An Urban Escape from the City

Happy Hump Day my beautiful readers! How’s the week turning out for all of you? Mine has been really good up to now. Fall weather has really kicked in by now and the trees are showing a very beautiful foliage. It’s amazing to see all those bright reds and yellows among the trees of the Pacific Northwest. It hasn’t been that cold though, nor rainy whatsoever, so that has been good for the most part. We’re still in those situations where you have to leave the house with a light jacket or sweater but it has to be removed by noon because the sun comes out and it gets warm. However, at night it’s back to cooler temperatures, so you need to put back that same coat or sweater to avoid feeling chilly. That’s why it’s good to dress in layers, so you can last throughout the day with one single outfit. Take that as an advice from someone who’s super weather-aware :).

Anyway, the other day I met with my really good friend Sara to take some pictures around the Seattle area. Sara is an amazing photographer, and we had contacted each other because she was trying to expand her photography portfolio, which you can find on the following link. For me, well as a fashion blogger let’s say there’s never too many photoshoots. So we decided to meet one morning in Capitol Hill and ended up shooting in my favorite park in the city, Volunteer Park. There’s something I really like about urban parks, I mean, Central Park in NYC is probably one of my favorite locations in the Big Apple. And while Volunteer Park may not have the exact same city views that Central Park has, it still has a very city-like, beautiful touch to it and some of the most amazing sights of the Space Needle and the Olympic Mountains you’ll find in Seattle. It has some other really cool features like a round lake, an Asian Heritage museum, a greenhouse full of tropical plants, and a tower which used to store water. Plus, it’s one of my favorite places to just sit down and relax; one of those get-away places that makes you forget about the craziness of the city but it’s still within the city, are you guys with me on this?

For shooting in Volunteer Park, I decided to go with a very casual look of chinos and a button-down. I opted to tone down the colors a bit so that there would be a lot of contrast between the colors of the leaves and trees and the colors in my outfit, and I think that worked out perfectly. This beautiful shirt I got from my family as a gift when I was in Mexico just a few days after my birthday. I really like the pattern in the shirt, which is created by leaves of different colors. Then for the accessories I decided to wear my braided brown belt, an embroidered bracelet from Club Monaco, and my leather case for my Kindle, since everyone loves to read in the park, don’t we all? Finally, I completed the look with my pair of Lugano leather loafers from 1901 by Nordstrom. What do you guys think? ¡Muy feliz miércoles tengan todos mis hermosos lectores! ¿Cómo les está yendo en esta semana? La mía hasta ahorita va muy bien. La temporada otoñal ha llegado de lleno y los árboles ya muestran un follaje impresionante. Es increíble poder ver todos esos colores amarillos fuertes y rojos vivos en las hojas del Pacífico Noroeste. Todavía no ha hecho mucho frío, ni ha estado lluvioso para variar, lo cual es algo bueno en su mayoría. Aún estamos teniendo esas situaciones en las que al salir de casa se necesita una chamarra ligera o un suéter, pero te lo tienes que quitar para el mediodía porque ya hace calor. Sin embargo, en la noche vuelve a refrescar y necesitas volverte a poner el mismo saco o suéter para no sentir frío. Es por ello que es muy bueno vestir en capas en estas fechas, para que puedas aguantar el día entero con el mismo outfit. Tomen eso como un consejo de alguien que está muy al pendiente de los cambios de clima :).

En fin, el otro día me reuní con mi muy buena amiga Sara para tomar fotos en los alrededores de Seattle. Sara es una fotógrafa increíble, y nos hemos contactado porque ella está intentando expandir su portafolio de fotografía, el cual pueden encontrar en el siguiente link. Para mí, bueno, como fashion blogger digamos que nunca está de más tener un par de sesiones de fotos. Así que decidimos reunirnos una mañana en Capitol Hill y terminamos haciendo un photoshoot en mi parque favorito de la ciudad: Volunteer Park. Hay algo que me atrae bastante de los parques urbanos, digo, Central Park en Nueva York es probablemente uno de mis sitios favoritos en la Gran Manzana. Y mientras que Volunteer Park quizás no tenga las mismas vistas de la ciudad como las tiene Nueva York, aún así tiene un toque citadino, muy bonito que lo caracteriza, además de tener las vistas más impresionantes del Space Needle y las Olympic Mountains que encontrarás en Seattle. Tiene otras cosas muy buenas como un lago circular, un museo a la herencia asiática, un invernadero con plantas tropicales y una torre que almacenaba agua. Además, es uno de mis lugares predilectos para sólo sentarme y relajarme; uno de esos escapes dentro de la ciudad que te ayudan a olvidarte del ajetreo de vivir en ella, ¿están conmigo en esto?

Para las fotos en Volunteer Park, decidí ponerme un look muy casual de chinos con camisa de botones. Opté por bajarle un poco de tono a los colores para que pudiera notarse el contraste entre las hojas y los árboles y los colores de mi outfit, lo cual creó que funcionó a la perfección. Esta hermosa camisa me la regaló mi familia ahora que estuve en México un par de días después de mi cumpleaños. Me gustó mucho el patrón que tiene, creado por hojas de diferentes colores. Después por los accesorios me fui por un cinto trenzado café, una pulsera con empedrado de Club Mónaco y la funda de piel de mi Kindle, ya que todos amamos leer en el parque, ¿a poco no? Finalmente, completé este atuendo con mi par de mocasines cafés de 1901. ¿Qué sienten al respecto? ¿Cuál es su lugar favorito en la ciudad para alejarse de todo y admirar la belleza de la ciudad sin salir de la misma?
