Blissful Grounds

Hello people! I hope the holiday weekend gave everyone some time to recharge your batteries (I know I recharged mine) and that you all had a great time with your loved ones, whether these were family or friends. I had a very relaxing, awesome time for the 4th of July weekend, and it was a very eventful weekend overall. It all started Thursday evening with the 3rd Annual Intern Hunger Games. That event was a total success! I’ve never seen so many people literally running and fighting for their “lives”, and we had a great time all together. I’m really thankful to the organizers for coming up with such a creative, fun event, and I feel really happy for the winner who received a GoPro camera (I want one!) as the first prize.

However, one of the highlights of my weekend was definitely Vancouver, BC. I’ve been a few times already, and every occasion I’ve been back I’ve found something new and interesting to do. On this trip, that big discovery was the Nitobe Japanese Garden in the University of British Columbia. On my previous trips to the city, I had seen many beautiful places such as Stanley Park, English Bay, BC Place, Robson street, and the UBC campus as well, among many other sightseeing; I knew there was a Japanese garden in the University campus, but I just never had the time to go in. This time, we decided to visit and it was an utmost surprise, how pretty and calm this place is. It’s one of the most recognized, authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan, of course, and it has a very peaceful, serene vibe to it. I felt really refreshed after stepping in these blissful grounds, and it gave me a lot of positive energy.

For my visit to the Nitobe Garden, I decided to wear this combination of floral shirt with teal shorts. There are some pretty neat details about this shirt, but what I like the most is the pop of color in the front pocket. It’s been really hot in the West coast lately, even in Seattle and Vancouver (we tied the record of most 90-degree consecutive days just this past week with 5 days over 90). That’s why shorts and short sleeves have become a staple in my wardrobe during this season (usually it would be around 70 degrees this time of the year so I would be wearing more jeans and denim). I complimented the look with my white pair of tennis shoes and my favorite sunglasses. I think the pictures came out really well, even though you can see how hard the sun was hitting this particular day. What’s your take? Like the combination of color and prints here? Well there goes another of my summer outfits, in what seems to be one of the hottest summers in Seattle ever. This week I’m reuniting with my blog BFF Kim and we’re going to do a shoot while gallivanting around campus. I’m super excited because we haven’t had our 1-on-1 time in so long, and I always have an amazing time with her. It also makes me very happy to have to think which outfit I’m going to wear for my meeting with her. ¡Hola gente! Espero que el fin de semana de asueto les haya dado la oportunidad a todos de recargar sus baterías (al menos yo sé que recargué las mías) y que todos se la hayan pasado muy bien en compañía de sus seres queridos, sean estos familiares o amigos. Yo tuve un fin del 4 de julio muy relajante y divertido, y pasaron muchas cosas este fin de semana. Todo comenzó el jueves en la noche con el 3rd Annual Intern Hunger Games. ¡El evento fue un éxito rotundo! Jamás en mi vida había visto a tanta gente literalmente corriendo y peleando por sus “vidas”, y nos la pasamos increíble todos juntos. Estoy muy agradecido con los organizadores por haber orquestado un evento tan creativo y divertido, y estoy muy feliz por el ganador quien se llevó una cámara GoPro (¡yo quiero una!) como primer premio.

Sin embargo, lo que más resaltó de mi fin de semana fue sin duda alguna Vancouver, BC. Ya había ido un par de veces, y en cada ocasión, he podido encontrar algo nuevo e interesante que hacer. En este viaje, el gran descubrimiento fue el jardín japonés Nitobe en la Universidad de British Columbia. En mis viajes anteriores a la ciudad, había visto lugares muy hermosos como Stanley Park, English Bay, BC Place, Robson Street, y el campus de UBC también, entre otras atracciones visuales; ya sabía que existía un jardín japonés en la Universidad pero sólo no había tenido el tiempo de visitarlo. En esta ocasión decidimos visitar el jardín y me lleve una grata sorpresa al ver la belleza y calma de este lugar. Es uno de los jardines japoneses más reconocidos por su autenticidad, fuera de Japón por supuesto, y tiene una vibra bastante pacífica y serena. Me sentí revitalizado tras pisar estas tierras tan alegres, las cuales me cargaron de muchísima energía positiva.

Para mi visita al jardín Nitobe, decidí ponerme esta combinación de camisa floral con shorts verdes. Hay muchos detalles que me encantan de esta camisa, pero lo que más me gusta es sin duda el toque de color que tiene el bolsillo en la parte de adelante. Ha estado haciendo mucho calor en la costa oeste últimamente, aún en Seattle y en Vancouver (empatamos el récord de mayor cantidad de días consecutivos por encima de los 32 grados esta semana con 5 días arriba de 32). Es por ello que los shorts y las camisas de manga corta se han convertido en pieza fundamental de mi guardarropa esta temporada (normalmente estaríamos rondando los 22 grados en esta parte del año entonces utilizaría más mezclillas). Completé el look con mi par favorito de tennis blacos y lentes de sol. Creo que las fotos quedaron bastante bien, aunque se puede ver que el sol pegaba muy duro en este día en particular. ¿Cómo se sienten al respecto? ¿Les gusta la combinación de color y patrones en esta foto? ¿Qué hicieron este 4 de julio? Ahí tienen chicos, otro de mis outfits para este verano, el cuál aparenta ser uno de los más calientes en la historia de Seattle. Esta semana me reuniré con mi amiga bloggera Kim y vamos a hacer una sesión de fotos mientras caminamos por el campus. Estoy muy emocionado ya que no hemos tenido tiempo 1-a-1 en días, y siempre me la paso increíblemente bien con ella. Además me pone de muy buen humor el tener que pensar en qué me voy a poner para reunirme con ella. Es todo por hoy, pero por favor dense una vuelta por su blog y compártanle algo de cariño mientras están por ahí.
