Tulip Town

Hello friends! Happy hump day!! I hope that everyone is having a great week so far and that you are all enjoying the beautiful spring weather almost all across the country right now. Even the East Coast, which had been so cold in the past few weeks, seems to finally be getting a break from winter and I couldn’t say less from the West Coast either, where it’s been gorgeous lately. It is still too cold compared to what I experienced during my visit to California last week, but hey, blue skies, sunshine, and more than 50 degrees? I’ll take that anytime over the rain and the cold.

This past weekend, I took the trip up north with my really good friend Luis to visit one of my favorite events in the Pacific Northwest: the Skagit Tulip Festival. Up in Mount Vernon, just an hour and a half away from Seattle, lie the wonderful tulip fields which you can see down below. Every spring season, starting sometime near the beginning of April and lasting for about a month, farmers in Washington let visitors come and witness the amazing beauty of tulip plantations right before all these flowers get cut and sent throughout the entirety of the United States. It’s the greatest of its kind in the whole country, and it’s been a long lasting tradition in Skagit County and the state of Washington in general.

I’ve done this almost every year since I moved to Seattle and this year was no exception. It’s almost like a tradition to me already. There’s just something really relaxing about being surrounded by so many colors and tones. And of course it’s a great opportunity to take some nice outfit shots with an awesome setting. To enjoy this spectacle of natural and human-made beauty, I decided to sport a look suitable for early spring. Here you can see me wearing a raincoat with an elbow-patched sweater and Hunter boots. The weather in spring here in Upper Left USA is still very rainy compared to summer, so you have to always be prepared for a drastic change in conditions. I’m also wearing my favorite Club Monaco hat which conveys exactly what I was a feeling at the moment (it was a bit cold in the morning but as the day progressed it got warmer) and my pair of skinny jeans. Thanks for stopping by today guys! I’m ultra excited right now because in less than 48 hours I’ll be traveling to Coachella with some of my friends to attend the Coachella Music Festival. I’m super stoked about seeing all the bands this year and of course, you can expect a lot of great Coachella outfits here on Geek Q! That’s my last trip in a while (until Memorial Weekend at least) so I plan to make the most out of it. ¡Hola amigos míos! ¡Feliz miércoles! Espero que cada uno esté teniendo una excelente semana hasta ahora y que todos estén disfrutando del hermoso clima primaveral ahora sí en casi todo el país. Inclusive la costa este, que había estado tan fría en las últimas semanas, parece al fin empezar a despedirse del invierno, mientras que no podría decir menos de la costa oeste, donde el clima ha estado excelente últimamente. Aún así está muy frío si lo comparamos con el clima que me tocó en California la semana pasada, pero hey, ¿un día con cielo azul, el sol brillando y temperaturas sobre los 10 grados centígrados? Lo tomo sin duda alguna y en cualquier momento sobre el clima frío y lluvioso.

El pasado fin de semana, me dirigí hacia el norte con mi gran amigo Luis para visitar uno de mis eventos favoritos de todo el Pacífico Noroeste: el Skagit Tulip Festival. Al norte en Mount Vernon, tan sólo a una hora y media de Seattle, se encuentran los hermosos campos de tulipanes que pueden ver en las siguientes imágenes. Cada temporada de primavera, empezando por ahí de principios de abril y con una duración de aproximadamente un mes, los granjeros en Washington permiten que visitantes lleguen y sean testigos de la increíble belleza de los plantíos de tulipanes antes de ser cortados y enviados a la mayoría de los Estados Unidos. Es el más grande en su categoría en todo el país, y por años, ha sido una tradición del condado Skagit y del estado de Washington en general.

He realizado este viaje casi todos los años desde que me mudé a Seattle y este año no fue la excepción. Es casi como una tradición para mí. Hay algo extremadamente relajante al estar rodeado de tantos colores y tonos diferentes. Y por supuesto, es una gran oportunidad para tomar fotografías de outfits con un paisaje impresionante. Para disfrutar de este espectáculo natural hecho por humanos, decidí portar un look que vaya de acuerdo con los inicios de la primavera. Aquí me pueden ver vistiendo un impermeable con un suéter con parches en los codos y botas Hunter. El clima aquí en el noroeste de Estados Unidos es muy húmedo todavía en comparación con el verano, así que siempre tienes que estar prevenido para un cambio drástico en las condiciones climatológicas. También estoy usando mi gorra favorita de Club Monaco que representa exactamente lo que sentía en ese momento (estaba algo frío esa mañana pero a como el día progresó calentó un poco) y mi par de pantalones de mezclilla ajustados. ¿Les gusta este outfit? ¿Tienen alguna tradición que siguen en sus respectivas ciudades donde viven?
