Pink and Blue Skies

Hello readers! The other day I was thinking, and I came to the conclusion that nothing beats the beauty of a good sunset. And with the official arrival of summer, sunset here in Seattle has been beautiful these past days. Just picture this: the sun is setting down at around 9:30 PM, which still leaves around 45 minutes of twilight till the skies darken completely. Not to mention that sunrise is really early as well, around 5:00 AM, giving us days of 16+ hours in the Pacific Northwest. It’s quite amazing! And since summer is really nice here in Upper Left USA, the skies are usually clear during these days, making beautiful and colorful sunsets. Shades of pink, orange, yellow, and blue can usually be seen in the sky as the sun sets down, and it is quite a spectacle to enjoy.

The other day I was sharing with you some details about my new home, and today I’m showing you another reason why we decided to move here: the amazing rooftop view. Since I moved to Seattle, I started to appreciate the advantages of having a place with a nice view of the city and its surroundings, because it’s just wonderful. In my previous apartment, I used to have a really good city view of downtown Seattle, with its cranes and skyscrapers reaching towards the skies. Here we also have a great view, but rather than it being a city view it’s mostly a natural view. Aside from the smaller houses that lead the way towards the lake, our view now includes the mountains, large bodies of water, and lots of green. It’s pretty relaxing and the best thing is that it’s just for our house! Every townhouse in the complex has its own rooftop.

To match this wonderful scenery I decided to wear two of the main colors that you see in the sky during sunset: pink and blue. They make a good combination, because they’re so contrasting but at the same time they complement each other, one brings the calmness of a neutral color and the other the extra pop to make it a fun outfit. As I’ve been telling you for a few days, it’s been quite hot here in the PNW, so it’s time for all the shorts and t-shirts to be dug out of my closet. I finished the look with a white belt and my boat shoes, making this a fresh, really comfortable summer look. What’s your take on this? I really liked how it turned out, and believe it or not, these pictures where shot between 9:30 and 10:00 PM. Just the perfect timing!

Thank you guys for stopping by today! This week has been pretty busy (Windows 10 release is just a bit more than a month away) but there does seem to be some light at the end of the tunnel. Also the intern season has gone full-steam already and I’ve been going to a lot of really cool events with them and having lots of fun. I’ve been waiting all year for summer to begin and it started in a very good way. Next week will be 4th of July weekend (yay! another holiday!) and I’ll be going to Vancouver, BC. ¡Hola lectores! El otro día estaba pensando, y llegué a la conclusión de que no hay nada que le gane en belleza a un buen atardecer. Y con la llegada oficial del verano, el atardecer aquí en Seattle ha estado hermoso estos últimos días. Sólo imagínense esto: el sol se mete alrededor de las 9:30 PM, lo cuál todavía deja unos 45 minutos antes de que el cielo se oscurezca por completo. Aunado a que el amanecer es muy temprano, cerca de las 5:00 AM, nos da un total de más de 16 horas de luz solar aquí en el Pacífico Noroeste. ¡Es increíble! Y como en verano hace muy buen clima acá en la esquina izquierda de Estados Unidos, con el cielo usualmente despejado, este se pinta de hermosos y magníficos colores al atardecer. Tonos rosados, naranjas, amarillos y azules son comunes en el cielo conforme el sol se mete, haciendo un espectáculo impresionante que presenciar y disfrutar.

El otro día les compartía por aquí algunos detalles sobre la casa nueva, y hoy les enseño otra de las razones por las que decidimos mudarnos aquí: la increíble vista en la azotea. Desde que me mudé a Seattle, he aprendido a apreciar las ventajas de tener un lugar con buena vista de la ciudad y sus alrededores, ya que estos son realmente apantallantes. En mi departamento anterior, solía tener una vista bastante buena del centro de Seattle, con sus grúas y rascacielos acariciando el cielo. Ahora acá también tenemos una muy bonita vista, pero en vez de ser una vista de la ciudad es un paisaje un poco más natural. Además de las pequeñas casas que dan camino hacia el lago, nuestra nueva vista ahora incluye montañas a lo lejos, grandes cuerpos de agua y mucho follaje verde. Es bastante relajante, y lo mejor del caso es que, ¡es sólo para nosotros! Cada casa en el complejo tiene su propia azotea con vista.

Para complementar este ambiente tan increíble he decidido vestir dos de los colores que se ven en el cielo cuando se mete el sol: el rosa y el azul. Hacen buena combinación, ya que son muy contrastantes pero a la vez se complementan el uno al otro, uno aporta la calma de un color neutro y el otro le da ese pop extra para hacer del outfit un poco más divertido. Como llevo ya diciéndoles por varios días, ha estado haciendo mucho calor aquí en el Pacífico Noroeste, así que ya fue tiempo de sacar todos los shorts y camisetas de manga corta del clóset. Finalmente terminé el look con un cinto blanco y mis zapatos de lanchero, haciendo de este look veraniego uno bastante fresco y cómodo. ¿Qué sienten al respecto? Me gustó cómo salieron estas fotos, las cuáles aunque no lo crean fueron tomadas entre las 9:30 y las 10 de la noche. ¡La hora perfecta para capturar estos colores!

¡Muchas gracias por visitar el día de hoy! Esta semana ha estado bastante ajetreada (el lanzamiento de Windows 10 es en un poquito más de un mes) pero parece haber un poco de luz al final del túnel. Además la temporada de interns ahora sí ha empezado por completo y he estado asistiendo a bastantes eventos con ellos y divirtiéndome bastante. Llevaba todo el año esperando a que empezara el verano y lo empezamos con el pie derecho. La siguiente semana es el fin del 4 de julio (¡yay, otro asueto!) y viajaré a Vancouver, BC.
