New home, new life

Hello Geek Q’ers! I hope each and everyone of you finds yourself well. It’s June already! We’re halfway through the year now (not really, half the year would be June 30th) and it feels like summer already! Well, for most of the days, but as you guys know I live in Seattle and we’ve been sitting at a cool range between 50-60 degrees for the beginning of June. It’s actually kind of normal in the Pacific Coast, especially in the Pacific Northwest; people call it the June Gloom. However, these gloomy days haven’t prevented me from strutting in some cool outfits, and there’s sun and heat on the forecast so I’m just patiently waiting for now.

I wrote a few weeks ago about how I felt when I left Capitol Hill after being a Hill resident for 4 years. I’m not gonna lie, moving isn’t the most exciting thing in the world, and even after moving, it takes some time for you to unpack everything, put all your stuff in place, and for your life to go back to normal. That’s mostly what I’ve been doing for the past 3 weeks, finding new places for my old stuff. That actually is not that bad; it’s a good opportunity to get rid of things you have but you don’t need, and to clean up your space. This is super important because with time we start accumulating a lot of things we buy, borrow, etc. and it gets to the point where there’s little space for the new stuff, and you begin to feel cluttered.

Today I want to show you a few pictures of the new home, particularly the main patio. One thing that I love about the new house is how Earthy and natural it feels. It has a lot green areas and the wooden accents on the wall give it a really nice touch. Another thing that I really like are the big open spaces. You can really feel the calmness and serenity here, and that translates to your life in many ways. I feel it also helps with creativity and it’s just a really nice place to think and relax. A lot about this new move has been adapting to new spaces, and I think this minimalistic touch will even have an impact in my life. I already started by getting rid of a lot of clothes but there’s plenty more I want to do to place my life in order. Also, I think this garden is going to be my getaway place when I need some time to think :). How about you guys? When you want some time for yourselves, where do you go? Well, this was just a tiny taste of the new house. I want to show you guys more areas (such as my room or the living room) but there’s still a lot of stuff in boxes and I still need to unpack many things. I’m excited though because this weekend they’ll install my new closet! Of course I’ll share it with you guys here when it’s been completed and when I settle down a bit more. One last thing that I forgot to mention is that the house has a rooftop! I can already look forward to the summer BBQs and parties that will definitely take place sometime later this year. ¡Hola Geek Q’ers! Espero que todos y cada uno de ustedes se encuentre muy bien. ¡Ya es junio! Estamos en la mitad del año (bueno, no en realidad porque la mitad sería el 30 de junio) pero ya se siente el verano. Okay, la mayoría de los días, pero como ustedes saben, vivo en Seattle y hemos empezado junio bastante frescos, oscilando entre los 10 y 15 grados durante el día. Esto es, de hecho, bastante común en la costa del Pacífico, y en especial en el Noroeste; la gente lo llama June Gloom (junio sombrío). Sin embargo, estos días nublados no me han prevenido de usar outfits interesantes, y ya está pronosticado sol y calor para el fin de semana así que solo me queda esperar pacientemente.

Les estaba contando hace unas semanas acerca de cómo me sentía al dejar Captol Hill, después de haber sido un residente de la zona por 4 años. No les miento, mudarse no es la cosa más emocionante del mundo, y aún después de la mudanza, toma tiempo el desempacar y poner otra vez todo en su lugar, y tardas en volver a la normalidad. Eso es básicamente lo que he estado haciendo por las últimas 3 semanas, encontrar nuevos lugares para mis cosas viejas. De hecho eso no está tan mal; es una buena oportunidad para deshacernos de las cosas que tenemos pero que no necesitamos, y para limpiar tu espacio. Esto es súper importante porque con el tiempo empezamos a acumular muchas cosas que compramos, pedimos prestadas, etc. y eventualmente llegas al punto donde no hay espacio para cosas nuevas, y te empiezas a sentir atiborrado.

El día de hoy les quiero enseñar algunas fotos de mi nuevo hogar, en particular, del patio principal. Una de las cosas que más me gusta de la nueva casa es que se siente muy natural y orgánica. Tiene muchas áreas verdes y los acentos de madera en las paredes le dan un toque bastante especial. Otra de las cosas que me gustan de la casa es que tiene espacios grandes y abiertos. Uno realmente puede sentir la calma y serenidad de estos lugares, y esto se ve plasmado en nuestra vida en muchas maneras. Siento también que ayuda mucho a la creatividad y es un buen lugar para sentarse y pensar. Gran parte de lo que ha sucedido en esta mudanza ha sido adaptarme a nuevos lugares, y siento que este toque minimalista y natural va a tener un impacto fuerte en mi vida. Ya empecé a deshacerme de mucha de la ropa que no usaba, pero hay muchas cosas todavía que quisiera hacer para poner mi vida en orden. Además, siento que este jardín va a ser uno de mis lugares predilectos para desaparecerme del mundo cuando necesito pensar :). ¿Ustedes qué opinan? ¿Cuándo quieren un tiempo a solas a dónde van? ¿Qué características tiene ese lugar que los inspira? Quisiera agradecerle a mi amigo Carlos por estas fotos, yo sé que siempre te molesto para que me tomes fotos pero mantienes el blog con vida.

Pues esto fue una probadita de la casa nueva. Quisiera mostrarles más áreas (como mi cuarto o la sala) pero todavía hay muchas cosas en cajas que necesito desempacar. Estoy emocionado porque el fin de semana me instalarán mi nuevo clóset, y por supuesto, cuando esté listo y me haya establecido un poco más se los voy a compartir por este medio. ¡Una última cosa que olvidé mencionar es que la casa tiene una azotea increíble! Ya me estoy imaginando las carnes asadas y fiestas en el verano que definitivamente tomarán lugar ahí más adelante.
