Sun-kissed Island

Hello everyone! How’s your week going so far? In my case, this week has been really productive and today we’re just one week away from the big release at work. Sounds a bit stressful, but I’m confident everything is going to turn out well. These past few days have been amazing. For those of you who follow me on social media, you might have seen that Maroon 5 played at the Intern Signature Event this summer. Maroon 5!!! I was extremely excited since it’s one of my favorite bands ever; I’m a big fan since I was in high school, and I know most of their songs. Then that was followed by a great, relaxing weekend up in Lummi Island to celebrate Annie’s birthday. We had a total blast, and we were able to see beautiful sunsets, enjoy the cool ocean breeze while Seattle was baking (it went up to 95F on Sunday!) and just had a really good time together.

Washington State never ceases to amaze me, and Lummi Island was no exception. It’s a small piece of land within the San Juan Islands, an archipelago north of Seattle that lies in the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean. The most well-known island up there is Orcas Island, popular for its whale watching tours where it is quite common to see the whales that gave the island its name. On this occasion, we didn’t see any whales, but we did a 3-mile hike in the island where we were able to see some wildlife (mainly squirrels and birds). To get to Lummi Island you have to ride the ferry from the Lummi Shore, just a few miles northwest of Bellingham. If you’re looking for a calm, relaxing weekend this is a great spot since it’s not too far from the city and there are lots of cottages that you can rent for about $200 a night.

While in Lummi, I was able to shoot in two very cool scenes: a marsh behind our cabin which had beautiful plants and trees and a wooden bridge that you could walk through to get to the forest, and next to the beach, with the serene ocean waters and where we watched the sunset. For this post I decided to wear a sky blue polo with purple shorts. Hey, it’s still summer, and even though it wasn’t nearly as hot as Seattle it was still close to 70 degrees. I paired these two with my Obey hat, which you have already seen in previous posts like this one, and my Sperry boat shoes. Since it was a very relaxing weekend I wanted to wear a comfortable outfit and I think this look raised up to the occasion. We also shot when the sun was already setting, so this gave us a nice, sun-kissed touch on the pictures. What do you think? Do you like this outfit? What are your favorite weekend getaway locations? ¡Hola a todos! ¿Cómo les está yendo en esta semana? En mi caso, esta semana ha sido extremadamente productiva y el día de hoy estamos a exactamente una semana del gran lanzamiento en el trabajo. Suena un poco estresante, pero tengo confianza en que todo va a salir bien. Estos últimos días han estado increíbles. Para todos aquellos que me siguen en redes sociales, probablemente vieron que Maroon 5 tocó en el Intern Signature Event de este año. ¡¡Maroon 5!! Estaba muy emocionado dado que es una de mis bandas favoritas de todos los tiempos; soy un gran fan desde que estaba en preparatoria, y conozco la mayoría de sus canciones. Después ese evento fue seguido por un fin de semana increíble también y muy relajante, al norte en Lummi Island para celebrar el cumpleaños de Annie. Nos la pasamos muy bien, y pudimos ser testigos de asombrosos atardeceres, disfrutamos de la fresca brisa marina mientras Seattle hervía (¡subió a 35C el domingo!) y tuvimos un muy buen tiempo juntos.

El estado de Washington nunca deja de sorprenderme, y en este caso, Lummi Island no fue la excepción. Es un pequeño pedazo de tierra dentro de las Islas San Juan, un archipiélago ubicado al norte de Seattle en las frescas aguas del océano Pacífico. La isla más conocida es sin duda Orcas Island, la cual es muy popular por los tours de whale watching donde es bastante común ver algunas de las ballenas que dieron a la isla su nombre. En esta ocasión, no presenciamos ninguna ballena, pero sí hicimos un hike de 3 millas en la isla donde vimos un poco de la fauna de la isla (principalmente ardillas y aves). Para llegar a Lummi es necesario tomar un ferry desde la costa, la cual se encuentra algunas millas al noroeste de Bellingham. Si lo que buscan es un fin de semana relajante y calmado, este es un gran lugar para hacerlo no muy lejos de la ciudad, ya que tiene muchas cabañas que están en renta a como $200 la noche.

Mientras estábamos en Lummi, tuve la oportunidad de tomarme fotos en dos lugares muy interesantes: un pequeño pantano detrás de la cabaña donde nos quedamos que estaba rodeado de árboles y plantas y tenía un puente que podías cruzar para llegar al bosque, y junto a la playa, donde las tranquilas aguas del océano acarician la bahía y donde vimos el atardecer. Para este post decidí ponerme un conjunto de camisa azul cielo tipo polo con estos shorts morados. Oigan, todavía es verano, y aunque no estaba tan caliente como Seattle aún estaba como a 21 grados. Aunado a esto me puse mi gorra de Obey, la cual ya han visto en otras entradas como esta, y mis zapatos Sperry. Como era un fin de semana relajante quería vestir algo que fuera cómodo y este look fue ideal para la ocasión. También tomamos fotos cuando el sol ya se estaba poniendo, lo cual nos dio este toque sun-kissed en las fotografías. ¿Qué opinan del outfit? ¿Cuál es su lugar favorito para escaparse el fin de semana?
