Hello my readers! It feels so good to be back! Temporarily of course, because I’m already onto my next adventure by the end of this week when I’m going to Monterrey for two weeks to get my Visa renewed. This is usually my busiest time of the year in regards to traveling, but I know it will wind down by the summer. I really missed it here! The sun is still shining in Seattle, it got a little colder but nothing compared to the extremes I experienced this past weekend in Boston. Gosh was it cold! Not to mention the almost 3 feet of snow that laid on the sidewalks. It did make up for a pretty scene, but I think I prefer my 50-degree weather and sunny afternoons in the West Coast.
The trip to Boston was a total success. The conference went exactly as planned and I think that we found really good talent from all over the place. I also had the best of times with Kim, and I’m so glad that I did this trip with her! She encouraged me to go to my first hot yoga lesson. I was a little hesitant about hot yoga since I had heard that it was pretty intense and I hadn’t done any yoga for a long time. It ended up being not that bad; I actually felt quite comfortable there. The best part was going for smoothies and shopping with Kim right after our yoga class. Just exactly what I needed after sweating my ass off. During this trip I also had the pleasure of meeting Dara, who is also a fashion blogger and is joining Microsoft over the next few months. Now, on to my outfit here. When you think about 30- or 40-degree weather it’s already time to bundle up. However, before this trip I was totally not prepared for 20s and even teens for daytime highs. It was way beyond any cold I usually experience here in Seattle. This Canada Goose parka was the perfect outerwear for this type of weather. It’s really light, and it compacts really well, which is something that you have to take into account when carrying cold weather clothes in your luggage. Also, it’s extremely warm, since it has two inner layers and a detachable hood. And yeah, it might make my body look a little bigger, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re adventuring into the cold. Look at what I’m wearing underneath, just a flannel shirt and an underwear t-shirt and that’s it! I didn’t suffer any cold with this, and my corduroy pants with some long underwear did the trick for the bottom part. What do you guys think? Looks cool and it’s warm right? I totally do not regret expending some pretty cash on this parka. Will definitely use it in the future in another trip, I’m sure about it.
On the last day, I decided to pay a visit to Harvard University, and those are the last pics you can see in these post. I loved the architecture of Harvard, with its majestic churches and its beautiful classrooms. It was a really pleasant visit, even though it was still really cold and it started snowing while I was there, so if you have the chance I really suggest you take a visit to this amazing university. I had little time to tourist around, but from what I saw Boston seems like a very cool city, and I’m sure it is way better in the spring and summer. Hopefully I can go back really soon. ¡Hola mis lectores! Se siente tan bien estar de regreso en casa. Sólo temporalmente, ya que ya estoy listo para viajar a Monterrey el fin de semana y estaré allá por dos semanas más para renovar mi Visa. Usualmente este es el período del año cuando más viajo, pero ya sé que se tranquilizará todo antes de que llegue el verano. Estoy muy feliz por estar aquí de nuevo. El sol sigue brillando en Seattle, está un poco mas fresco pero no es nada comparado con los fríos extremos a los que me expuse el fin de semana en Boston. ¡Estaba helado! Eso sin mencionar el metro de nieve aproximadamente que se encontraba en las calles y banquetas. Se veía muy bonito, pero creo que prefiero mis 10 grados y tardes soleadas de la costa oeste.
El viaje a Boston fue todo un éxito. La conferencia resultó exactamente cual planeada y creo que encontramos mucho talento de todas partes del país. Además, me la pasé increíble con Kim, estoy muy contento de haber realizado este viaje con ella. Ella me animó para ir a mi primera lección de hot yoga. Yo estaba algo nervioso ya que había escuchado que ese tipo de yoga era muy intenso y además hacía muchos años que no practicaba siquiera el estilo normal. Total no estuvo tan mal la cosa; de hecho me sentí muy cómodo al hacerlo. Lo mejor fue que después de nuestra larga sesión Kim y yo fuimos por smoothies y de shopping. ¡Justo lo que necesitaba después de haber sudado como nunca! Durante el viaje también tuve el placer de conocer a Dara, quien es una fashion blogger al igual que nosotros y está por unirse a Microsoft en los siguientes meses. Muchas gracias Dara por tomar algunas de estas fotografías para mí. Además me encanta tu estilo, y no puedo esperar para colaborar contigo y con Kim cuando llegues aquí. Ahora hablemos del outfit. Cuando uno se imagina temperaturas de entre 0 y 5 grados es tiempo de empezar a arroparse en capas. Sin embargo, antes de este viaje no estaba preparado para temperaturas bajo cero e inclusive cerca de los -10 grados como máximas. Eso está muy por debajo de lo que usualmente experimentamos aún aquí en Seattle. Esta parka de Canada Goose fue la chamarra ideal para este tipo de clima. Es muy ligera y se comprime bastante bien, lo cual es importante a considerar cuando vas a meter ropa de invierno en tu maleta. Además es extremadamente cálida, dado que tiene dos capas interiores y una gorra que se desprende. Y sí, aunque hace ver a mi cuerpo un poco más grande de lo que es, vale la pena si uno va a aventurarse en el frío. Sólo vean lo que estoy vistiendo debajo de la chamarra, una camisa de franela y una camiseta interior fue lo único que necesité para no morir de frío, además de mis pantalones de pana y pantalón térmico debajo. ¿Qué opinan? ¿Se ve a la moda y calientito verdad? No me arrepiento para nada de haber gastado un poco más en esta parka. Definitivamente la voy a utilizar pronto en otro viaje, estoy seguro.
El último día de mi viaje decidí visitar la universidad de Harvard, y esas son las últimas fotos que pueden ver aquí. Amé la arquitectura de Harvard, con sus majestuosas iglesias y sus hermosos salones de clase. Fue una muy buena visita, aún y cuando estaba muy frío ese día y dado que comenzó a nevar mientras estaba ahí. Recomiendo ampliamente visitar esta gran universidad si tienen la oportunidad, no se van a arrepentir. Tuve poco tiempo para turistear, pero de lo que vi, Boston parece ser una ciudad increíble; me encantaría visitar en primavera o verano. Estoy seguro que lo hubiera disfrutado mucho más, ojalá y pueda hacerlo en el futuro cercano. ¡Eso es todo por hoy chicos!
