Roses All Summer (Intern Vogue 2017)

Hi everyone! It’s me again, Geek Q, did you miss me? Today in the morning, when I walked out the door I felt a crisp, cool breeze which could only mean one thing: fall is around the corner! My favorite season of the whole year is about to arrive in the Pacific Northwest, and even though we had a relatively warm summer and lot’s of heat and sunshine, something felt odd with all the haze and smoke from the fires that I didn’t enjoy it as much as usual. Now almost all of that is gone, and it’s time to start switching to layering clothes, sweaters and cardigans, coats, and drink pumpkin spice latte. I love this season!

Before we turn the page to autumn though, I want to dedicate one last post to the last day of summer in blog-days, and that revolves around a tradition that has been formed since last year called the Intern Vogue edition. You might remember from last summer a post I wrote about intern fashion with the help of my amazing group of interns in the Bloedel Reserve. Well, this year, almost the same group of interns (with the exception that Henry was MIA this summer but we got Jacey instead) and I went to a beautiful garden once more and took a photoshoot for the ages with incredible flower sceneries, a gorgeous wooden gazebo, water fountains, and of course, nothing could match this scene better than florals and pastels! So we all decided to wear these two themes.

For this awesome adventure, the interns and I met on a Sunday morning at the rose garden in the Woodland Park Zoo in north Seattle. When we decided this was going to be the setting I was kind of skeptic, since I didn’t know the place and thought that a zoo might be too crowded to do a photoshoot. However, the day turned out perfectly and the interns delivered #ChannelYourInnerGigiHadid. Not only was the park almost empty that day (waking up early does have its rewards sometimes) but there were so many beautiful backgrounds to shoot at that I was extremely pleased with the results. Here you can see Emily, Elise, Jacey, and Teal rock some beautiful summer garments in a matching gorgeous environment.

For my meeting with the interns at the rose garden, I decided to wear a summery look comprised of a rose button-down from Club Monaco and some white bermuda shorts from Moschino. Since we were going to shoot outside, I wanted an outfit that would be cool but also a bit neutral, so that the flowers from the garden could stand out even more in the photos. For the shoes I went for my brown dress shoes from Aldo and for the accessories I was sporting some wooden sunglasses and my Roxxlyn watch. Most of the photos were taken by me, with the exception of the ones I’m in and a few others that the girls took with my portable Olympus camera while I was shooting with the Nikon. You can even see some behind the scenes in one of the photos! What do you guys think? Are you ready for fall as well? That’s going to be it for now. As I said, this was the last post of summer in the blog, but I’m excited to show you my best Seattle fall outfits in the upcoming months and to keep doing style blogging, so keep posted for more. This fall season is going to be packed with activities! It all starts next week with Bellevue Fashion Week, which I will be attending for the first time this year (and I’ll get to meet one of my favorite designers, Christian Siriano at a special event!) Then I’ll be traveling to LA for a recruiting trip later in October, so expect some photos from that trip too. Finally there’s my trip to Costa Rica end of next month, which of course you’ll know all about through my blog. And I have a few collaborations and events with the Seattle Gents in the upcoming weeks, so you can’t miss a thing! ¡Hola a todos! Soy yo de nuevo, Geek Q, ¿me extrañaron? Hoy en la mañana, cuando salí de mi casa me di cuenta de que había una brisa fresca en el aire, lo cual sólo puede significar una cosa: ¡el otoño está a la vuelta de la esquina! Mi estación favorita de todo el año está a punto de llegar al Pacífico Noroeste y, aunque tuvimos un verano relativamente cálido este año con mucho calor y sol, algo se sintió fuera de lugar con toda la neblina y el humo causado por los incendios forestales que no lo pude disfrutar tanto como usualmente lo hago. Ahora que todo eso se ha ido, es hora de empezar a cambiar a atuendos en capas, vestir suéteres y cárdigans, abrigos y tomar pumpkin spice latte. ¡Me encanta esta temporada!

Antes de que demos la vuelta a la página para comenzar el otoño, quisiera dedicarle un último post al último día de verano en el blog dada la cadencia con la que posteo, y que gira alrededor de una tradición que se formó el año pasado llamada Intern Vogue Edition. Quizás recuerden un post del verano pasado que escribí acerca de moda para interns con ayuda de mi increíble grupo de interns en la Bloedel Reserve. Bueno, este año, casi el mismo grupo de interns (con la excepción de Henry quien se encontró fuera este verano pero que fue reemplazado por Jacey) y yo fuimos una vez más a un hermoso jardín de la localidad a tomar fotos para el recuerdo con increíbles panoramas llenos de flores, un bello mirador de madera, fuentes, y por supuesto, ¡nada podía combinar con esta escena mejor que patrones florales y colores pasteles! Así que decidimos que esos serían los dos temas que regirían nuestros atuendos.

Para esta increíble aventura, los interns y yo nos reunimos una mañana de domingo en el jardín de rosas que se encuentra en el Woodland Park Zoo al norte de Seattle. Cuando se decidió que este sería el escenario para la sesión de fotos yo estaba un poco escéptico, ya que no sabía del lugar y pensé que un zoológico iba a estar muy lleno de gente como para hacer una sesión de fotos. Sin embargo, el día salió a la perfección y los interns entregaron su máximo en las fotos #ChannelYourInnerGigiHadid. No sólo estaba el parque casi vacío ese día (levantarse temprano tiene sus recompensas de vez en cuando) sino además había demasiados escenarios naturales hermosos donde podíamos tomar fotografías y quedé extremadamente satisfecho con los resultados. Aquí pueden ver como Emily, Elise, Jacey y Teal portan unos de los looks más hip del momento en este magnífico inmueble.

En mi reunión con los interns en el jardín de rosas, decidí vestir un look muy veraniego que comprende una camisa color rose de botones de Club Monaco y unos pantalones cortos en color blanco de Moschino. Como íbamos a estar tomando fotos al exterior, quería un outfit que se viera bien pero que también fuera algo neutro, para que las flores del jardín resalten en las fotografías. Para los zapatos, me fui por mis zapatos de vestir color café de Aldo y para los accesorios portaba unos lentes de sol de madera y mi reloj de Roxxlyn. La mayoría de estas fotos fueron tomadas por mí, con la excepción de aquellas en las que yo salgo y un par de fotos que las chicas tomaron con mi cámara portátil Olympus mientras yo estaba tomando fotos con la Nikon. ¡Inclusive pueden verme en una de las fotos detrás de cámaras! ¿Qué opinan amigos? ¿Están listos para el otoño ustedes también? Quisiera agradecer a mis hermosas modelos por verse tan bien en cada una de estas fotos y por seguir la tradición. ¡No puedo esperar por verlas en Seattle muy pronto!

Eso va a ser todo por hoy amigos. Como comentaba, este es el último post del verano en el blog, pero estoy emocionado por enseñarles muy pronto mis mejores outfits otoñales en los próximos meses y seguir haciendo blogging de estilo, así que manténganse al pendiente. ¡Esta temporada otoñal trae consigo un sinnúmero de actividades! Todo comienza la próxima semana cuando estaré yendo a Bellevue Fashion Week por primera vez (y tendré la oportunidad de conocer a uno de mis diseñadores favoritos, Christian Siriano, en un evento especial). Después estaré viajando a Los Ángeles en un viaje de reclutamiento en octubre, así que esperen más fotos de ese viaje también. Y finalmente tengo el viaje a Costa Rica a finales del mes próximo, del cual sabrán todo obviamente aquí en el blog. Y tengo además un par de colaboraciones y eventos con los Seattle Gents en las próximas semanas, ¡así que no se lo pueden perder! Los dejo por ahora, no sin antes recordarles que se vistan con estilo y que dejen que los demás escuchen su voz.
