Motorcycle Diaries

Hello everyone! Today the fall series is coming to a close, but of course, we couldn’t finish this amazing homage to the best season of the year without a bang. First I want to thank all of you for receiving the first series in Geek Q dedicated to a single season with such positivity. I’m delighted to see the amount of positive comments here on the blog and on my social media, and I’m super excited about the new things coming very soon. I also can’t wait to see how you sport and style the items that were featured on the blog, remember you can always find links to the items I’m wearing (or similar) at the end of each post. Feel free to get the same items I do! That’s the idea, to give you a hint as to what I feel is coming strong in the following months and having you put your own touch and personality in the way you style it.

The other day, I met with my blog BFF Kim to go out in an adventure around campus: we were going to find the perfect spot for fall outfit shots. Finding that in the Pacific Northwest is not really that hard, you know. We’re really lucky to have very early and very notorious changes when one season transitions to another, and probably the transition from summer to fall is the most notorious. So anyway, we found this amazing spot in the middle of the street, and if there’s one thing you know about both Kim and I is that we’re not afraid at all to take some risk, so we decided to shoot on the street. That’s right! I mean we took care of each other and let the other person know when a car was approaching, but what we ended up having because of that was an amazing photoshoot with a very urban feel to it. However, what I loved the most about this outing was hanging out with Kim and going for bubble tea right after taking these photos. We had such a great time and really good real-talk like we always do.

Now back to the outfit, here you can see me strutting in a very sporty, edgy look, which is just accentuated by one accessory: the motorcycle jacket. I LOVE faux leather and this jacket is definitely one of my favorite. I kinda love the juxtaposition of the faux leather with the regular cotton (here you can’t appreciate it that well, but the back is completely made out of cotton). This works really well because that makes the jacket super light, perfect for the in-between seasons when you still don’t need such a heavy jacket or coat, but you still want to keep yourself warm. This jacket I got from Zara during my trip to Vancouver a few years ago, and it has lasted for a long time and it’s still in really good shape. Under the jacket, I’m wearing an Italian cashmere striped sweater from J. Crew, and my pair of chambray joggers. For the tennis shoes, I decided to go for my Lacoste sneakers and the final touch on the outfit is given by the Skullcandy headphones which I received as a ship gift for shipping Windows 10 (that’s why they have the Windows logo on them). What do you guys think about it? Notice how even though this looks very urban we still shot in a place with a lot of trees, kind of like the same contrast shown between the leather and the cotton in the jacket. ¡Hola a todos! El día de hoy la serie de otoño llega a su fin, claro, no sin antes cerrar este homenaje a la mejor temporada del año con broche de oro. Primero que nada quisiera agradecerle a todos por la recepción tan positiva que han tenido ante la primera serie en Geek Q dedicada a una sola estación. Estoy encantado de ver la cantidad de comentarios positivos aquí en el blog y en el resto de mis redes sociales, y estoy muy emocionado por enseñarles que más tengo preparado. Tampoco puedo esperar por ver como utilizan y combinan las prendas que fueron mostradas aquí en el blog; recuerden que pueden encontrar los enlaces a los artículos que aquí se presentan (o similares) al final de cada post. ¡No duden en conseguir la misma ropa que yo uso! Esa es la idea, darles una pista de lo que siento viene fuerte en los siguientes meses pero dejar que ustedes le pongan su propio toque y personalidad en la forma en que lo visten.

El otro día mi mejor amiga blogger Kim y yo tuvimos una aventura alrededor del campus para tratar de encontrar el lugar perfecto para tomar fotos otoñales. Encontrar un lugar así aquí en el Pacífico Noroeste no es tan difícil, saben. Somos muy afortunados de tener cambios muy notorios y tempraneros en las estaciones cuando cambiamos de una a otra, y probablemente la transición de verano a otoño es la más evidente. En fin, encontramos este lugar increíble en medio de la calle, y si hay algo que ya deben de saber de nosotros es que no nos da miedo tomar riesgos, así que decidimos tomar las fotos en la calle. ¡Así es! Digo, nos cuidamos el uno al otro y nos avisábamos cuando venía un carro, pero esto resultó en una sesión de fotos impresionante con un toque muy urbano. Sin embargo, lo que más me gustó de esta aventura fue pasar tiempo con Kim y el haber ido por tés con tapiocas después de tomar estas fotografías. Nos la pasamos muy bien y tuvimos nuestra plática súper amena como siempre la tenemos.

Ahora de regreso al outfit, aquí me pueden ver vistiendo un look bastante deportivo y moderno, que es acentuado por un accesorio en particular: la chamarra de motocicleta. Me encanta la ropa de piel artificial, y esta chamarra es definitivamente una de mis prendas favoritas. Me encanta la yuxtaposición del cuero sintético con el algodón (aquí no se aprecia muy bien, pero la parte de atrás de la chamarra está hecha completamente de algodón). Esto funciona muy bien porque hace que la chaqueta sea extremadamente ligera, perfecta para esos entre tiempos en donde todavía no necesitas la chamarra más gruesa o el abrigo, pero de todos modos quieres mantener tu calor. Esta chamarra la compré en Zara durante mi viaje a Vancouver hace algunos años, y vaya que ha durado y sigue estando en muy buenas condiciones. Debajo de esta, estoy vistiendo un suéter de rayas de casimir italiano de J. Crew junto con mi par de joggers de mezclilla. Para el calzado opté por ponerme mis tennis Lacoste y el toque final se lo dan los audífonos Skullcandy que recibí como regalo por haber lanzado Windows 10 (¡es por eso que tienen el logo de Windows!) ¿Qué sienten al respecto? Pueden notar como este look se ve muy urbano aún y cuando tomamos las fotos en un lugar con muchos árboles, más o menos como la simbiosis entre la piel y el algodón de la chamarra. Muchas gracias Kim por estas excelentes fotos, ¡soy un fan de tus habilidades de fotógrafa!

Ya tengo un par de ideas en mente, pero me gustaría saber de primera mano de parte de ustedes mis lectores qué les causa curiosidad o qué quisieran ver como combinar en un outfit. De nuevo, muchas gracias por ser tan buen apoyo para este proyecto, el cuál es muy personal y es del que más orgulloso me siento, y por ayudarme a convertir realidad este sueño de ser un blogger exitoso. Todavía me falta mucho camino por recorrer y siento que aunque me acerco a esa meta aún hay mucho que mejorar. Sin embargo, con ustedes a mi lado siento que puedo lograr eso y más; cualquier cosa que me proponga. Recuerden vestirse siempre con estilo y dejar que los demás escuchen su voz.
