The Big Apple I

Happy New Year readers of Geek Q! Welcome to the first post of the new year, one where I’m looking forward to a lot of growth and of course a lot of style! I can’t lie, I’m glad to be back in my beloved Seattle. I had a wonderful time both in Mexico and New York, but it felt so good to step into my apartment for the first time this year and I can’t wait to see what types of adventures are coming next. My time in New York was unexplainable. It’s incredible what the Big Apple does to me; every corner and every building just fills me with a creative flow that I cannot describe. It’s a city that I have a deep place in my heart for, I was there for the first time just in 2008 while doing my first summer internship in Seattle, and I just can say that it was love at first sight. Just to tell you guys that last year only I visited the city 3 times, and after seeing it during both summer and winter, I must confess that winter in NYC is one of the most wonderful things I’ve ever seen.

From the gorgeous tree at the Rockefeller Center, to the ice-skating rink in Bryant Park, the Christmas decorations in the boutiques on 5th Avenue, to the amazing winter outfits NYC people strut in, I loved this season here. And even though it was hella cold, I had lots of fun with layering so it ended up being not that bad. Take, for instance, this outfit I wore while visiting my favorite museum in New York, the Museum of Modern Art. Here I am in the MoMA patio wearing my super comfy joggers, which yeah, protected me from the cold even below 30 degrees! I’m also showing one of my new acquisitions, a Topman cardigan which goes pretty well with this season’s colors, and a very colorful scarf from H&M both to keep me warm and to add more color to the outfit. Finally, one can’t travel around without a nice scout backpack, which is good to keep your personal things in hand and to get rid of some of the layers because when it gets sunny you really warm up. My bag is from Benrus, and as you know from my watch and jackets, I’m a big fan of leather detailing. I was trying to go for a simple, kinda minimalistic look to visit the MoMA. ¡Feliz año lectores de Geek Q! Bienvenidos al primer post del año nuevo, año en que espero mucho crecimiento y sobre todo mucha más moda. No les puedo mentir, estoy muy contento de estar de regreso en mi adorada Seattle. Me la pase increíblemente bien tanto en México como en Nueva York, pero debo admitir que se sintió muy bien el pisar mi departamento por primera vez en el año y no puedo esperar para ver que tipo de aventuras este año traerá para mí. Mi estancia en Nueva York fue magnífica. Es increíble lo que la Gran Manzana me hace sentir; cada esquina y cada edificio me llenan de una energía creativa impresionante. Es una ciudad a la que le guardo un lugar muy especial en mi corazón. Estuve ahí por primera vez apenas en el 2008 mientras hacía mi primer internship en Seattle y qué les puedo decir, fue amor a primera vista. Basta con decirles que tan solo este último año he visitado la ciudad tres veces y tras verla tanto en verano como en invierno, debo confesar que no hay mejor momento para visitar Nueva York como el invierno.

Desde el majestuoso árbol de navidad en Rockefeller Center, hasta la pista de hielo en Bryant Park, desde las decoraciones navideñas en las tiendas de ropa de la Quinta Avenida, a los fantásticos outfits en los que camina la gente en NYC, amé esta temporada en la gran urbe. La mayor parte del tiempo que pasé ahí estuvimos a temperaturas muy bajas, cercanas a los cero grados. No obstante la experiencia no estuvo tan mal pues me divertí bastante creando looks en capas. Tomen, por ejemplo, este atuendo que utilicé para visitar mi museo favorito en Nueva York, el Museo de Arte Moderno. Aquí me encuentro en el patio del MoMA vistiendo mis joggers súper cómodos, los cuales como imaginarán, me protegieron del frío aún estando debajo de los cero grados. También les muestro una de mis nuevas adquisiciones del año, un cardigan de Topman que va muy de acuerdo con los colores de la temporada y una bufanda muy colorida de H&M para tanto mantener mi calor como para agregar un poco más de color. Finalmente, uno no puede viajar sin una mochila tipo scout. Esta es útil para mantener tus cosas personales a la mano y para deshacerte de algunas de tus capas durante el día, ya que cuando sale el sol sube la temperature y se siente el calor. Mi backpack es marca Benrus y como ya me conocen por mis relojes y chamarras, me encantan los detalles en cuero. Estaba intentando un look más simple, algo minimalista, para visitar el MoMA. ¿Qué opinan? ¿Se logró el objetivo? Por cierto, quiero agradecerle a mi hermana Dany por haber tomado estas y todas las fotos de mi viaje a Nueva York. Las fotos me gustaron mucho, ¡eres lo máximo hermanita!

¡Eso es todo por hoy chicos! Por si no lo notaron, esta entrada se llama Big Apple I, así que pueden contar con que habrá una segunda parte muy pronto con más atuendos neoyorquinos y vistas impresionantes de la Gran Manzana. También quiero aprovechar para decirles que estoy muy emocionado por lo que este año nuevo pueda traerle a mi vida. Sea lo que sea, estoy seguro de que estaré listo para ello. Personalmente, me gustaría seguir creciendo en el trabajo, cuidar y mejorar mis relaciones personales con familiares y amigos, mantener una buena salud y viajar todavía más. Me encantaría saber cuáles son sus propósitos en este inicio de año, así que déjenme saberlo escribiendo un comentario.
