmente pudimos terminar nuestra sesión cuando la lluvia cedió un poco, y tomamos fotos cerca de Redmond Town Center. En suma fue una tarde increíble y me la pasé muy bien comiendo comida india y platicando con Kim sobre la vida como siempre hacemos.

El elemento que quisiera enfatizar en estas fotos es el regreso de mi abrigo topcoat. El año pasado, usé a este bebé cuando viajé a Detroit y a Nueva York, porque tuvimos un invierno bastante cálido aquí en Seattle. Este año, sin embargo, noviembre empezó con el frío de golpe y ya llevamos más de 10 días estando a cero grados o menos, lo cual no es tan común en esta ciudad. Este abrigo me ha ayudado a mantenerme caliente en estas bajas temperaturas, y realmente me gusta como se ve. Le va a casi cualquier cosa. Aquí, por ejemplo, lo decidí vestir junto con un suéter de J. Crew y con una bufanda circular, la cual tampoco utilizaba desde mi viaje a NYC. Para la parte de abajo, lo combiné con mis joggers color verde olivo, y por último completé el look con mis botas para todo clima, las cuales sobrevivieron al invierno pasado y al parecer este año también lo van a poder superar. ¿Qué sienten al respecto? Me sentí tan bien en este abrigo que decidí levantar el cuello un poco para verme más juvenil. ¡Muchas gracias amiga por las increíbles fotos de otoño maravilloso!

Y con eso me retiro por hoy. El fin de semana largo me ha sido súper útil para recargar baterías y estar muy bien preparado para el último estirón del año. En tan sólo 3 semanas estaré viajando a México para pasar las fiestas decembrinas con mi familia. El Día de Acción de Gracias estuvo impresionante, y todavía les tengo pendiente enseñarles mis compras de Black Friday. Encontré muchas cosas muy buenas y lo mejor de todo fueron los descuentos que obtuve en las diferentes tiendas. La siguiente semana les tengo preparada una lista de qué regalar en estas fiestas para hombre, algo que me sugirió una muy buena amiga y que espero les sea muy útil en estas fiestas (muchas gracias Melinda por la idea). Me retiro no sin antes recordarles que se vistan siempre a la moda y que dejen que los demás escuchen su voz.
