Hello, hello! One more week is almost over, and with it we’re getting closer to the end of the year. This one has gone by super fast in my opinion; don’t know if it’s all the traveling or how busy I’ve been during most of it, but we’re a bit over three quarters done and it’s time to start thinking about Christmas and my winter vacation already. It’s pretty crazy how fast it goes, but I do believe it has been a good year so far. One thing that was great this year is that I was able to visit my hometown a few weeks ago. It’s been less than a month since I was in the City of Mountains, but I do miss it dearly from time to time. However, being able to see my friends and family back home gives me all the energy I need to keep going for the rest of the year. As I said, we’re getting closer to that final stretch, and I know that I’m going to be reunited with them in just a few more weeks.
I took the photos I want to share today while in Monterrey during my last visit, thanks to the help of a really good friend of mine who’s also an aspiring photographer. We shot this set in the beautiful parks of Calzada del Valle, a very popular avenue in the municipality of San Pedro Garza Garcia. Something that I really like about this park is that it is a gorgeous, green area right in the middle of the city, next to tons of businesses and restaurants that have been growing in this area since the late 90s. It also offers a really nice view to the Sierra Madre Oriental, a huge mountain range that helps maintain our air clean and also serves as a majestic landscape to the great “Sultana of the North”. If you find yourself in this area, make sure you check out the really nice restaurants in Plaza 401 and the shops near the Rotonda de los Duendes. Both of these areas have lots of delicious food, great outdoor seating, and incredible views of the city.
For my photoshoot in Calzada del Valle, I decided to wear a very comfortable combination of a short-sleeve button-down with a pair of summer shorts. Even though it was at the end of the summer, it is still a very hot time of the year in Monterrey (on this particular day we were getting close to the 100-degree mark and you can tell it was really sunny too), so that’s why I went for something more summery. The light-green cambray shirt is from Topman and the pink oxford shorts are from J. Crew. I went with pastel tones, which are very popular this year and look great year round. For the accessories, you can see me wearing a blue jersey hat, my Topman glasses, which also provided for a nice blurred shot of the trees in the background, along with my Microsoft Band to keep track of my steps. As for the shoes, white sneakers completed the whole outfit. What’s your take on this? Are you looking forward to trying out some of these places, were you to find yourself visiting the area? With this I conclude my Monterrey post, not before reminding you of all the cool stuff that’s happening this week. As you guys might already know, Seattle Fashion Week is taking place this weekend, and I’m going to attend two very important runways. The first one is a ready-to-wear runway, which I’m super excited about because I know some of the designers and their work is exquisite, and the second one is a custom couture runway. Both events are taking place at the King Street Station in Seattle, which is a beautiful setting that I’m already familiar with. I’ll be blogging about those events next week, so make sure you stay posted to Geek Q for some exclusive photos and content. ¡Hola, hola! Una semana más que se nos va y, con ello, nos acercamos cada vez más al fin de año. Este en particular se ha ido súper rápido en mi opinión; no se si sea por haber viajado tanto o por haber estado tan ocupado, pero ya estamos a más de tres cuartos del año, por lo que empiezo a pensar en mis vacaciones de Navidad y de invierno. Es realmente soprendente, pero siento que ha sido un buen año en general. Algo que realmente me hizo muy feliz es que tuve la oportunidad de visitar a mi ciudad natal hace un par de semanas. Todavía no se cumple ni el mes de que estuve en la ciudad de las montañas, pero realmente la extraño mucho en ocasiones. Sin embargo, ver a mis amigos y a mi familia me renueva de energía para continuar el resto del año. Como les comentaba, nos acercamos a la recta final pero sé que en tan sólo un par de semanas me reuniré con ellos nuevamente.
Las fotos que quiero compartir el día de hoy las tomamos en Monterrey durante mi más reciente visita, gracias a la ayuda de un gran amigo mío que además resulta ser un aficionado a la fotografía. Tomamos estas fotos en los hermosos parques de Calzada del Valle, una avenida muy popular en el municipio de San Pedro Garza García. Algo que realmente me fascina de este parque es que es un área verde muy bella justo en el centro de la ciudad, y está rodeada de muchos restaurantes y negocios que han ido creciendo desde finales de los 80s. También ofrece una vista impresionante de la Sierra Madre Oriental, un sistema montañoso muy grande que ayuda a mantener limpio nuestro aire y que además provee de un escenario majestuoso para la gran Sultana del Norte. Si se encuentran en esta área, les recomiendo ampliamente el darse una vuelta por los restaurantes de la Plaza 401 y por las tiendas de la Rotonda de los Duendes, que se encuentra muy cerca. Ambas zonas tienen comida deliciosa, restaurantes muy agradables al aire libre y unas vistas increíbles de la ciudad.
Para la sesión de fotos en Calzada del Valle, decidí usar una combinación muy cómoda conformada por una camisa de botones de manga corta y unos shorts de verano. Aun y siendo ya el final del verano, esta es una época donde todavía hace mucho calor en Monterrey (este día en particular nos acercamos bastante a la marca de los 38 grados y se nota que hacía mucho sol además) por lo que opté por vestir un atuendo más veraniego. La camisa color verde claro es de Topman y los pantalones en rosa claro son de J. Crew. Me fui por estos colores pasteles ya que fueron muy populares este año y, para los accesorios, utilicé una gorra de jersey color azul junto con mis lentes de Topman, que además usamos para una foto con efecto borroso de los árboles muy padre, y mi Microsoft Band para medir los pasos que tomaba. Para los zapatos, unos tennis en color blanco completan el outfit. ¿Qué postura toman con este look? ¿Les interesaría visitar algunos de estos lugares si se encuentran por esa zona? Como ustedes ya saben, Seattle Fashion Week tomará lugar este fin de semana y planeo asistir a dos eventos muy importantes. El primero es una pasarela de moda ready-to-wear, la cual me tiene muy emocionado porque conozco a algunos de los diseñadores y su trabajo es exquisito, y el segudo es otra pasarela de moda pero esta vez de custom couture. Ambos eventos serán en la estación King Street en Seattle, el cual es un escenario muy bonito con el que ya estoy familiarizado. Estaré escribiendo sobre esos dos eventos la próxima semana, así que asegúrense de estar al pendiente de Geek Q para fotos y contenido exclusivo.
