EXPRESS Yourself

Hello my dear readers! As I mentioned in previous posts, a few weeks ago I was contacted by a well-known brand to do another collaboration on the blog. Today I’m super happy to present you the collaboration that EXPRESS and I have prepared for you. Their campaign is called Fit For You, and it’s focused on bringing back jeans and denim that are made to fit as a glove and still look stylish and really cool. I’m a big fan of nice denim, and during the in-between seasons I usually like to sport this with different types of shirts and shoes. One thing that is very nice about this fabric is that it is pretty versatile and will work with almost anything. That’s why it has become an icon of American fashion for years.

I chose this pair of washed, distressed jeans because it’s reminiscent of the late 80s and early 90s, when punk and rock where dominating over the music world and most of these artists were trying to change paradigms of what was appropriate to say and wear. They were basically trying to express themselves in a different way, and it’s easy to see nowadays in pop culture that indeed, the 90s are coming back this year and they’re stronger than ever. They’re coming back in movies (Jurassic World, Ghostbusters, Independence Day), music (with the return of the Boy Band such as One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, and strong girl pop power such as Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato), and of course, they’re back in fashion as well. That’s why today I’m paying a homage to that golden age.

Going back to the jeans, this pair is super comfortable and really suits my everyday needs. They have a little bit of a stretch (also really popular in the 90s!) so they adapt really well when I’m running errands all day, and it’s a really fresh look for wearing on a hot summer day. I paired the jeans with another piece by EXPRESS, this short-sleeve shirt with two pockets, and it just gave the whole look a more casual, fun touch. Finally I decided to wear a hat, just because I like hats, and my favorite pair of all-weather boots. What do you guys think? ¡Hola mis queridos lectores! Como ya les había mencionado en posts anteriores, hace apenas unas semanas me contactó una marca muy reconocida para realizar otra colaboración en mi blog. El día de hoy estoy muy contento de presentarles la colaboración que EXPRESS y yo tenemos preparada para ustedes. Su campaña se llama Fit For You y está enfocada en traer de vuelta pantalones de mezclilla que estén hechos a tu medida y que se vean muy bien y a la moda. Soy un gran fan de la mezclilla, y durante el entretiempo me gusta vestirla con diferentes tipos de camisas y de zapatos. Algo que en verdad me gusta de esta tela es que es muy versátil y funciona casi con cualquier cosa. Es por esto que se ha convertido en un ícono de la moda de Estados Unidos por años.

Escogí este par de pantalones de mezclilla deslavados y rotos porque me recuerdan a los finales de los 80s y principios de los 90s, cuando el punk y el rock dominaban en el mundo de la música y la mayoría de estos artistas querían cambiar los paradigmas de lo que se consideraba apropiado para decir y vestir. Básicamente estaban tratando de expresarse a sí mismos de una forma diferente, y es fácil ver en la cultura pop de nuestros días que los 90s están de regreso y más fuertes que nunca. Lo podemos ver en las películas (Jurassic World, Cazafantasmas, Día de la Independencia), en la música (con el regreso de la Boy Band como One Direction y 5 Seconds of Summer, y la imagen fuerte de la artista pop femenina como Taylor Swift y Demi Lovato) y por supuesto, en la moda también. Es por esto que este post es un tributo a esa época dorada.

Volviendo al tema de los jeans, este par es extremadamente cómodo y me sirve muy bien para mis actividades cotidianas. Se estiran un poco (algo que también se popularizó en los 90s) así que se adaptan cuando ando corriendo para aquí y para allá durante el día, y es un look bastante fresco para un caluroso día de verano. Complementé estos pantalones con otra prenda de EXPRESS, esta camisa de manga corta con dos bolsillos, la cual le dio al look un toque más casual y divertido. Finalmente decidí ponerme un sombrero, sólo porque me gustan los sombreros, y mi par favorito de botas para todo clima. ¿Qué opinan chicos? ¿Les gusta el look un poco más desaliñado con la mezclilla rota? Déjenme sus comentarios y díganme también que es lo que más extrañan de la época de finales de los 80s y principios de los 90s.

Bueno eso es todo por hoy.
