4 Years in Seattle

Hello beautiful people! I had an amazing time in Mexico, but as everything in this life, things go back to normal eventually, so I’m happy to say that I’m back in Seattle. The first thing that struck me is how beautiful the weather is right now! March is usually very cold and rainy in the Pacific Northwest, I mean, it’s still winter! And even though most of the time our winters tend to be a bit longer here in upper left USA, this year has really been an outlier. From the small array of winters I’ve lived here (on Friday it will be 4 years since I moved to Seattle!) this has definitely been the warmest, nicest winter of all. Even though that’s not good news for snow lovers like me (I could only hit the slopes 5 days this year!) it’s quite enjoyable for hanging out with friends and taking nice pictures.

There are many things that I missed about the Emerald City: the look of its streets, the busy lives of its people, the sounds of my neighborhood, Capitol Hill, and the smell of spring air filling my lungs as I step out of my apartment. It’s probably due to the lack of winter, but the trees are already blooming with beautiful flowers and they are starting to regrow their leaves. This makes altogether a very pretty scene, with lots of color and lots of life. I love to walk these streets. It makes me feel the nice vibe of this wonderful city and just never ceases to amaze me. But mostly I’ve missed my friends, which I’ve made a ton in 4 years, and who have forged me and helped me become the man I am today. I’m really grateful for being surrounded with so many amazing people in my life, and I want to continue cherishing these friendships forever. They are, only second to my family, the most precious thing that I have.

For my fourth anniversary, I’m showcasing a very comfortable, street-walk style, created by mixing my pair of washed pink chinos and this patterned sweater that I got as a gift from my family last year. I love button-down and sweater combinations; it’s very easy to mix and match various styles of these two garments and create a very different look than what you would achieve with just the shirt or just the sweater. Since it’s still a bit cold I’m wearing a light jacket, and my all-weather brown boots that have survived everything this year (rain in the PNW, dust in Monterrey, snow in Boston, walking a LOT in NYC). What’s your take on this outfit guys? This is what I love about my city, but what is it that you love about yours? That’s a wrap for the day. I’m very excited because my traveling seems to never end this year. This weekend I’ll be flying to LA to visit my very good friend Sergio, so I’ll finally get my good dose of sunshine and warmth that I needed. I’m also excited because this week I’ll be meeting with Kim! It seems so long since we last saw each other, and we have A LOT to talk about, plus we’ll be taking some nice photos for our blogs so keep posted. ¡Hola gente bonita! Me la pasé increíblemente bien en México, pero como todo en esta vida, las cosas vuelven a su normalidad eventualmente, y debo decir que estoy muy contento de estar de regreso en Seattle. Lo primero que me sorprendió al llegar fue lo bien que está el clima en estas fechas. Marzo usualmente es un mes frío y lluvioso en el Pacífico Noroeste, ya que, ¡aún es invierno! Y aunque la mayoría de nuestros inviernos tienden a ser un poquito más largos en esta región, este año ha sorprendido a todos. De la poca cantidad de inviernos que he vivido en este lugar (el viernes cumpliré 4 años desde que me mudé a Seattle) este difinitivamente ha sido el más cálido y seco. Aunque eso no son buenas noticias para los amantes de la nieve como yo (este año sólo pude ir a hacer snowboard 5 veces) es muy agradable para pasar el tiempo con amigos y tomar bonitas fotografías.

Son muchas las cosas que extrañaba de la Ciudad Esmeralda: la apariencia de las calles, la ajetreada vida de sus habitantes, los sonidos de mi colonia, Capitol Hill, y el aroma de la primavera llenando mis pulmones cuando salgo de mi departamento. Probablemente se debe a la falta del invierno, pero los árboles ya empezaron a florecer y ya les están empezando a salir las hojas. Todo esto genera una escena bastante hermosa, con mucho color y con mucha vida. Me encanta caminar por estas calles. Me hace sentir la cálida vibra de esta ciudad tan increíble que nunca deja de sorprenderme. Pero lo que más extrañé fue a mis amigos, que en 4 años ya he hecho bastantes, y que me han forjado y han ayudado a formar el hombre que soy ahora. Me siento muy agradecido por estar rodeado de tan grandiosas personas en mi vida, y me gustaría seguir cuidando de estas amistades para siempre. Después de todo son, seguido de mi familia, lo más preciado que tengo.

Para mi cuarto aniversario, les presento un look bastante cómodo, citadino, creado al mezclar mi par de chinos rosas deslavados con este suéter de patrones que me dio de regalo mi familia el año pasado. Me encanta la combinación de camisa con suéter; es muy sencillo combinar varios estilos de estas dos prendas y crear un look completamente diferente de lo que se lograría sólo con la camisa o con el suéter. Dado que todavía hace un poco de frío me encuentro vistiendo una chamarra ligera, y mis botas para todo clima que han sobrevivido a todo este año (la lluvia del Pacífico Noroeste, el polvo de Monterrey, la nieve de Boston, largas caminatas en NYC). ¿Qué opinan de este outfit? Ya les dije lo que yo más adoro de mi ciudad, ¿qué es lo que a ustedes les gusta de la suya? Eso es todo por hoy chicos. Estoy muy emocionado porque mis viajes no terminan este año. El fin de semana volaré a LA para visitar a mi buen amigo Sergio, así que al fin tendré esa dosis de sol y calor que necesito. También estoy feliz porque esta semana me reuniré con Kim. Parece que pasaron años desde la última vez que nos vimos y tenemos MUCHO de que platicar, además de que tomaremos fotos para nuestros blogs, mántenganse al pendiente.
