City of Angels

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! I can’t believe that we’re already in April. One quarter of the year has already gone and I feel like it happened in just a couple of seconds. What probably helped intensity this feeling is that I’ve been all around these first 3 months of the year. Right now I’m in Seattle and I’m so happy to be back for a few days. Actually this past weekend was my first weekend in the Emerald City in almost 6 weeks (since Valentine’s day)! And even though I won’t lie, I love traveling and meeting new places, it feels good to spend one complete weekend at home after so many trips. I was able to relax with friends and finally reconnect with a lot of them to catch up, and I even had time to finally unpack after my latest trip to LA.

The City of Angels was exactly what I needed in my life at this moment. After the brutal cold of Boston and a not so welcoming weather in Mexico, it felt great to finally be able to enjoy some sunshine and warm weather. Gosh, I was even able to wear some shorts for the first time this year! During my LA trip I finally had the time to visit a place I really had fancied to go to but had never had the chance to do it: the Getty Villa. My friend Sergio and I (shout out for taking these awesome photos) paid a visit to the Villa and I can just say I was struck in awe the moment I stepped into the main garden. The Villa, which was build by the Getty family in the 60s in resemblance to a Roman villa in Italy, isn’t only a beautiful house with incredible gorgeous gardens and fountains, but is host as well to a small museum full of Greek and Roman artifacts. It reopened as a city landmark museum in the late 2000s, and has since then been a true gem of the city of Los Angeles.

As I said before, during this trip I was finally able to sport some shorts and t-shirt outfits. Down below, you can see a very fresh combo of khaki chino shorts and black tee. Especially for the summer when mixing basics is the easiest way to pull off a great look, these shorts are going to be quite useful because they are really versatile and I love the fit. The scarf was mainly as an accessory, since let’s be honest, it wasn’t even close to cool but I like how it adds some color, and of course I couldn’t be missing my LA Dodgers hat and some aviator sunnies. I’ve missed summer outfits so much! Can’t wait for it to be summer here in Seattle to pull my summer shorts out of the trunk. What’s your take guys? Do you like it? After hitting the Getty Villa, we took the road down to Venice Beach on Pacific Coast Highway to grab some food and take a walk on the beachfront. I had a great time in LA; I really like the city and it’s fashion is one of my favorites, being so easy going and having that fresh vibe. Fornext week, I plan to go to the Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon (just like 1 hour and a half from Seattle) so expect some pretty pics for next time. ¡Hola a todos! ¡Feliz miércoles! No puedo creer que ya estamos en abril. Un cuarto del año ya se nos ha ido y siento como si sólo hubieran sido un par de segundos. Lo que de seguro ha ayudado a intensificar este sentimiento es que he andado por todos lados en estos primeros 3 meses del año. En este momento me encuentro en Seattle y estoy muy feliz de estar aquí por algunos días. De hecho, este fin de semana que acaba de pasar fue mi primer fin de semana en la Ciudad Esmeralda en casi 6 semanas (¡desde el día de San Valentín!) Y aunque no voy a mentir, me encanta viajar y conocer nuevos lugares, se siente muy bien pasar un fin de semana completo en casa después de tanto viaje. Tuve tiempo para relajarme y pasar tiempo con amigos para ponerme al corriente con todos ellos, y hasta tuve tiempo de terminar de desempacar desde mi más reciente viaje a LA.

La Ciudad de Los Ángeles era justo lo que necesitaba en mi vida en este momento. Después del frío brutal de Boston y de un clima no tan agradable en México, se sintió muy bien el poder disfrutar al fin de un poco de sol y calor. Es más, hasta pude vestirme con shorts por primera vez en este año. Durante mi viaje a LA finalmente tuve tiempo de visitar un lugar al que siempre había querido ir pero que no había tenido la oportunidad hasta este momento: la Villa Getty. Mi amigo Sergio y yo (a quien le agradezco por haber tomado estas fotos increíbles) nos dimos la vuelta por la Villa y sólo puedo decir que quedé maravillado en el momento en que entramos al jardín principal. La Villa, la cual fue construida por la familia Getty en los 60s en semejanza a una villa romana en Italia, no sólo es espectacularmente bella por sus jardines y fuentes, sino que es hogar también de un pequeño museo lleno de artefactos griegos y romanos. Reabrió sus puertas como sitio turístico en la ciudad a finales de los años 2000s, y desde entonces, se ha convertido en una verdadera joya de la ciudad angelina.

Como había mencionado anteriormente, durante el viaje pude al fin utilizar outfits veraniegos de shorts y camisetas de manga corta. Aquí abajo pueden ver una combinación muy fresca de pantalón corto chino khaki y una camiseta sin mangas color negro. Siento que estos shorts me serán muy útiles, especialmente para el verano. Es el tiempo en el que mezclando prendas básicas de ropa se logra, de la forma más fácil, conseguir un buen look. También me gustaron porque son en verdad muy versátiles y me encanta el fit que tienen. La mascada es simplemente un accesorio más, ya que seamos honestos, no estaba siquiera fresco pero me gusta como le añade un poco de color, y por supuesto, no podía olvidar mi gorra de los Dodgers de Los Ángeles y mis lentes de aviador. ¡Ya extrañaba los looks de verano! No puedo esperar porque llegue el verano aquí en Seattle para sacar todos mis shorts. ¿Qué opinan chicos? ¿Les agrada? ¿Están emocionados de que empiece el verano tanto como yo?

Después de visitar la Villa Getty, tomamos la Pacific Coast Highway rumbo a Venice Beach para conseguir algo de comer y caminar por la orilla del mar. Me la pasé increíble en LA; realmente me gusta mucho esa ciudad y la moda de su gente es de mis favoritas, teniendo esa cualidad relajada y fresca que la caracteriza. Para la siguiente semana, planeo visitar el Festival de Tulipanes en Mount Vernon (está a una hora y media de Seattle solamente) así que pueden esperar muchas fotos para la próxima vez.
