Hello folks! How is everyone doing? For obvious reasons, I decided to delay yesterday’s post, and even though I rarely want to get political in this blog, I do want to say one thing. I believe in the goodness of people and I believe in the goodness of this country. It has given me so many opportunities this far, and I am privileged enough to live in a city where one can profess their religion freely, love whomever they want and marry them, get the job of their dreams whether you’re a man or a woman, and make the living they aspire to without having to live in fear of violence. I know, however, that this is not the case for many people, and now more than ever, we need to stand together so that these human rights prevail and keep applying to everyone, everywhere. One day of voting and one election result does not define who we are or what we do every day to try to be better persons. I believe we are all better human beings when we accept each other, whether we have different political views, religious beliefs, gender identity or sexual orientation, a different skin tone or come from another country. So let’s work together for what is right and keep making our voices heard, because one decision doesn’t change the course of a whole country overnight; however, our daily actions towards each other can really make a change for good. It all starts with listening to each other and embracing our differences as our strengths, understanding one another and living together in peace no matter what we believe is right or wrong. That’s what makes this country so beautiful and why I love living here.
Changing the topic back to style, the sole main point of this blog, I want to talk about the up-and-coming, growing menswear community in Seattle, and about how a group of influencers have gathered to continue putting the Emerald City on top of the fashion world. A few weeks ago, my friend Avi from SuitedSoor contacted me via Instagram to ask if I wanted to become part of a group of Seattle menswear bloggers. Avi is from LA, and he was wondering why people here in Seattle hadn’t yet caught up with the latest trends in fashion and with the interest in fashion in general. I felt really lucky and humbled to be considered, and I must say that I’m really grateful for having this opportunity. Over the next few days, more and more people were starting to become a part of this group, which through some way or another, were all related to creativity, fashion, lifestyle, or art. That’s basically how The Seattle Gents came to be, and I must say, I never thought that there would be so many people so passionate about style and fashion in the city of Seattle! That’s why I’m so glad that I finally got to meet so many of them thanks to the help of social media and the willingness of a very driven person.
A few days later, Avi and Antonio organized, just between us Gents, a Saturday morning brunch in downtown Seattle. Little did I know, but what I surprise to me it was that they had contacted Esther Swaty, who’s also a good friend of mine from my collaborations with YaJoe and who also owns a blog called Uncommon Cartography, to plan this whole event, and I must say, this is how you do a fashion brunch guys! We got together at the Goldfinch Tavern at the Four Seasons to enjoy an exquisite buffet with mimosas and tiny slushies. Esther also brought her really good friend and photographer Danny Owens to take pictures of all of us enjoying our meals, looking at the window, reading the paper, or chatting with each other. Down below, you can see a bunch of photos of us just having fun. Something that I really like about this group is how we are all so different, both in style and personality, but we’re coming together for a common goal and we have a lot of ideas on how to increase Seattle’s visibility in terms of style and fashion. That’s what brought us together initially and over the coming weeks you’ll see more and more coming from these gents. For my meeting with The Seattle Gents, I decided to wear a timeless combination of a trench coat with a sweater and tie. My coat is from Topman and the burgundy sweater I’m wearing is Club Monaco. For the pants and shirt, I went for Zara because they have an amazing fit, and the new fall pants collection is to die for. I paired this outfit with my Chelsea boots from Aldo and finally my Michael Kors watch topped the whole look. I wanted to go for a very British-looking style, and I think the outfit worked to perfection. What do you guys think? As you can see, each and everyone of us has a very different take on menswear. Some are more street style, others are dapper, others like to wear a lot of color, and some others are more into the classic, neutral tones. I want to thank Danny Owens for taking all of these photographs and for capturing not only the amazing looks everyone was sporting, but also the expression and emotion in some of these shots. They are incredible!

I must say that I’m extremely excited about the things that this group of gentlemen and myself will be able to do together in terms of style and fashion, and I’m sure there are a lot of collaborations and meet-ups in store so just keep posted to the blog to know more about these amazing Seattle Gents. I feel so lucky to become part of such a vibrant community here in my own city and I can just promise this is not the last time you’ll hear about us. ¡Hola amigos! ¿Cómo les va? Por obvias razones, decidí postergar mi post del día de ayer y, aunque rara vez quiero hablar de política en este blog, sí quiero decir una cosa. Creo en la bondad de la gente y creo en la bondad de este país. Me ha dado tantas oportunidades hasta ahora y me siento privilegiado en vivir en una ciudad donde uno puede profesar su religión libremente, amar a quien quiera y casarse, obtener el trabajo de sus sueños sea hombre o mujer y, hacer de su vida lo que aspiran de ella sin tener que vivir con miedo a la violencia. Sé, sin embargo, que este no es el caso para muchas personas y, que ahora más que nunca, necesitamos mantenernos de pie juntos para que estos derechos humanos prevalezcan y sigan aplicando a cualquiera en donde sea. Un día de votaciones y un resultado de una elección no define quienes somos o que hacemos día con día para tratar de ser mejores personas. Creo fielmente que somos mejores seres humanos cuando nos aceptamos el uno al otro, sean diferentes nuestras perspectivas políticas, nuestras creencias, nuestra identidad de género u orientación sexual o, tengamos un diferente color de piel o vengamos de un país distinto. Así que vamos a trabajar juntos para luchar por lo que está bien y seguir haciendo que nuestras voces sean escuchadas, ya que una decisión no cambia el curso de un país entero de la noche a la mañana; son, no obstante, nuestras acciones del día a día para con el otro las que realmente traen un cambio para bien. Y todo esto empieza por escuchar a los demás y por valorar nuestras diferencias como nuestra fortaleza, del entendernos los unos a los otros para poder vivir en paz juntos sin importar lo que creamos esté bien o mal. Eso es lo que hace que este país sea tan hermoso y por qué amo vivir aquí.
Cambiando de tema a la moda, el único motivo y razón de este blog, quisiera hablar acerca de la creciente comunidad de moda masculina en la ciudad de Seattle y de como un grupo de influencers se ha reunido para seguir poniendo a la Ciudad Esmeralda en la punta del mundo de la moda. Hace apenas unas semanas, mi amigo Avi de SuitedSoor me contactó vía Instagram preguntando si quería formar parte de un grupo de bloggers de Seattle de moda masculina. Avi es de Los Ángeles, y se preguntaba por qué aquí en Seattle los hombres todavía no estaban al tanto de las últimas tendencias de la moda y por qué parecía haber muy poco interés siquiera en la ropa masculina. Al pasar de los días, más y más personas fueron integrándose a este grupo, pero de alguna u otra manera, todos estabámamos relacionados por nuestro gusto por la creatividad, la moda, el estilo de vida y el arte. Así es básicamente como se formó el grupo de los Seattle Gents y debo decir que, ¡jamás pensé que habría tantas personas tan apasionadas por el estilo y la moda en la ciudad de Seattle! Es por ello que estoy muy feliz de haber encontrado a tantos de ellos gracias a la ayuda de las redes sociales y a la voluntad de una persona.
Días después, Avi y Antonio organizaron, sólo entre nosotros los Gents, un brunch un sábado por la mañana en el centro de Seattle. Poco sabía yo, pero que gran sorpresa me llevé al ver que habían contactado a Esther Swaty, quien es una gran amiga mía de colaboraciones con YaJoe y quien también tiene un blog llamado Uncommon Cartography, para planear este evento y debo decir, ¡esta es la manera de hacer un brunch con estilo amigos! Nos reunimos en Goldfinch Tavern en el Four Seasons para disfrutar de un exquisito buffet junto con mimosas y mini-raspados. Además, Esther trajo a su gran amigo y fotógrafo Danny Owens para tomar fotos de todos nosotros disfrutando nuestra comida, viendo por la ventana, leyendo el periódico o simplemente charlando el uno con el otro. Aquí pueden ver muchas fotografías donde se nos ve pasando un buen rato. Algo que realmente me gusta de este grupo es como todos somos muy diferentes, tanto en estilo como en personalidad, pero nos reunimos con un objetivo en común y tenemos grandes ideas para incrementar la visibilidad de Seattle en términos de moda y estilo. Eso fue lo que nos unió tanto en un principio y van a ver durante las próximas semanas más proyectos y más ideas viniendo de este grupo de gents. Para mi reunión con los Seattle Gents, he decidido vestir una combinación atemporal compuesta por una gabardina con un suéter y una corbata. Mi gabardina es de Topman y el suéter color vino que estoy vistiendo es de Club Mónaco. Para los pantalones y la camisa, opté por Zara ya que se ajustan muy bien y su nueva colección de pantalones para el otoño está para morirse. Me puse este outfit con mis botas estilo Chelsea de Aldo y finalmente le dí un toque elegante a todo el look para cerrar con broche de oro con mi reloj Michael Kors. Quería verme muy al estilo inglés ese día, y creo que el outfit funcionó a la perfección. ¿Qué opinan amigos? Como pueden ver, todos y cada uno de nosotros tiene un gusto distinto por la moda masculina. A algunos les gusta más el estilo urbano, otros el más formal, a otros les gusta vestir mucho color, y algunos están más orientados por tonos clásicos y neutros. Quisiera agradecer a Danny Owens por tomar todas estas fotografías y por capturar no sólo los sorprendentes looks que estaban vistiendo cada uno de ellos, sino también la expresión y la emoción que se nota en todas las tomas. ¡Están increíbles!
Eso es todo por hoy mis amigos. Debo confesar que estoy extremadamente emocionado por las cosas que este grupo de caballeros y un servidor lograremos hacer en un futuro en términos de moda y estilo, y estoy seguro de que habrá muchas colaboraciones y muchas más reuniones por suceder pronto, así que manténganse al pendiente del blog para saber más sobre este increíble grupo de personas. Me siento muy afortunado de pertenecer a una comunidad tan vibrante aquí en mi propia ciudad y sólo les puedo prometer que esta no será la última vez que escuchen de los Seattle Gents. La próxima semana, estaré de regreso con mis posts de estilo otoñal, los cuáles no se pueden perder, y les recuerdo que se vistan todos con estilo y que dejen que los demás escuchen su voz.
