The Seattle Life X Roxxlyn

Hello, hello everybody! How is everyone doing? I hope that you’ve all been having an amazing week so far and that you are all starting this new month of August with the right foot. For me, I have to say, these past few days have been some of the busiest I’ve ever had being a blogger, and I love this! I don’t know how many of you have been following on social media, but if you do, you probably have seen how busy I’ve been over the last 2 weeks. With things like the debut of a collection by EFM at David Lawrence where I got to meet with the Seattle Sounders, to the amazing show that was set up by our friends from Fashion District NW called Cars and Couture, to an incredible photoshoot and collaboration with Banana Republic (which you will see featured in the blog soon) and finally the collaboration I’ve been talking about for weeks with a European brand for accessories, it’s been quite hectic over here. I mean I love being a blogger, but with a 9-5 daily job and the typical social life of a twenty-something (not for long though, since my 30th birthday is coming soon) keeping up with that lifestyle can be hard sometimes. Nevertheless, I love the idea of being so busy with something I am really passionate about, and it just makes everything feel so much more rewarding in the end.

Today I want to talk about the collaboration I did with our friends from Roxxlyn, a luxury stoneware brand from Germany, which I was introduced to by my friend Marcus from Thurston Threads. You might remember Marcus from my interview last year with him, where we talked about how I created this blog. Well, a few weeks back he told me about this brand he wanted to collaborate with and how he needed someone to shoot some styling photos. When he asked me whether I wanted to collaborate and he explained what this brand does, I was totally intrigued and completely interested in helping out. You see, Roxxlyn incorporates real stone into their products. By adding a thin layer of stone to each one of the accessories they produce, they bring the meaning of luxury brand to another level, and for this I got to try a watch, a cell phone case, and a briefcase. Marcus himself got a chance to interview Andreas Plassman, the Director of Sales and Marketing for the brand, and you can check out his interview on this post, where he describes the idea behind this brand and its creation. As I was explaining before, my recent weeks have been extremely busy and that’s why today, I wanted to show you what a real-life scenario looks like in the life of a blogger. And not just any blogger, but a Seattle blogger as well. Here, you can see how the three products I was given to try pair out with 3 completely different looks. I must say, when choosing what to wear for this blog post I was mostly inspired by my every day life, where I might be doing some work or chilling by a coffee place, and then I have to quickly change and get ready for a photoshoot, and then go back to my every day clothes. All of these while I receive multiple calls, work a little bit on my blog, drive around the city, etc. Basically, what I do every weekend or every day after work and I wanted to see if the products and accessories I was using were helpful or not. You see, the key to accessorizing correctly is 1) make sure that the accessories look well with the outfit you’ve chosen to wear, and 2) keep the accessories as functional as possible. For instance, if you’re going to wear a watch with a long-sleeve, just make sure you can easily pull the sleeve so you can see the watch, or if you’re going to use a phone case, which is going to have the same look every day, pick a color that is more neutral and let other elements of your outfit be that pop every outfit needs. Finally, make sure that the accessories are lightweight. No one wants to carry around a super heavy watch or add that much more weight if you decide to put your laptop in a briefcase before putting it inside your bag.

I have to say, when I received the products I was deeply impressed by the incredible quality and attention to detail they have. For instance, the watch has a sapphire glass face, which is resistant to shocks and extreme conditions, and a beautiful metal strap. The phone case is very sturdy, might add a little thickness to a phone, but made me feel like my phone was in a safe spot. And the briefcase, with the beautiful design pattern and color, looks extremely unique and works really well with almost any outfit. Take for instance the 3 outfits I decided to style for these three accessories. For my day at the library, I went for my Lacoste black polo and a nice pair of dark denim jeans, a super casual, every day work look. Then for a nice treat at Storyville Cafe, a local Seattle coffee shop, I decided to wear my striped Zara shirt that I got as an early birthday gift from my parents, and some white denim pants from Moschino, something a bit more upscale but still casual and comfortable. Finally, for the main photoshoot I decided to wear my custom tailored suit from Beckett and Robb, along with a Hugo Boss tie, and my Burberry shades. Another thing you can see in these pics is my actual car, which I haven’t shown on the blog yet, a blue Audi TT which I feel goes really well with my personality and style. For all of these locations the products that I was trying worked perfectly, they looked incredibly aesthetic, and blended in with the vibe I was trying to portray: from extremely casual to a completely dapper look. I want to include here a huge shoutout to Seattle local photographer and really good friend of mine Arturo Garza Photography for shooting these pics for me. They are absolutely wonderful and I’m extremely pleased with the results. ¡Hola, hola a todos! ¿Cómo han estado? Espero que estén teniendo una semana fenomenal y que todos estén comenzando este mes de agosto con el pie derecho. En mi caso, les puedo decir que estos últimos días han sido de los más ajetreados que he tenido desde que empecé con el blog, ¡y eso me encanta! No se qué tantos me sigan en redes sociales, pero si lo hacen de seguro se han dado cuenta de lo activo que he estado estas últimas 2 semanas. Con eventos como el debut de la nueva colección de EFM en David Lawrence donde conocí a varios de los Seattle Sounders, al increíble show de modas que organizaron nuestros amigos de Fashion District NW llamado Cars and Couture, al photoshoot increíble y mi colaboración con Banana Republic (la cual verán muy pronto en el blog) y finalmente la colaboración de las que les vengo platicando desde hace algunas semanas con una marca europea de accesorios, he estado bastante ocupado. Digo, me encanta ser blogger, pero con un trabajo normal diario entre semana y la vida social típica de alguien en sus veintes (aunque no por mucho tiempo, se acerca mi cumpleaños número 30) mantenerse en ese ritmo de vida puede ser difícil en ocasiones. Sin embargo, me encanta la idea de estar tan ocupado en algo que me apasiona de verdad, y hace que al final todo haya valido la pena.

El día de hoy quisiera hablar acerca de una colaboración que hice con mis amigos de Roxxlyn, una marca alemana de accesorios de lujo con piedra, a la cual fui introducido por mi amigo Marcus de Thurston Threads. Algunos de ustedes recordarán a Marcus de aquella entrevista que me hizo el año pasado, donde platicamos sobre los inicios de mi blog. Bueno, hace algunas semanas me dijo que había conocido a esta marca y que quería colaborar con ellos y, que para ello necesitaba de un blogger para que pruebe los productos y haga un shoot de moda. Cuando me pregunto si quería colaborar con él y me platicó de lo que hacía diferente a esta marca me sentí muy intrigado y completamente interesado en ayudar. Verán, Roxxlyn incorpora sedimentos de piedra real en sus productos. Al agregar una delgada capa de piedra a cada uno de sus accesorios que producen, logran elevar el significado de marca de lujo a otro nivel, y para esta colaboración me dejaron probar un reloj, una cobertura de celular y un portafolios. Marcus por su cuenta tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a Andreas Plassman, el director de ventas y de marketing de la marca, y pueden leer esa entrevista en el siguiente post, donde describe la idea detrás de la marca y de su creación. Como les explicaba anteriormente, estas recientes semanas he estado muy ocupado y es por eso que hoy les quiero enseñar en el blog cómo se ve un escenario real en la vida de un blogger. Y no de cualquier blogger, sino de un blogger de Seattle. Aquí pueden ver como los tres productos que me dieron a probar combinan con 3 looks completamente distintos. Debo admitir, cuando estaba eligiendo qué ponerme para este blog post me inspiré en mi día a día, donde quizás me encuentre haciendo algo de trabajo y descansando en un café, y después tengo que cambiarme rápidamente y prepararme para una sesión de fotos y luego me cambio otra vez a un look más cotidiano. Todo esto mientras recibo múltiples llamadas en mi celular, trabajo un poco en mi blog, manejo por la ciudad, etc. Básicamente, lo que hago todos los fines de semana o los días entre semana después del trabajo y, quería ver además si los productos y accesorios que estaba usando me estaban siendo de utilidad. Verán, la clave para elegir los accesorios adecuados es 1) asegurarse que los accesorios se ven bien con el outfit que decidiste ponerte y 2) mantener los accesorios de manera que son funcionales. Por ejemplo, si te vas a poner un reloj con camisa de manga larga, asegúrate de que puedes levantarte la manga fácilmente para ver la hora, o si vas a usar una carátula de celular, la cual se va a ver igual todos los días, escoge un color más neutro y deja que otros elementos de tu outfit la hagan resaltar. Finalmente, procura que los accesorios sean ligeros. Nadie quiere andar cargando con un reloj súper pesado o si decides poner tu laptop en un portafolios antes de meterla en tu mochila cerciórate que no le agregue mucho peso.

Les tengo que confesar, cuando recibí los productos lo primero que pensé es que la calidad se veía muy buena y me encanto la atención que le pusieron a los detalles. Por ejemplo, el reloj tiene una carátula resistente de zafiro que no se ralla y un extensible muy elegante en metal. La cobertura de teléfono se siente firme, le agrega un poco de grosor a tu celular, pero te hace sentir que el celular está en un lugar seguro. Y el portafolios, con el hermoso diseño de patrón y color, se ve extremadamente especial y combina muy bien con cualquier outfit. Tomemos por ejemplo los 3 atuendos que escogí para estos tres accesorios. Para empezar mi día en la biblioteca, me puse mi camiseta polo Lacoste junto con un par de pantalones de mezclilla oscuros, un look muy casual y cotidiano para el trabajo. Después para disfrutar de un tentempié en Storyville Café, una cafetería local de Seattle, decidí ponerme mi camisa de rayas de Zara que me dieron mis papás como regalo de cumpleaños adelantado junto con unos pantalones blancos Moschino, algo un poco más elevado pero todavía casual y cómodo. Por último, para el photoshoot principal me puse mi traje a la medida de Beckett and Robb, junto con una corbata Hugo Boss y mis lentes Burberry. Una cosa más que pueden observar en estas fotografías es mi carro, algo que aún no aparecía en mi blog, y que consiste en un Audi TT azul que siento que va muy bien con mi personalidad y estilo. Para todas estas locaciones los productos que estaba probando funcionaron de maravilla, se veían increíblemente estéticos y se adecuaban al look que quería enfatizar: de algo muy casual a algo completamente elegante. Están increíbles y me dejaron sin palabras cuando vi los resultados.
