The Golden Hour (3-Year Blogversary)

Before I delve into today’s post I just want to say one little thing: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEEK Q! That’s right, it was 3 years ago today that I started this blogging journey and I don’t think there could be anything that I wanted to go different in those 3 years. I’ve had an amazing experience since joining the blogosphere, and all of that is thanks to you, my readers. Every post, collaboration, fashion show, and special event couldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for your continuous support and your incredible engagement, and I want to thank you all for that. I’m looking forward to next year, to the relationships still to be built and to continue to improve my craft, and I’ll keep working to give you the best of me, since that’s what you deserve. Because another great year has been written in the books, but my story is just beginning.

Today I want to share with you another photoshoot that I did while in Los Angeles during my recruiting trip last month. Once again, I collaborated with the super-talented Nick Pierce on a set of photos that reflect how I feel about the City of Angels, and if there’s one thing that we can probably all agree on is that there is something spectacular about Southern California sunsets. It is this ephemeral time of the day that provides us with the perfect lighting, and paints the beautiful, Californian blue skies into shades of golden and pink hues for just a little while. It’s the famous Golden Hour, and I told Nick I wanted to capture this special moment in photograph at the iconic Griffith Park, and oh boy did we get some nice photos!

For my photoshoot basked in sunset sunlight I decided to wear a more casual look comprised of a collarless navy blue button-down from H&M along with my burgundy red chinos from Banana Republic. With the influence of Asian cultures, collarless shirts are becoming a very important trend this season, and this one in particular comes in a color that is very easy to pair with my other favorite colors of the season (olive green and brown). The chino look is quite relaxed and comfortable, so it works well for any outdoor situation. For the accessories, I’m wearing my Olympus Pen camera, which I was using to take some nice photos of the sunset, and my Burberry shades. Finally, a pair of royal blue Nike sneakers completes the whole look and gives a more sporty vibe. What do you think? I had a blast working with you over these last two posts and can’t wait to shoot with you again in the future.

As in all my anniversary posts, I have a special something for you guys today. You might remember from last year how I shared my interview with Thurston Threads with you and got to know a little bit more about my brand and my blogging work. Well, continuing on that trend, today I want to share a special video from a panel I was invited to attend a few days ago at the FGI Spring 2018 Trend Presentation event. This was my first time participating in a fashion panel, and even though I was quite nervous (you can see that especially at the beginning of the video) it was a very amenable conversation and we touched some really important topics related to blogging, personal style, trends in the PNW, and fashion in general. Make sure you check out it, my fellow friend from Seattle Gents Antonio Smith from Antoniocdsmith also appears as a panelist, and blogger Natalie from Tallz & Smallz. I also want to give a special shout out to our moderator, Tannya Bernadette, who did an amazing job at keeping the conversation casual and candid. And thanks to FGI Seattle for inviting me to the panel, it was an honor to share my story with you guys! That’s going to be it for today, but remember to be stylish and to let your voice be heard. Antes de adentrarme en el post del día de hoy, sólo quisiera mencionar una pequeña cosa: ¡FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS GEEK Q! Así es, fue en un día como hoy hace 3 años que decidí empezar esta aventura del blogging y creo que no hay nada que me hubiera gustado que pasara de manera diferente durante estos 3 años. He tenido una muy grata experiencia desde que me uní a la blogósfera y todo esto es gracias a ustedes, mis lectores. Cada entrada en el blog, colaboración, show de modas y evento especial no hubiera sido posible si no fuera por su continuo apoyo y por toda su interacción conmigo a través de este medio, así que quisiera agradecerles a todos ustedes por hacer esto una realidad. Veo hacia el siguiente año con muy buenos ojos, a seguir construyendo nuevas amistades y a continuar la mejora en todo lo que hago, y les prometo que seguiré trabajando muy duro para darles lo mejor de mí porque es lo mínimo que se merecen. Un gran año se ha escrito una vez más en mi historia, pero esta está apenas comenzando.

El día de hoy quisiera compartirles otra sesión de fotos que realicé mientras me encontraba en Los Ángeles durante mi viaje de reclutamiento el mes pasado. Una vez más, colaboré con el super talentoso fotógrafo Nick Pierce en un conjunto de fotografías que reflejan cómo me siento respecto a la Ciudad de los Ángeles, y que si hay una cosa en la que todos podemos estar de acuerdo es que hay algo espectacular con respecto a los atardeceres en el sur de California. Es este tiempo efímero del día que nos provee de la iluminación perfecta y, además pinta ese cielo hermoso californiano color azul en tonos dorados y rosados por tan sólo un momento. Es lo que se le conoce famosamente como La Hora Dorada, y le dije a Nick que quería captar este momento tan especial en el icónico Griffith Park y ¡vaya que conseguimos unas muy buenas fotos!

Para la sesión de fotos bañadas en luz del atardecer decidí vestir un look un poco más casual que comprende una camisa de botones sin cuello de H&M junto con mis pantalones chinos en color vino de Banana Republic. Con la influencia de las culturas asiáticas, las camisas sin collarín se están volviendo una moda muy popular esta temporada y, esta en particular viene en un color que es muy fácil de combinar con otros de mis colores favoritos de la temporada (como son el verde olivo y el café). El pantalón es muy relajado y cómodo, así que funciona de manera perfecta para cualquier situación al exterior. Para los accesorios, estoy portando mi cámara Olympus Pen, con la que logré capturar muy buenas fotos del atardecer, y mis lentes Burberry. Finalmente, un par de tenis Nike en color azul rey completan el look y le dan una vibra un poco más deportiva. ¿Qué opinan al respecto? Incluí algunas fotos en blanco y negro ya que se ven un poco más artísticas, y quisiera agradecer una vez más a Nick por haber tomado estas imágenes increíbles. Me la pasé muy bien contigo haciendo estas últimas dos sesiones de fotos y no puedo esperar por volver a trabajar contigo en un futuro.

Como ya es costumbre en mis posts de aniversario, les tengo una sorpresa muy especial el día de hoy. Recordarán del post del año pasado una entrevista que les compartí con Thurston Threads donde pudieron conocer un poco más de mí, acerca de mi marca y de mi trabajo como blogger. Bueno, continuando con esa tendencia, hoy quisiera compartirles un video muy especial sobre un panel al que fui invitado hace apenas unos días en el FGI Spring 2018 Trend Presentation. Esta fue mi primera vez participando en un panel de modas, y aunque se nota que estaba algo nervioso (sobre todo al principio del video) fue una conversación muy amena y tocamos temas de suma relevancia con respecto al blogging, el estilo personal, tendencias en el Pacífico Noroeste y la moda en general.
