Happy Halloween, my friends! Today is one of my favorite days of the year. I love Halloween because, as a creative, it is the perfect opportunity to try to transform yourself and just be whoever or whatever you want to be. It is, in a way, a celebration of self-expression, and also a reminder that the things that scare us the most aren’t really that scary at all, and that everything can be fantasy for a day. Even the trick or treat tradition helps us remember how good it feels to give to others, and that we all have an inner child that can be playful and funny at times. It’s a little reminder that we don’t need to take life too seriously all the time, so I hope that you all enjoy this fun festivity with your friends and family.
As I mentioned in my last post, today I want to share some photos and insights about our Fall Event collaboration between the Seattle Gents and J. Crew this past month of September. If you guys have been following my blog for a while, you should know by now that J. Crew is one of my favorite brands, and my go-to for most-all fall looks. So when J. Crew accepted to collaborate with us I was extremely excited. The event went quite exactly as we expected. We had some appetizers and drinks courtesy from Il Fornaio, and many people gathered up with us to talk about fall fashion. Some of the things that were mentioned included the importance of layering during fall, and how you should be prepared for the sudden, weather changes that tend to happen in this season. We also talked about the colors that are very popular this year, such as olive green, burgundy, tan, and other neutral tones, and how when traveling in the fall it is important to plan your outfits according to the activities you’re doing while being there.
For our collaboration with J. Crew we previously did a photoshoot to promote the event. For this purpose, Antonio and I chose some of the garments from the latest Fall Collection. I went for a very colorful look, comprised of a floral shirt and some tan chinos, everything from J. Crew of course. Since it was a little breezy, I paired these up with a burgundy jacket and I matched a blue belt with navy boots. For his look, Antonio went a little more neutral with an all blue ensamble which included a sweater jacket, a chambray shirt, and a pair of jeans. Here you can see both of our looks in the streets of downtown Seattle, thanks to the help of our amazing photographer Debra Hart. For the actual event, we also had the chance to display some of the latest Fall Collection, and this outfit we got to keep for ourselves! I decided to wear one of their latest flannel shirts along with an olive green cardigan and a pair of brown chinos. Antonio also went for a flannel shirt (they are very popular this time of the year) in plaid, along with a gray Henley and some olive green pants (this color is amazing!). Well with that I’m going to leave you guys today. Next month is starting full-throttle already, with a fashion-packed agenda for almost the whole month. As I mentioned in my previous post, November is both the anniversary of the Seattle Gents and of Geek Q. Next Wednesday, we will be having our Seattle Gents Two-Year Anniversary Celebration which is titled The Modern Man. This event will feature prizes from our brand sponsors, personal sketches, photography with your favorite influencers, and a special keynote speaker, so you can’t miss it! Another thing I want to share, is you might remember me appearing in a Cut video a few weeks ago with some other influencers. Well, a group of them and I gathered recently to re-watch that video and filmed our reactions. The video is pretty funny, and we also read out loud some of the comments we received on YouTube. ¡Feliz Halloween, mis amigos! Hoy es uno de mis días favoritos de todo el año. Me encanta Halloween porque, como un creativo, es la oportunidad perfecta para transformarnos y ser cualquiera o lo que quiera que queramos ser. Es en cierta manera, una forma de celebrar la nuestra autoexpresión, y un recordatorio de que la mayoría de las cosas que nos asustan o dan miedo en realidad no hay razón por qué temerles y, que todo puede ser fantasía por un día. Inclusive la tradición de pedir dulces nos recuerda lo bien que se siente dar a los demás, y que todos llevamos un niño o niña dentro que puede ser juguetón y divertirse de vez en cuando. También nos recuerda que no tenemos que tomarnos todo en la vida tan serio todo el tiempo, así que espero que disfruten de esta fiesta con sus amigos y familiares.
Como les mencionaba en mi post anterior, hoy les quiero compartir algunas fotografías y consejos que dimos en nuestra colaboración de otoño entre los Seattle Gents y J. Crew. Si ya tienen tiempo siguiendo mi blog, entonces muchos de ustedes debieran de saber que J. Crew es una de mis marcas de ropa favoritas y, en otoño suelo recurrir a esta marca para la mayoría de mis looks. Así que cuando J. Crew aceptó colaborar con nosotros me emocioné bastante. El evento sucedió tal y como esperábamos. Ofrecimos algunos bocadillos y bebidas cortesía de Il Fornaio, y muchos nos reunimos para hablar sobre moda de otoño. Algunos de los puntos que fueron mencionados fue la importancia de vestirse en capas en otoño, ya que debemos estar preparados para los cambios repentinos en el clima que suelen suceder en esta época. También hablamos sobre los colores que están en tendencia esta temporada, tal como el color verde olivo, el marrón, café claro, y otros tonos neutrales, y como cuando viajamos en otoño es importante planear nuestros outfits de acuerdo a lo que vamos a hacer.
Para nuestra colaboración con J. Crew, hicimos una sesión de fotos antes del evento para poder promoverlo. Para dicha sesión, Antonio y yo elegimos algunas de las piezas de la última Colección de Otoño. Yo me incliné por un look con mucho color, conformado por una camisa floral y un par de chinos en color café claro, todo de J. Crew por supuesto. Dado que hacía algo de viento, me puse este atuendo con una chamarra en color vino y los combiné con un cinto azul y botas azul marino. Para su conjunto, Antonio decidió inclinarse por algo un poco más neutro en un conjunto de diferentes tonos azules que incluye un suéter, una camisa de mezclilla y unos jeans. Aquí pueden observar nuestros dos looks en las calles del centro de Seattle gracias al gran trabajo de nuestra fotógrafa Debra Hart. Para el evento en sí, también tuvimos la oportunidad de enseñar un poco de la Colección de Otoño más reciente y, ¡este outfit nos lo pudimos quedar! Decidí vestir uno de sus modelos más nuevos de camisa de franela junto con un cardigan en color verde olivo y un par de pantalones en color café. Antonio viste una camisa de franela igualmente (son muy populares en esta época) de cuadros, junto con una camiseta interior en color gris y unos pantalones en color verde (¡me encanta este color!) Quisiera agradecer a Avi por tomar estas fotos y a todos los que atendieron al evento. ¡Son lo máximo!
Bueno con eso los dejo el día de hoy amigos. El próximo mes empieza con todos cilindros, con un calendario lleno de eventos relacionados con la moda casi todo el mes. Como mencioné en otro post, noviembre es el aniversario tanto de los Seattle Gents como de Geek Q. El próximo miércoles, tendremos nuestra celebración del segundo aniversario de los Seattle Gents en un evento titulado El Hombre Moderno. En el evento habrá premios de parte de nuestros patrocinadores, dibujantes, fotos con sus influencers favoritos, y una conferencia muy especial, así que no se lo pierdan. Otra cosa que quisiera compartirles es, quizás recuerden de mi aparición en un video de Cut hace apenas una semanas con algunos otros influencers. Bueno un grupo de ellos y yo nos reunimos recientemente para volver a ver el video y grabar algunas de nuestras reacciones. El video es muy gracioso, y además leímos algunos de los comentarios que recibimos en YouTube en voz alta.
