Coachella Festival

Hello people! I hope each and everyone of you is having an amazing week so far. I’m really happy to feature on this post in Geek Q some of my pictures to my trip to Palm Springs this last weekend to attend the Coachella Music Festival. This festival, which I’ve been going to for the past 3 years, gathers some of the most important names of solo artists and bands in the music industry and attracts thousands of people each year to the California desert to become witnesses of one of the most massive and popular music festivals in the world. Music has always played a huge role in my life besides fashion. Being a music player myself, I’ve always been keen to attending many concerts in all types of environments. This passion was intensified after I moved to the US, since now I’ve got an even greater exposure to international artists and I have the means to pay for my own tickets. Almost every month there’s at least one concert I go to (whether it’s a small concert in a private Seattle venue or a huge show in an arena or stadium, it doesn’t matter). This is something that has become part of my lifestyle and I really enjoy doing.

As I mentioned earlier, last weekend my friends and I traveled to Palm Springs to attend the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. We had a total BLAST! There were some bands we saw that I really wanted to see for a long time, but just didn’t have the time to do it, such as Marina and the Diamonds, Clean Bandit, Florence + the Machine, Kiesza, and Hozier, among many others. We also heard some of the coolest mixes by some of the best DJs at the Sahara and the Mojave stages such as Alesso, David Guetta, Madeon, Kygo, and many more. And OMG after being to Coachella for 3 years, I finally had my first celebrity sighting! I don’t know where these people are usually hiding, but I had never seen a celebrity at Coachella until this year, when I saw Katy Perry dancing to Marina and the Diamonds in the VIP section. That totally made my day since I’m a big fan of her, but she was too well guarded and I couldn’t take a clean picture :(. Still overall, we had a great time and we enjoyed an awesome weekend of great music.

Fashion, of course, is another big component of the festival. Coachella is that place where you can really take risks with an outfit and wear something that might look totally over the top in any other situation. During the whole weekend I sported three outfits, which you can see down below. The first day I wore a tank top with the flag of the United States with my Topman denim shorts and my desert boots. It gets really hot during the day in the desert, so summer clothes are a must when attending Coachella (unless you’re Rihanna and you can rock this). On the second day, I wore my signature outfit for the event: a tribal print shirt with green shorts, Toms shoes, and a straw hat. I also included the neck bandana under the shirt, which is really trending right now. Finally, my Burberry shades completed the look. For the last day, I went for a sporty look of jersey shorts and tank top. I’m also wearing my Seattle Mariners cap and some white tennis shoes. In the end, we all had a great time in the desert and while we weren’t at the concert we enjoyed the sun and warm weather in our hotel’s pool. That’s exactly what I needed since I haven’t been to the beach in such a long time, so a pool was a good substitute. I’m quite positive I’m going back next year, because it has already become a tradition for us to attend this music festival and we always have the best of times all together. ¡Hola a todos! Espero que todos y cada uno de ustedes esté teniendo una semana increíble hasta el momento. Estoy muy contento de presentarles en este post de Geek Q algunas de las fotos de mi viaje a Palm Springs la semana pasada para asistir al Coachella Music Festival. Este festival, el cual he presenciado los últimos 3 años, reúne algunas de las figuras más importantes del mundo de la música, tanto bandas como solistas, y atrae miles de personas cada año al desierto de California para ser testigos de uno de los festivales más masivos y populares del mundo. La música siempre ha formado gran parte de mi vida además de la moda. Siendo un músico yo también, siempre me he interesado por asistir a conciertos en todo tipo de ambientes. Esta pasión fue intensificada tras mudarme a los Estados Unidos, ya que ahora tengo una mayor variedad de artistas internacionales y los medios para pagar mis propios boletos. Casi cada mes voy al menos a un concierto (ya sea un concierto pequeño en algún sitio privado en Seattle o un espectáculo masivo en una arena o estadio, no importa). Esto es algo que se ha convertido en parte de mi vida diaria y me gusta mucho hacerlo.

Como ya había mencionado antes, este fin de semana mis amigos y yo viajamos a Palm Springs para asistir al festival de Coachella en Indio, California. ¡Nos la pasamos INCREÍBLEMENTE! Hubo algunas bandas que vimos que yo ya traía muchas ganas de ver desde hace tiempo, pero no había tenido el tiempo de hacerlo, como Marina and the Diamonds, Clean Bandit, Florence + the Machine, Kiesza y Hozier, entre otros más. También escuchamos unos muy buenos mixes de algunos de los mejores DJs en los escenarios de Sahara y Mojave como Alesso, David Guetta, Madeon, Kygo y muchos más. Y OMG tras haber ido a Coachella por 3 años consecutivos, finalmente pude ver a mi primera celebridad en el festival. No se donde se la pasan los famosos la mayoría del tiempo, pero nunca había visto a un famoso en Coachella hasta este año, cuando vi a Katy Perry bailando en la sección VIP de Marina and the Diamonds. Eso me hizo totalmente el día ya que soy su gran fan, pero estaba muy bien resguardada y no le pude tomar una foto clara :(. Aún así, en general, nos la pasamos muy bien y disfrutamos de un gran fin de semana con excelente música.

Por supuesto que la moda también forma una gran parte del festival. Coachella es ese lugar donde en verdad puedes tomar riesgos con un outfit y vestir algo que podría verse hasta exagerado en alguna otra situación. Durante todo el fin de semana, vestí 3 outfits, los cuáles pueden ver en las fotos a continuación. El primer día, me puse una tank top con la bandera de Estados Unidos con mis shorts de mezclilla de Topman y mis botas para el desierto. Se pone muy caliente durante el día en ese lugar, así que pueden dar por sentado que usarán ropa de verano cuando van a Coachella (a menos de que sean Rihanna y puedan ponerse algo así). En el segundo día, vestí el outfit principal para el evento: una camisa tribal con shorts verdes, zapatos Toms y un sombrero de paja. También incluí en el look el paliacate debajo de la camisa, lo cual está muy de moda últimamente. Finalmente, mis lentes Burberry terminaron el look. Para el último día, me fui por algo un poco más deportivo con estos shorts de jersey y una tank top. También usé mi gorra de los Seattle Mariners y unos tennis blancos. ¿Qué piensan al respecto? ¿Cuál de estos looks fue su favorito? En resumen, todos nos la pasamos muy bien en el desierto, ya que cuando no estábamos en el concierto, nos la pasamos disfrutando del sol y el calor en la alberca del hotel. Eso es justamente lo que necesitaba ya que hace mucho que no voy a la playa, entonces la alberca bastó. Estoy casi seguro de que volveré el año que entra, ya que ya se ha convertido en una tradición para nosotros el asistir al festival y tenemos grandes momentos juntos.
